Our room was very poorly lit and the water pressure was horrible. Very steep stairs to our room were very hard to climb with the kids. No basic amenities such as fridge and safe in the room.

If your room is next to the staircase, you constantly hear people walking up and down the stairs. It wasn't a big issue for us but might disturb light sleepers. The shower was a bit tricky: the water was either too cold or too hot and it took some time trying to get the temperature right.

Amazing location, very friendly staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast. Our room was on the 1st floor so the staircase wasn't an issue. We had a private bathroom that was also clean.

Room was very dirty. Too much dust on curtains, furniture and also fungus on the window. Large home spiders are everywhere. Drain holes in bathroom are dreadful.

The location - is very comfortable.

The common spaces are very worn and run down, and the carpet and paintwork in the room cold be updated. I would not recommend this hotel for those for whom stairs are a problem or who have lots of luggage, as they are steep and many, not problem for me though.

I loved my room - quiet on the top floor with three narrow beds, but absolutely quiet and peaceful, great for sleeping, and with lots of space. The shower room was small but spotless and the shower excellent, including hot water. I loved that the heating worked as the weather was cold and rainy. I looked forward to returning to my room at the end of the working day. The location is absolutely brilliant for visiting the Museums and Galleries, great for transport, and there are nice places to eat nearby.

Talkative receptionist which doesn’t recognise personal borders. Floor -1 is not that well, you can hear everyone walking upon your ceiling, and talking out on the terrace, noise isolation isn’t the best, no ventilation, floor in bathroom is sticky

Good location, quiet area, not so far from city centre, freshly repaired, clean towels

The stairs were quite stiff but thanks to Hamid he organised level 1 for us so wasnt a hastle. The only thing didnt like was the bed and the pillow. Those pillows need to get changed, people get saw neck when waking up.

Location is not bad unless you want to be close to the dam square or central station area. But if youre not worried about walking, its nice to walk to and from the hotel. Rooms are big enough, I was happy with this accomodation overall. Hamid at the reception was very helpfull

Zero sound isolation - people walking around or going to the toilet outside you can hear all the time. Room quite hot. Bed is very very small in the one-person room, and I'm not a tall person! Mattress was also strangely skewed or I realise this is cheap, but I've had much better beds and could sleep in cheap ones.

The hotel is located not far away from typical old town attractions (art galleries, pubs & clubs all kind). Metro stations are located in 5 mins walk, from where you can travel literally anywhere. In a close area there are a few very good restaurants and spots to have a nice breakfast or branch. Besides the receptionists are very friendly and helpful. For short city breaks traveling it’s definitely a good place to stay.

Good location and helpful staff made for a nice family visit to Amsterdam.

Our room was in the basement, so there wasn't a lot of sunlight, and the windows opened right out onto the street (which freaked us out a little bit). My wife and I were hoping there would be a nice lounge area for us to sip some wine while our baby slept, but the restaurant/lounge area wasn't exactly inviting for that purpose and the hotel didn't have any wine for purchase (there was a vending machine with beer... but we didn't have change). This wasn't a big deal, we sat outside the room the following night, but it wasn't the "escape" stay we hoped for.

The location was good. A short walk to the Albert Cuyp street market, museums, and a few good parks. There was also a decent size grocery store nearby. Relatively easy to find by car or foot. The room itself was large and the staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. They let us keep our luggage there for a few hours after check-out, which allowed us to get our rental car and come back rather than drag a heavy suitcase 30 mins in the hot sun.

Modest, efficient accommodations in a nice area of town with easy access to the city at large.

The biggest problem was the sound: I could hear everything from the halls, rooms, other guests passing by. The facility was generally clean, but in need of some attention. For example, the bathroom shower has water damage on the ceiling, needs repair. There is a handheld shower only, and it was very difficult to keep it from spraying out of the shower.

Staff was very nice. Efficient housekeeping. Breakfast was sufficient, with decent range of options. Location was quiet with easy access to transportation. The room was very small but efficient for my purpose, with access to the breakfast lounge and back patio if extra space is desired.

Despite a clear policy on quiet after 22:00, there was a lot of noise and carry on from some young guests which was very disruptive to those trying to get some sleep. Otherwise the hotel was delightfully quiet and pleasant. There appears to be a strict policy on no earlier checking in even if rooms are ready.

A lovely older hotel with friendly staff who are fluent in English and do their best to make your stay comfortable. The location was fabulous, being close to the museums and public transport. Rooms were as advertised and clean. I felt the steep staircase added character and charm to the place but this will not be suitable for all travellers. Notably the staff did offer to assist with carrying bags up the stairs which was kind but not necessary for me.

Hotel in a traditional dutch house, but small and expensive
    • Business trip

To stairs to the rooms are extremely narrow (even for a size 4); smell from the bathroom was a bit strong; good breakfast but since the space is tiny you have to tell in advance what time you will have breakfast, and if the slot you want is taken you have to wait for the next available slot. Price is high for what you get, as rooms are small, but prices in AMS are expensive everywhere.

The hotel is in a typical dutch house, in a good location to reach the city centre but far from the noise and chaos. Comfy beds and very warm room.

The photos of the rooms are pretty misleading unless you're lucky enough to get a front facing room. We had a room on the backside with two really small windows and sloping ceilings to contend with the whole stay. And also, only in the fine print do you realize there is no elevator. We were on the top floor and there were 73 VERY steep steps to climb to get to our room. This was absolutely brutal after a long day of travel and not getting to the hotel until night time and realizing we had to haul heavy suitcases up four perilous flights of steps. I truly don't know how anyone in even mediocre shape would have been able to do this. The bathrooms are small as are all European bathrooms. My biggest issue is the fact it's like a wet room in there, there is no lip to hold the shower water back so it just floods into the whole bathroom if you don't dam it with several towels. Also no A/C so the room was very warm most of the time, making it difficult to sleep soundly.

The staff was friendly, the location was decent, although a solid mile's walk from the hubbub of Amsterdam, which was good when you wanted to get away from the crowd, but tough when you were tired and just wanted to be back to your room.

The given room was in the minus floor. There was a little window on top of the wall and there was no view at all. We wanted to change the room, but they said there were no other available rooms. They must have noticed us about the room’s location before our visit.

The location was perfect. It was just 5 min walk to the museum area. There were nice cafes and restaurants around. Also, the supermarket was very close.
