Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandBooking Issues: I was forced to book a triple room despite the availability of more suitable single rooms, significantly increasing the cost of my stay. It's unclear whether this was due to Booking.com or the hotel's room listing management. Poor View and Noise: The room faced a construction site, which sometimes emitted a faint, unidentified scent resembling waste disposal. Room Size and Comfort: The actual size of the room was much smaller than advertised, and the chairs were quite uncomfortable. Connectivity Issues: Both WIFI and cell signal were sporadically unreliable, which was inconvenient. Conclusion: While the hotel offers many positive features, the experience was compromised by significant booking and room issues. Future guests should verify room types and rates directly with the hotel or through reliable booking platforms to ensure they receive fair value for their expenses.
- The location of the hotel is perfect. Right next to the KROA restaurant and the main street. - The staff was friendly and the hotel design is quite unique and cosy with many interesting details and common areas. - The beds were super comfortable. - Modern bathroom. - Decent breakfast

United KingdomNeed to be clear that some of the beds require manoeuvring to get into and out of, almost a totem pole with slits in it to get to top bunk, difficult to get out of if you aren’t that tall

Wooden rustic features throughout. Room charming and unique. Beds solid and so comfortable! Central location in Longyearbyen giving easy access to shops, bars and restaurants, all a very short walk away. Environmental credentials which is very important to me. Breakfast was amazing.

IrelandOur first room was with bunk beds. They were narrow with no guard rail on top bunk. As I’m 76 I struggled with the top bunk as the space to ceiling was very low. I suggest if you’re over 60 make sure you get beds resting on floor. The following day we were moved without hesitation to a very nice room. This should not take from this property.
Unique interior design. Staff very helpful.

United StatesAssistance with booking tours with external parties could have been a little more helpful.
The hotel was perfectly located in the middle of the city, in close proximity to the grocery store, shops, restaurants and bars. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the hotel had such a warm and inviting vibe. I would definitely stay here again!

NorwayThe only area I would improve on is the size of the bed. The singles are fine, whereas the beds for couples are very cozy, although the rooms reflect the history of the area and are more defined as trapper rooms.
The breakfast was excellent. Wide variety, all freshly made. Really enjoyed the scrambled eggs with the homemade flatbread. Staff offered to make daily specials and very friendly. Great location to everything within walking distance. All staff provided great service and helped with any question.

United KingdomOur room had a faint smell of cigarette smoke but obviously this wasn’t the fault of the hotel. The bedsheets were a bit worn and could do with replacing and the bunk beds aren’t suitable for children (or anyone who has been drinking). There are no sides (so you could roll straight off from a considerable height) and the ‘ladder’ is a log with notches cut into it. As the rooms here are designed to look like cabins, you can’t share a bed. This was fine for a couple of nights but as we were celebrating our anniversary we moved on to another hotel with more traditional beds. We also got a mulled wine each which was far too sweet (more like cough syrup). That didn’t bother us too much but realising it cost £14 each when we paid was a shock. Svalbard doesn’t tax alcohol so the high price seemed a bit of a rip off.
The hotel is super cute and cosy and the breakfast was the best we had. Fresh made eggs Benedict with home made hollandaise sauce was a highlight. The bathroom is really nice too. We would stay here again.

United StatesNot so much a dislike, but there were very young kids running up and down and screaming constantly through the hallway directly in front of our room and front entrance for a few hours into the evening. It was mostly aggravating as it went on for quite a while in the presence of staff with no intervention. I believe the staff may have been hosting a family dinner. Maybe just be mindful of exhausted travelers still trying to adapt to jet leg and time change as it was very frustrating.
Everything. It's beautiful and we had a great Mountain View. We were allowed an early check in which was wonderful. The front desk staff were amazing and very helpful. Breakfast was awesome with cooked to order speciality egg dishes that were so delicious - and plenty of other options. Would very highly recommend.
