Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

UkraineThe unexpected things - there is no mini-fridge in the room and no lock in the WC. In a case when there is no door in the shower, a foot towel is highly recommened to be on the floor.
Location is great, it is very convinient to get to the center of Amsterdam. Breakfast was appopriate and tasty. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere.

MaltaBed had access only from 1 side - a minor thing but can be uncomfortable if the person inside wakes up at night.
Excellent location if you need to use Zuid station to connect from centre to the outskirts. Helpful staff, free coffee and overall a comfortable room.

United KingdomWindows an upgrade? Come on - this is the 21st century and weve moved on from living in dark caves. Breakfast (like most hotels in amsterdam) not worth the cost. Go and get pastries and juice around the corner in AH for 1/3 the price.

FranceWould have preferred to have a proper towel rack rather than have the towels placed under the sink as they would often end up getting wet when simply trying to wash hands. Another suggestion would be to have the ‘do not disturb’ tag placed on the door handle so it’s earlier to find because I couldn’t find it at all when I needed it. Only at the end of my stay I accidentally happened to spot it hanging on a small hook on the wall … the main issue was that the wall had a collage of images as the wallpaper and the ‘do not disturb’ tag got blended in and camouflaged so I wasn’t able to find it.
The room was big and spacious and the design was very interesting. Good thing to have hooks in the bathrooms. Happy to find there was a microwave in the lobby.

United KingdomThe lights are in odd not always readily accessible places like on the wall behind the door where you don't see it until you shut the door but then it's dark. And on bed they appear to be the wrong end. Slightly to hot but I'm putting that down to the power supply. Could do with more fruit at breakfast but honestly that's such a tiny thing.
Location, room size, staff friendliness, they really were so helpful even under quite a stressful event. There was a power cut off some kind. free tea and coffee. Price was much better value than in London. Transport links were brilliant for getting to sight see and get anywhere. Lovely breakfast.
