Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom was small but this was expected and didn’t cause much of an issue, not a problem as long as you’re not planning to stay in the room for the majority of the time. Room was also warm and parts of the floor were too (pipes under the floor?) but there was a fan provided and the window did open.
Friendly reception staff, nice lobby, allowed us to leave luggage in the hotel for the day on check out, coffee machine, modern bathroom, close to tram stop and good transport links, fan and window in the room.

TaiwanIt was outdated, the room I stayed in was small and the space was not well designed, for example, the bathroom shower was covering only half way and doesn’t function to block the water, there was a flood no matter how careful I tried to shower in the corner. I really hope they will update this for future guests. Space for luggage and “desk” also not nice, it was cramped in, I’ve stayed in 2 other hotels during this trip (similar price, also good location, better spaces)
The location was great, but there are also other hotels with similar ratings in good locations.

United KingdomGood facilities in snug but clean room only slight comment - Unusual plug socket location in room so kettle/hairdryer use was awkward. 3 days breakfast the same each day was a bit repetitive. Would have been nice to have some other choices. Serving hot drinks in non handled glasses and cups not practical.
Great location. Easy walk to all attractions. Lovely Breakfast served in a good style. Compfortable beds and double glazing so minimal street noise. Great black out curtains! Some of the staff really friendly. Some thought had gone into the character style to make it unique and not cookie cutter hotel.

SwitzerlandI was in the hotel in summer and it was relatively warm in the city. The room has no AC and the room was very warm, even though I kept the shades closed during the day. I could keep the window open at night and the hotel provided a fan. But it was still quite warm, also at night. That was a bit frustrating, in an otherwise great stay.
I had a great stay at the hotel. And the staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful. They were always available to answer my questions. I had the breakfast, and it was great, served on a etagere. It had everything you need for a great start into your day of lots of walking in Amsterdam. The location is great - not in the middle of Amsterdam, hence, it is quiet at night. But everything important can easily be reached by foot or the conveniently located tram and bus station, just around the corner. I can recommend the hotel.

United Statesall good, but the shower was tiny and cramped next to the sink, it just makes a whole mess in the tiny area. The fan provided was ok, but it'd be nice to have an AC for very hot days
Breakfast is by far one of the best, they take it to the next level, excellent food with a lot of options, it's a full tower with fruit, pastries, ham etc. Excellent

IrelandThe room seemed to have a boiler or boiling room under our room as floor was roasting and it was very hot in the room.
The room was small but cute. Since most of my days I spend outside I didn't need a big room. For the price I paid for the room it was excellent.

GermanyThe rooms look newer and fresher on the photos than in real life. We found cracked walls and the wallpaper was peeling off from the wall in some places. Additionally, the shower was not really convenient to use, as most of the water was on the bathroom floor, as the glass was not really preventing the water from getting out of the shower. Another thing: one can order breakfast at the reception desk either in advance or ask for it at the spot if the breakfast is not included in the booking. One morning, when we didn’t order it in advance we were rejected to be served breakfast, because there was not enough food. This wouldn’t be an issue, if the hotel said that the breakfast is only available with booking in advance, but they actually offered a breakfast at the spot. This was pretty disappointing and we left hungry and payed 27€ for just coffee and a juice.
Great location, right in front of a tram station! 10 minutes walk to the main museum area and pretty close to the city centre. The staff was great and friendly. Really comfortable beds and great that the rooms had fans to keep you cool during the summer nights.

GermanyI had a single room (double bed), that felt a bit small. For example, I could only open my suitcase on the bed.
The location is great - far enough from the busy, overpacked center. Once can still walk there in 15-20 minutes. Tram to central train station is also ca. 15 minutes. Besides that, it's a 5-minute walk from De Pijp for restaurants and bars. Breakfast was great and the staff was nice and helpful. The bed was also very comfortable.
