Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandNot a "didn't like", just be aware elevator stops at 3rd floor. Very steep narrow stairs to 4th floor. Staff great, they carried my bag to 4th floor.
Convenient location (both by walking and trams). Quiet at night. Felt safe.

United StatesTypical Amsterdam facility - treacherous steps to get from one floor to the next - not a 'real' problem, you just need to concentrate on climbing/descending the stairs. Small room - but another 'typical' Amsterdam issue.
The location was easy to get to. It was close to transit systems. Restaurants were close by. I was happy with my small but comfortable accommodations.

South AfricaThe bed was not all that comfortable with the top layer sliding off ... but it wasn't really too bad.
Very friendly staff. Room was small but expected in European city hotels. Fine for a short stay or if you are not planning on spending too much time in your room. We were only really sleeping there so it was ideal. Small bathroom but the rooms and overall hotel was very clean and neat. Crazy elevator experience :) If you are not able to climb stairs, ensure you are not on the 4th floor. Very good location and lovely area. Walking distance to loads of places.

United KingdomThe lighting in our room was very dim and needs improving. The only other concern is that the stairway downstairs to the basement where we were is dangerous we felt. There is no railing or handle to hold onto and the steps are very steep and awkward.
The location, the room and hotel were fine.

United KingdomThey gave you ear plugs for a reason! Other guests were rather loud during our stay and the insulation of the rooms isn’t great, could hear footsteps above us and door slamming outside our room. Quite a few bedrooms in a small building. We stayed in a basement room which was compact- bathroom was very small. Would avoid this room type if you’re over 6 foot tall!
Great location, close to the canals and Jordaan area of the city which we loved the most. There are great cafes, restaurants and a fab gelato place close by so no need to venture too far for meals. Staff were helpful and cleaned the room well each day for us.

United StatesThe early check-in process was a little bit of a mess. I arrived very early morning flight from usa where I hadn't slept And was very tired. Was hoping for an early check-in but I knew the hotel was full and that was unlikely. The gentleman offered me an early check-in if I wanted to pay €20 each hour earlier than 15:00. I refused as I would just explore the city instead. I told him I didn't want to pay to prioritize cleaning my room as the room I booked the room was because it was less than other hotels. I could have paid more money for another hotel with earlier check-in. I asked if for some reason the room happened to be cleaned earlier than 3:00 p.m. could I get in and he said not without paying. If the room was clean before 3:00 through the normal process without expediting, I don't understand why someone couldn't get in early. Just didn't seem like very good customer service.
I like the location of the hotel. My room was not large but it was very comfortable. It was clean and modern. The pillow top on the bed kept moving which was a little bit challenging but it was otherwise comfortable.

NetherlandsPlease make note that the elevator does not reach the top floor. You will have to walk a steep stairway from the third to the fourth floor. The staff was kind to lend me a hand, otherwise my suitcase would have never made it to the room.
The location was great. Short and nice walk to the main museums like the Rijksmuseum en Stedelijke museum. Two places you should not skip. Public transportation is also only a few minutes walk.

United KingdomWe didn't mind, but property doesn't offer breakfast.
Small, but clean room with modern bathroom and aircon unit. Quiet location so good night sleep guaranteed. Very steep and narrow steps (like everywhere else in Amsterdam), but has a tiny mini lift which is an amusment on its own . Nice staff in reception, you can leave the luggage before/after checknin/checkout. Located around 35 minutes walk from the Central station and 30 from Dam square, but plenty bars, cafes and shops on the way so feels like you are in the centre of it.

NetherlandsThe elevator only goes up until the 3rd floor and our room was on the 4th, which was no issue, but might be good to know. The room itself was quite small, but really doable with only 2 people. The bed was really comfy and nice and everything was nice and clean.

TurkeyHotel room is a bit claustrophobic, this is most likely due to that, the hotel is converted from an old amsterdam building, therefore understandable from my point of view. Room description was room with a view, however, we had a room looking over a tight backyard, therefore it was hardly to describe a view. It will be better rooms on the back side of the building shall better be described with backyard view statement, otherwise it creates confusion and you are expecting a much wider view with typical amsterdam canal or street.
Location of the hotel is great, it is very easy to reach most of the important places by foot. A few steps from the hotel door and you are near one of the main canals. It is also on route of main transportation, therefore usage of public transportation is not a problem. Hotel personel refreshes coffee and tea daily, so you may grab your morning drink, cross the street and may enjoy it by the canal easily. Great way to start your Amsterdam day :)

United KingdomThis isn't a complaint as not an issue for us, we didn't mind taking the stairs, but the top floor is only accessible by a steep and narrow staircase. There are also very steep steps into the property.
It was absolutely worth booking a canal view room! Rooms are cosy and compact but we found it perfectly fine for 2. Everything was clean, coffee machine and mini fridge were perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location if you want to be central ish and walkable to the busy areas, but staying far enough away from it being hectic. Absolutely would stay here again. The "slowest" (also, smallest?!) "lift " in Amsterdam was also a novelty in itself!!!

United KingdomAs a typical Dutch building, it has a very steep staircase. There is an elevator but it does not cover the floor where single rooms are located. I happened to stay here when it was very cold (zero degree celsius during the day and minus five during the night) and the heating felt rather insufficient (the air conditioner is up on the wall and the hot air doesn't come down very quickly). It would have been nice if they had a small heater for these cold days. (But they generously provided me with extra blanket and it wasn't too cold in bed.)
The staff was extremely helpful. The room is not big but had everything I want for a decent accommodation - hair dryer, kettle, coffee machine, and even a small fridge and a safe. The bed and blanket were super comfy and I had very good sleep during my stay. The location is fantastic - close to trams, major museums, and affordable supermarkets.
