Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyVery good/convenient location for visiting the Zaan museum district across the river, which is well worth the visit, as is the historic neighborhood "behind" the hotel. Meanwhile, we requested a room change upon arrival (ground floor, busy intersection), then we needed to make another shift the next day, and in both cases, the staff were very understanding and accommodating, indeed, they upgraded us to one of the river-view rooms at the same rate on the last change.

AustraliaThere could have been clearer information provided about parking. Basically there is a public car park behind the shops and over a small laneways from the hotel. Parking is free there and we found it to be safe. Likewise, the room information was a little deceptive. I specifically booked an upgraded room so that we could view the windmills from our room. Our room 109, was a corner window with a direct view of the bridge and over the cafe below. It only had windmill views by craning your neck to look. It was still a nice room and despite the cafe below noise calmed down around 9:00pm. Be warned, so many Europeans smoke - as a none smoker, you do end up having the smoke waft up into the rooms if you open windows and this room was directly above the cafe terrace - yes they also allow smoking where food is being consumed!! Something to consider.
The location is as published on the water and overlooking the windmills and a short walk over the bridge. The small town around the hotel is picture perfect and makes for lots of awesome photo opportunities of cute Dutch homes.

ThailandThe property uses remote internet checkin, with a link to an app that you need to use when standing next to the door of your room. We were not told about this until the day before arrival. Then, when we were concerned that we would not have immediate internet access (we were flying in from outside the country) we messaged the property and no one ever responded. It turned out fine (at the entrance to the hotel, there were printed instructions, including how to access their wifi if needed) but the communication in advance could have been much better.
This property, right on the river Zaan, might have one of the most iconic views in Amsterdam: it looks over to Zanse Schans, an outdoor museum where you can walk by (and in) several windmills. The hotel feels brand-new with modern and comfortable rooms. Breakfast in the attached restaurant was amazing, with very quick service and a wide variety of food. This is a great place to stay.

Norway-The room was not in the main building and we had to walk across a street to go to the main building for breakfast, and only rooms in the main building have the nice view, that was disappointing. - There was no elevator and there were 3 floors to take my luggage up. It's better to ask them to help you with the luggage
The staff were very nice and understanding. I was very tired and lost the first day I arrived and they helped me find my room abd carry my luggage upstairs to my room.

IrelandThe front door of the property was wide open every time we left/returned to the property which didn’t feel very safe in general but the overall area felt safe so I wasn’t as concerned about this as I would be for another area.
Great location, only 15 mins from Amsterdam city by train and directly across the bridge from Zanse Schans to see the windmills and little museums such as clogs/dutch cheese. The beds were so comfortable, nice bathroom and full length mirror in the room to check your outfit. It was two single beds pushed together so it was ideal for friends. We stayed in the annex which was only 2 minute walk from where the main hotel/restaurant is. Breakfast was very handy they served it on a cake stand like afternoon tea. The breakfast had 2 croissants, 2 bread rolls, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, yogurts, meat and cheese. This would be ideal if you wanted to make up a sandwich to bring with you to eat during the day. They also offered coffees and fresh orange juice. It was also directly beside a cute bakery that had lots of vegan options. It was also beside a spar and had a grocery shop maybe 10 minute walk that was open late

Czech RepublicBig guys but small breakfast. It is probably a culture to eat little for breakfast in Holland. The breakfast we had was delicious though. There was only one thing we had constantly problem with and it was to get into room 1001 (a different building close to hotel). Most of the time the cards did not work properly and we had problems to get into room.
Staff was very helpful and kind, room was clean and quiet. There was simply nothing to make complaints about. We enjoyed the staying.

VietnamBreakfast was a bit let down from my POV. There is no lift so tourists with big luggages must be aware of this. The balcony is small and should be better improved.
Closest hotel to Zaanse Schans, nice view from the balcony to the windmills and the bridge. Free parking within 50meter (next to the supermarket that opposite side of the hotel)

AustraliaCouldn't access wifi at the apartment. The property is a little way out of town, 12 km. However, as long as the trains are running, it is easily accessible.
Fantastic and spacious modern apartment set a short walk from the hotel. Large room with two comfortable large double beds. Large bathroom. Beautiful view on the deck of the hotel facing the river and the historic windmills. Friendly staff. A short walk to the train station and numerous cafes. Straight across the river from the De Zaanse Schans historical traditions park.
