Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOur room was extremely small and the bathroom, though recently renovated, was minuscule ... it certainly lacked the charm and grandeur of the public spaces. It was not what we expected considering how much we paid for the room (almost AU$400) for an economy double room! Definitely an hotel for people with much larger budgets than we had. Considering how close everything in Bergen is, it would have been much more economical to stay in another part of the city and walk to the railway station.
There is no doubt that this hotel is grand. It is located right beside the railway station, which is why we booked it. The old world charm is truly lovely and Bar Amundsen was exquisite ... I felt I should have a smoking jacket and whisky! Walls on each level were adorned with interesting art works. The complimentary breakfast was sensational. Not only was the breakfast dining room beautiful, the choice of food and it's presentation was excellent.

United KingdomThere is not free parking as stated on booking.com, we chose this hotel due to it saying it had free parking, it’s a 7 min drive away, very confusing to get to and not free only a 15% off discount, we ended up using a different parking garage and paying for it ourselves. There was also no air con or fans, during our stay it was very warm so we had to keep the window open there were very loud people outside near the trainstation at night. This is no fault of the hotel, and usually it is not that warm in Bergen so they don’t usually have to accomodate this.
The building is lovely and centrally located, the breakfast buffet was amazing and the room was classy and comfortable.

United StatesThe bar and restaurant had a limited menu. The hotel luggage storage should consider using identification for stored luggage to avoid confusion and inconvenience. We had stored our luggage at the hotel, and had gone out traveling for a day. It was a bit of a surprise that we were given no receipt nor was any identification marked on our suitcase. However we were assured that it would be well taken care of. We returned the next day to discover that our suitcase had been taken by another guest who was now traveling elsewhere! We were told our suitcase would arrive sometime on the next day. We were however taking an early morning flight to Oslo, so the hotel worked out a plan where we would have to collect our suitcase from a bus arriving in Oslo the following night. All we now had was a small overnight case, the same clothes, and obviously a fair amount of discomfort and inconvenience! While the staff was very helpful in locating and sending our luggage, it could have all been avoided by a simple bag tag in the storage. People have difficulty identifying their own bags as was obvious when the person mistook our bag for their own. I do hope the hotel uses this example as a learning experience and brings about the change we suggested.
Location was great. The hotel itself was lovely. I also liked that the staff on duty showed concern for our luggage issue, and acted upon it to resolve it as best they could.

United StatesThe interior was so well maintained and a pleasure to explore. The dinner in their restaurant/bar and service was exceptional and classy. Coffee, tea, and snack were available in a small atrium and nicely presented. The breakfast layout was grand, nicely presented and with so many healthy options; one the best we had in our 3 weeks of travel. All in all, a comfortable accommodation after a hard day of travel. Couldn’t ask for a better location next to terminus.

United KingdomRoom was a litlle small, particularly the bathroom where there was not really enough room to dry oneself - easer to step out onto the main room.
Breakfast was very good, with a lot of choice. Tea and coffee available anytime from room off reception. Staff at reception very helpful. Hotel was in central location next to railway terminus, and making it easy to get to most city sights, but down side was it was a bit noisy.

Great desk service. So friendly. So easy to get to from the train station. Literally around the corner!! Center of tourist district walking and wandering is so easy. We had to leave early in the morning and miss breakfast so they prepped us breakfast bags! :) Only disappointment was hotel restaurant menu. Could use some options that accommodate international travelers-literally nothing like dairy free. Oh well, it’s Norway! Loved this place.
