I loved the bed but it gave my wife back pain. To be fair she sleeps on a 3 inch foam mattress topper. The bed was not excessively firm but not the cloud like essence she prefers.

The location is perfect, 10 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal, close to Jordaan, close to red light district and away from crowds. Lots of food options nearby and a little corner market.

Just worth to mention: it is a typical Amsterdam house, stairs and elevator provide space for one person at a time.

One of the nicest hotels I have seen recently. Wonderful room with a lot of character, perfectly clean and a lot of special details. Delicious breakfast that was served to the room in my case, but a breakfast room is available for those who prefer. Very nice contact previous to arrival and during check in / check out.

We were in the Brewer room which was located in the basement right off the street level. While the room was quaint, it was very dark and we had some unwanted lurkers flash lights through the door window at night. I would stay here again if we could have an upper room.

It was close to the city center, the breakfast as well as cafe next door was very good! They even had gluten free rolls!! It was an easy walk to many different sites and was situated on a beautiful canal.

Rooms are very small. Housekeeping did not come in until after 2 pm the first day - too late since we were up and about since 8 am. The stairway is steep and difficult to maneuver.

The breakfast was excellent with fabulous croissants and freshly squeezed OJ. The Clockmaker's room faced the canal.

The property was extremely unique. Each room was different. We had a canal and side room. Each of our 2 rooms was amazing. Breakfast was included, with option to eat in the gallery or brought to the room. Staff is extremely helpful. Great walking location to many sites. Highly recommend!

The location was fantastic, walkable to most places. The room itself was full of charm, the bed was comfortable. The kids were excited to sleep in the nook! It’s a quirky layout which we loved. The breakfast was available to have in the room or in the gallery. We had it in our room, it was delivered on time and was fabulous. Fresh pastries and bread were a highlight but there was something for everyone. The staff were friendly and helpful, the sandwich next door made delicious food and they delivered to the hotel. Overall a fantastic stay, would definitely recommend.

Elegant hotel in 17th century building (with all virtues and vices) close to inner canals.
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Basement Double Deluxe: The Brewer
    • Stayed 4 nights

All photographs (very good quality) are a bit misleading making impression of a larger space. The Brewer room has a low ceiling (less than 2 m) and in fact is without windows (small window was expected as it is in the basement but it was not possible to open it). The problem is that it was not ventilated well - we had to open doors to the street that was uncomfortable. There is no breakfast buffet ("to reduce the waste") but the need to ask for every single pice of butter or additional portion of food may be embarrassing for some people.

Excellent location and absolutely perfect staff and the service. A very elegant, nicely refurbished building with a creative theme - pleasant from aesthetic point of view. Very comfortable bathroom, good pressure of water, good quality cosmetics. The food for breakfast was of a very good quality but a limited variety (just eggs, ham, cheese and sweets). The choice of bread was limited (no wholemeal "heavy" bread). Coffee was very good.
