Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

NetherlandsWe would have liked to have had a water-cooker in the room to make coffee or tea. There was free coffee in the restaurant, but it would have been nicer in our room. The trains passing by our room were quite noisy, although they didn’t keep us awake. The carpet in the room looked quite old and was not super clean. Some more choices on the dinner menu would be nice.
Nice beds, relatively new bathroom, diner in restaurant was ok, breakfast was nice.

Belgiumtiming for evening dinner and breakfast was imposed due to the presenece of large groups. As we've planned large distances the day of departure this was very ennoying for us. Especcially the breakfast was nok : twe showed up at the requested hour and the buffet was empty, it took half an hour before the buffet was re-done.

No elevator, for people who are having trouble walking stairs, be aware! Dinner was good, but please pay a little bit more attention to clean salt and pepper. Staff is doing its best, but it good be better.

We loved this historical hotel. Everything inside looked so cosy and warm also a little smoking area outside. But best impression made reception lady. She was super helpful with Everything and she smiled. My first night I had fever and she provide extra douvet without any problems. Breakfast was good enough. We really liked the posibility to make own wafles. They were super delicious. The room was without mistake. Housekeeping is doing excelent work.

Dinner was nice and good quality for the price but a quite narrow selection of food. The breakfast was well furnished and we just missed a good espresso or cappuccino machine =)

United KingdomWe made it in time for check-in, which closes fairly early at 9pm, could be restrictive for some people. The breakfast was served until 9.30am, which was a little too early for us and we felt quite rushed.
The room was all we needed for a good night's sleep. The bed in particular was very comfy. The hotel was fairly close to the train station, about 10 min's walk. Breakfast selection was good on the whole, particularly liked the "make your own waffles". We were able to leave our luggage near reception after check out, as our onward train was not until mid-afternoon.
