Bathroom very small, could have been better water pressure in the slower. Noisy fridgerator in the hallway... Note to kitchen - Remember to bake the croissant properly in the Owen, they were not baked 😉

Genuine old style, nice atmosphere

The check-in was a bit problematic. I was expecting a reception as wrote in the info. Instead the whole structure (cafè + hotel) was closed at 3.30pm. There was only a small sign in one of the door suggesting to call a norvegian phone number for info. I called the number, and a woman gently explained me the position of the keys left in a mail box in the opposite site of the building. Then I had to find my room upstairs. For the breakfast it was similar. The internal passage was locked and I tried from outside to reach the cafè but all doors were closed. Then I found a door on the back, with no signs, close to the kitchen and I try to open it. Luckily it was open and I could enter and have breakfast. The breakfast was served at the table but all the food was fridge temperature including the eggs and the bacon maybe cooked the day before or much earlier in the morning.

The room was spacious and very nicely furnished. There was complimentary water and biscuits. The bed was really comfortable. The position is perfect to visit Grimstad. The breakfast is served in the cafè below the rooms and is rich and served at the table.

we had a problem with the cleaning staff throwing away my lenses container and shifting around everything we have left in that room. the manager wasn't helpful at all (in fact the night of he promised to call us back but in the end was unresponsive and we had to deal with the situation ourselves). The next day, after asking repetitively has has organized me another box, but, this has really not been done willingly.

the room itself has been quite impressive, very vintage and quite roomy. the breakfast was amazing and the staff quite friendly.

Not accessible by seniors with limited mobility. When we arrived, we realized that one family member could not walk up the very steep stairs. The host was difficult to reach but when we did, he was VERY accomodating, and helped us find different accomodations at another hotel. Other family members stayed at Gjestehuset Ibsen, and the stay was very good.

The host was very accommodating once we were able to contact him. Breakfast was outstanding. The croissants were equal to or better than those available in the finest cafes in Paris.

Not much to complain about. The bathroom was small - but what can you expect in an old builfding that has been brought from the 19th century and into the present.

Ols style atmosphere - taken out of the 1800-era: Just what we were looking for. Charm and atmosphere in everything from rooms, furniture, pictures and location. This hotel is authentic and has a soul.

I know that it advertises with old style, however were not fully prepared for the very old look, and rather uncomfortsble furniture. Good bed though! However the chairs probably as old as Ibsen himself

As it's in the heart of the town there was a bit of noise at night on the streets outside. But I guess that was to be expected on a Friday night. The parking was a bit of a challenge to find, but I blame Google maps for that.

Booked a night at the guesthouse to see a bit of Norway outside Oslo. It was the best decision! On the outside, the accommodation looks pretty standard, but once you're inside you're transported to a chic, antique style, completely charming getaway spot. The breakfast was simply delicious with a lot of options all served in a quaint dinning room. This place is a gem, especially for the price.
