Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo kettle to make tea in the AM - had to be out at 6:30am before breakfast is served at 7:00am.
I have stayed before, consistent and predictable. Good value for money.

NetherlandsThe place is extremely confusing to get to. Breakfast was late and sparse. The walls are seemingly made out of paper. I heard every footstep of the fellow guests, their conversations kn the hallways and the glasses clinking against each other downstairs from the restaurant. We had a ship painted on a wall which looked great. However, it was also completely visible during the night when all lights were off as it was backlit from the restaurant. The wall was so thin that the light went through the wall! You can see in the picture how lit up it was. I could hardly sleep. Further, it wasn’t fixed on properly letting in actual rays of light. And usually I’m not one to care about spiders but this one was huge and surprised me in the morning when I opened the curtains.
I liked the location and the idea of it being a former prison

NetherlandsI was standing at reception, no one was there. The owner/concierge was talking to someone else, maybe work crew or whatever. I stood there for 5 minutes while he finished up. When he went to show me where the rooms were he didn't offer to take my bag. I would have said no, but an offer would have been nice. When we arrived at the elevator, he mumbled something about the rooms and then left. It took me a good 10 minutes to figure out that my room was in the basement area. That was after I asked someone in the canteen because the owner had disappeared. Too bad.
Staying in a renovated naval prison cell was an interesting concept. It wasn't really comfortable, but I guess that's the point. Breakfast was ok, nothing special but nothing wrong with it either.

UkraineHowever, I think there could have been more toiletries (so far spotted only liquid soap and shower gel). I also think the hotel staff could pay more attention to the fact that there are quite a few spiders in the rooms (5 in my room) so they could look out for spider webs better.
Really enjoyed the waterline view also there’s a lift. The room was clean, no smells, fresh bed linen. I also thought breakfast was very good.

GermanyWe had a room on the ground floor. There was no door between toilet and bedroom. I understand that this was a former prison cell but a little privacy would have helped. It was not possible to open the window either. This was challenging even for a longtime married couple like us.
Very friendly staff, super location, breakfast was great. Staff very accommodating for our bikes. Many thanks for everything. There is a cinema on site!

SwedenWhen you have a room below the stairs to reception with poor sound proofing and the staff is standing outside the room discussing when going home after work.
I love the idea. Location is perfect for this kind of hotel. Breakfast was nice, maybe this should be checked a little more if they have been too long on the tray.

GermanyThe bathroom sink was somewhat clogged. There's no curtain or door between the room and the bathroom. Breakfast selection was very limited. Someone was smoking outside the building and the smoke was coming into the room via window ventilation holes. The door lock could use some oil - was difficult to close the door. The room could use an extra cabinet or a shelf to put phones and some other small things on.
Parking was convenient, but paid 10 Euro per night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great. Breakfast selection was limited, but tasty. The staff offered good tea and coffee. The room was converted from 2 former prison cells, so the expectations were not high. But as an experiment it was interesting. For one night stay this hotel fits nicely.
