Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United Arab EmiratesThe water kettle in my room had clearly not been changed from the previous guest, although the staff eventually provided a new kettle, they refused to collect the dirty one, which was unsettling. The coffee machine also had old water left in it, and despite reporting this to the hotel staff, they neither replaced the machine nor collected the dirty one. Also, when I requested missing amenities, I was told to collect them from the reception myself, which is not something I expect from a hotel of this standard. Additionally, there was no porter service available, and I had three pieces of luggage at checkout time that I couldn't carry by myself. Shockingly, the staff did not accept my request for assistance. Coming from countries where service is top-notch, I was surprised by the lack of basic hospitality here.

United KingdomThere was this night when the hotel must have been fully booked for dinner because of a motor racing event in the city. Unfortunately we were not aware. When we went for dinner at 7pm our usual eating time, we were turned back on account that dinner tables were fully booked. We were extremely disappointed for not being prewarned or being given priority over those that had only started living at the hotel. We ended up walking in the rain to a nearby shopping centre for pizza which wasn’t our choice dinner.
Location is your greatest asset! I was really worried about my travel from the airport and from the hotel to the city centre. But as it turned out I realised my choice was divine orchestrated - the very best. The breakfast and dinner was also excellent

United KingdomThe room was okay, issue's with dust gathering under the fridge caused the kettle to overheat. This was brought to the attention of the reception staff. They immediately apologised and, without hesitation, upgraded us to the "executive room" The duty manager also called to apologise. On our second night, we ordered room service, which took nearly 50 minutes to be delivered to the room and, unfortunately, was stone cold. To the point that the cheese on the burger had not even melted.We had to call and ask for it to be taken away, and a new order was placed. It arrived warm but not what we would have expected. The executive room is basically a standard room with a larger bed and actually less room to move around. We had left the tray from room service on the table, and to our surprise, it was still there when we returned after being out all day, definitely not what you would expect from an executive room.
Great location outwith city centre, with excellent local transport a short walk away.

RomaniaFor the number of stars and the price paid, I was expecting to have in the room slippers and bath robes, especially since the hotel has sauna. However, you can pay 10€ per bath robe to rent it for the whole duration of the stay. The minibar was empty. Only on one side of the bed there was a power outlet.
