Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe were lucky that the place was not busy when we stayed, but I could see that a share bathroom could be tricky with many guests. The rooms can get quite stuffy so I had to leave the window open.
This is a very intimate homestay experience. Tatjana is a Russian woman in her 70s, who owns the large apartment and lives downstairs. It is in an apartment complex. The decor is very unique & quaint. The location is very suitable to access everything. You will be staying in one of the 3 rooms upstairs. The bathroom and shower are shared. Tatjana is not fluent in English. I found Google translate helpful to communicate when it was too tricky. Tatjana likes to know what time you are arriving and what time every morning you’d like breakfast, as she will have her daily life and appointments to attend to etc also. Please let her know. She makes her best effort to accomodate. There is a small table for breakfast that you will share with other guests. Tatjana enjoys having conversations with her guests as best as she’s able.

United KingdomI ordered a twin room, I got a double bed. Fortunately my friend who I was supposed to travel with couldn’t make it. So it didn’t make a difference.
It was clean and in a convenient location.

New ZealandThis is a home stay more than anything. It advertised private bathroom but the bathroom (1 toilet and 1 shower) was shared between 4 rooms. Tatjana is an interesting host who has been running this business for over 20 years and it seems nothing has changed in the last 20 years. Tatjana is a character and if you get easily offended by comments, this place is not for you. There were plenty of options for breakfast served in her small kitchen but it seemed like Tatjana was struggling managing everything herself as mouldy bread and expired ham were offered along with a variety of other items.
The location is great within walking distance to the main train station and the CBD. Not a bad place to stay for one night especially you pay the same for two dorm beds elsewhere.

HungaryI had some difficulties with the communication as the host did not reply to me however I had been trying to reach her for a couple of weeks. It made me a bit worried as I feel comfortable when I know I can reach the host in case of any questions. As mentioned the property is perfect for a short term stay, however I would not recommend it for a longer term. There is 1 bathroom for 4 rooms, the walls are very thin, so you will hear when someone goes out to the toilet from the other room. Because 8 people use these common spaces, it is not very clean, which also made me feel a bit inconvenient.
The location of Weena House is perfect, it is only a few minutes walk from Centraal Station. We received a big portion of breakfast with coffee, so the breakfast was perfect. Tatjana is a nice lady, she helps with pleasure. This place is perfect for a 1 night stay :).

United KingdomThere was some dust and left hair on the floor in my bedroom, from previous guests, There is a problem with the shared bathroom toilet situation, each guest needs to take responsibility for making it OK for the next guest! I was greeted by someone's shave whiskers in the sink! What does it take, to rinse them away? Also my room was very near the bathroom door, I had the shock of my life, opening bedroom door, to find another guest, waiting outside in the dark (host is very energy conscious) to be next in the bathroom, I screamed but then laughed, it was kind of funny!
Location was good, close to train and bus station. Don't look for a Hotel as such, this is rooms in a private apartment, really a homestay. The host is welcoming in her own way, insisted on carrying my case upstairs, which I said no! Struggling at 75, you do get to know the hosts story here. I was provided with two bottles of water on arrival, which was welcome, on a hot day. My room was characterful, but very warm during the night, no air con, no fan. It was quite noisy, faced out to main street. I did love the furnishings and style of the room though. I enjoyed the breakfast, I was asked night before, what time, other guests were still at the table, but space was made. Croissants and cheese and ham toastie was good. It was nice to have conversation around the table, as a solo traveller. We did find out the hosts concerns and worries, and she had questions to ask about life in the UK. I was able to leave my luggage at the house free of charge, while I looked around Rotterdam for the day. Then onwards to North Sea Ferry home.

New ZealandWe didn't stay in this apartment. It was very hard to find and couldn't find any entrance, the owner didn't pick up phone call, it took us almost 1 hour to get into the apartment with help of a residence in the building, without him we wouldn't be able to get there, and the apartment is smelly and super hot, the owner is really not profesional at all. We paid on spot and escaped.

PortugalThe dirty and dust are terrible. The owner must contract cleaners or the place will be impossible for stays. Underneath the bed was full of dust and the room was smelling perfum with dust. We had to clean the room with the vaper.
