Such a beautiful hotel. Staff were really welcoming and friendly. The spa, sauna and pool were so lovely. We had dinner at the restaurant and had such a great meal and breakfast was great too. The grounds are beautiful and the surrounding scenery! Would definitely stay here again!

Our coffee from the automatic coffee machine could have been a little better.

Our room was immaculately clean. It was large and furnished to a very high standard. The bed was large and very comfortable. We both a very tasty cooked breakfast, as well a little something else from the wonderfully presented buffet.

There are some birds in cages and some of the enclosure's felt quite small.

Darsh was very friendly and welcoming and checked in on us at breakfast to make everything was going great. The room was great and the pool, sauna and hot tubs were a great touch. All the staff at breakfast were so friendly and lovely to us. A great little spot for a weekend away!

Only minor concerns but the room could be a little noisy at times when people were moving around upstairs and when entering and leaving the front door. The taps and showerhead in our bathroom were a little leaky.

What an amazing property and amongst the friendliest staff we’ve ever encountered in all our travels. Fortunately for us and I guess unfortunately for them we had the entire place to ourselves which made us feel like royalty. The restaurant on site was of a fine dining standard, superb, and great value. The complimentary minibar in our room was something quite unique in this day and age. We stayed in the suite which was extremely comfortable and comprehensively furnished including many lighting options. The park like grounds included exotic birds, alpacas and calves. A bamboo forest. A fountain. Illuminated trees. Interesting sculptures. A tennis court swimming pool 2 spas and a sauna. Inside fresh flowers throughout and original paintings hanging on the walls everywhere.

Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was also excellent. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The grounds were lovely. The location was a short drive to Rotorua city centre and other attractions. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

While the property is beautiful and recently renovated, the interiors suffer from a lack of charm or character. With a lodge like that, we expected cozy spaces, tasteful art and nice public spaces to lounge. Unfortunately - aesthetics and character have been overlooked in what could have been a very charming lodge. The public spaces -including dining and lounge are functional, nothing more. Also - we did not have much to compare at the time we stayed at the property since we had just begun our holiday in New Zealand - but it was clear to us by the end of our trip that the Hana Lodge was overpriced for what we got. We subsequently stayed at the Tongariro Lodge and then at hotels in Cadrona, Queenstown and Auckland - its quite clear now that Hana Lodge was overpriced for what we experienced. And as much as Darsh and his dining team were fantastic - it was very clear that the Lodge is understaffed.

The Hana Lodge is a newly refurbished lodge on a sprawling estate. We stayed there one night and the staff - Darsh at the front desk as well as the waitstaff were amazing. The waitstaff at the dining room went out of her way to accommodate our requests and Darsh was personable and pretty much a one man army running the entire establishment. We had two good meals - so the chef clearly knew what he was doing! The rooms were very comfortable with a fully stocked fridge and a nespresso machine - which were welcome additions.

It was different, luxe and well kept. So pretty ! Literally looked like a fairy tale when we drove up the driveway with little bunnies hopping everywhere!

Leaving!! We didn't like leaving!!

I'm not entirely sure where to start... Our experience at Hana Lodge was absolutely incredible, from the fabulous staff and personalised customer service they offer to our gorgeous room and facilities available to us. The cleanliness was impeccable throughout and the in house dining experience was divine. The grounds are stunning and along with the Lodge there is such an enchanting feel about the place. We will be back in September and can't wait!!

Bar and Restaurant were shut the nite we were there so didn't get to eat there, main town a good 20 minute drive so check restaurant is open before you stay, we didn't know till we booked in which was our only let down as booked for a special occasion and was disappointed we had to drive.

Very upmarket definitely 5 star, lovely place and grounds. Everything was very classily done, thought of everything for your stay they went the extra mile. Lovely breakfast buffet.
