The location is very good ,should enjoy more with the market downstairs,there are lots of restaurants downstairs and delicious.only one point is in the morning you would be wake up by the noisy of market ,of course if you get up earlier around 7am ,it shouldn’t be problem for you .landlord David and his wife are very nice people ,David always reply message in the first time and try to help you when you need 👍.had good experience with this apartment !

Everything was great! Stairs are steep as other reviews mentioned, but the host helped us to carry our bags upstairs so it was not an issue!

Location was the best part of this unit! We loved waking up each morning to explore the market below before wandering into the rest of the city. The space was also clean, spacious, and perfect for two.

There were many decorative items in the room taking up space that we could have used to unpack our suitcases and store food items (for our breakfast) during our six day stay. It would be great if the owner cleared those items out. Guest should also be aware that there is a huge flight of stairs up to the apartment and the market sets up each morning at around 7 AM and there can be noise while that is happening.

We enjoyed the location in that it was in a very interesting part of the city with lots of restaurants and a wonderful market. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.

The only minus is the stairs that are a bit longer than other apartments we are use to in Amsterdam but definitely worth it

The apartment was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The area is cool, vibrant and easy to navigate. David was an excellent host providing us with the kind of recommendations that only a well informed local can. This was my first trip and won’t be my last. Amsterdam is a wonderful place.

The noise in the morning form the market...you can literally hear the metal rumbling. If you have earplugs - please use them :)

The place is nicely designed and is very cozy. You will have to walk the Dutch stairs but it's everywhere. We really enjoyed our stay there.

The stairs upto the apartment look more of a challenge than they actually are and I have been in other Amsterdam apartments with worse stairs.

The location for exploring Amsterdam is great, with plenty of the attractions within walking distance. The bed and pillows were comfy and the studio flat was very stylish. David the host was great at responding and was waiting at the apartment when we arrived to tell us about how everything worked. Lots of great bars and restaurants on your doorstep and a walk down the market is defo worth a visit

The apartment is via steep stairs but has balcony and good view. Is fairly basic but we loved it. The location is excellent, great neighbourhood and very easy to get to from central station on #4 tram. Property manager David is great, such a helpful and capable guy.

We needed to have windows open at night to cool off the apartment, and it was very noisy starting at 6:15am when vendor began setting up the metal scaffolding for the booths.

Wonderful interior—loved the art. We’ll appointed with everything we needed.

It was exceptionally hot during our stay so we were sleeping with the window open at night. This made the early morning market set up outside quite noisy but we are early risers anyway so it wasn't a problem. If the window was shut you couldn't hear anything and in most circumstances it wouldn't be as hot as it was when we were there.

The apartment was fantastic. The location was excellent as it was only a short walk from the main sights but was far enough away so that evenings were quite. Our host David was excellent and incredibly helpful throughout our trip.

The stairs up to the apartment were very steep. Was fine for us but might not be suitable for all types of travellers.

My experience at The Market Retreat was overall positive. My partner and I arrived to meet the enthusiastic (host) David upon arrival. He assisted us with our luggage and explained the house rules clearly, along with providing us with an information booklet. David also gave us some local tips and was happy to be in contact if we were in need of any help, which is always reassuring. Especially for first time visitors of the city. As for the accommodation, it was exactly how it is described in the advertisement. Spacious, lots of natural light with elegant (& comfortable) furniture and art. The bed was amazing and massive. All the general amenities were fine which was great. The markets in front of the accommodation was cool check out from the balcony as well as on foot. And not too loud either. If you close the window you can barely notice any sound outside. So no noise issues personally. As for the location itself. It is quite close to the heart of the city, so very convenient even if you can't ride a bike. There is really good food within a 5-10min walk radius as well, so keep that in mind. My favourite was the Ladybird Fried Chicken!! Although myself and my partner were fine going up and down the stairs, I can imagine it being difficult for people who need assistance or easy access, so do keep that in mind!! I highly recommend!

There is nothing that spoilt our trip we had a fault less stay in this lovely room however if I was to be particular I would need to mention market noise however I am a light sleeper and love my sleep. I did hear the market set up each morning but it didn’t spoil my morning. I still managed to sleep in. It didn’t last long. I would endure the market set up for the overall accommodation. The door once closed blocks out the general noise of the market. Just wonderful I am so glad I experienced Amsterdam in sunshine. during the week to experience it’s true culture before the weekend people arrived. The city is bright, leafy, trendy cafes. Gorgeous food. So many people asked if we were enjoying our time in the city so friendly!!! 11/10.

Our trip was just one of those lovely trips where you have a great host. lovely accommodation. great location and it’s all just so charming. we did not realise we were located above such a popular market and the market was lovely to walk through. It was only on a wine and cheese canal cruise the guide told us to visit a great market and realised we were living on the street. we used the supermarket. The hummus stand forgotten it’s name. bought tulips. lovely meals from the vendors. The bed was so comfortable. Clean room. I love being in a room where you have ‘air’ plentiful from the large window/door to balcony. Great recommendations from host David. we already had one of the places on our list so it was nice to know a local recommended too. Greenwoods for breakfast and visited Coffee & Coconuts for coffee and cake. The market shop owners would greet us as we entered/left the building such a friendly experience for a little hello from shops either side if people saw you. The stairs wow. added to the Dutch charm worth the climb ha! I fell in love with Amsterdam. The Dutch just ooze cool. David you were a delightful to deal with. your energy is refreshing and it was a pleasure to deal with you. prompt check in and out. The message you sent the 2nd day to check if we were ok was a lovely touch. We have travelled the world and once your checked in not many hosts tend to check in via messages if they are not on site themselves. I would definitely stay here.

The perfect location to visit Amsterdam. Tram 4 will go cross main street to the central station, which seats close to everything you want to go. Also, David is a friendly and welcoming host. We feel so warm when he hosted us. He even helped us with carrying heavy luggage and taxi. It is definitely a wise choice to stay here.

Words can't describe how plesent our stay was! the apartment is located on a busy market with so much to offer. easy tram links 2 mins from your door to anywhere in the city. i could go on forever! will defiently be rebooking and staying here many more times in the near future! Very happy overall!
