What’s not to like? Perhaps the best place we stayed during nearly a month in The Netherlands. And Monnickendam itself was a delight, with a fabulous Spanish restaurant to boot.

Everything was more than perferct

Outstanding location - a very short and cheap bus ride from Amsterdam gets you to a romantic small town with excellent views, quality restaurants which are not overcrowded by tourists. Stay at Fortuna Spinoza as a highlight of our trip. It is better than on the pictures, its VERY clean, from our room we had a magic view to the garden. Breakfast was excellent with a big attention to detail and local products. Edam town is nearby too. Prerfect value for spending time in Amsterdam but still experience a romantic atmosphere of small town.

Lovely old house renovated to be comfortable as well as attractive. Our room was large and light-filled with a nice view of the church and street. The town is pleasant and uncrowded with some cute shops and several good restaurants.

There were no dislikes.

The Breakfast was nicely presented, all fresh and plenty of it. The position of the B&B was perfect, away from the madding crowd but easily accessible to the main attractions. The property was beautifully decorated and furnished throughout. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone. Babette, Niels and Raziya were perfect hosts.

I particularly liked how much detail and effort was put into the b&b. From the welcome to the goodbye it was a wonderful stay. Excellent hostess and felt very homy despite the fact that everything was very prestigious. Well done.

Everything was simply perfect. The bed was very comfortable, the bedroom was really lovely and tastefully decorated. Really nice shower and huge bathroom!! Excellent breakfast and staff were lovely. We definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway!

The place is conveniently situated to get to Amsterdam easily and being in the countryside at the same time. The room was very cosy, the bed excellent and the whole stay was very peaceful and friendly - which is thanks to the owner! The breakfast will deffinitely make your day! This is a place you always want to return to.

Nothing at all. It was all great.

Everything was amazing. We woke up to soaring cielings with a wooden chandelier overhead and then opened the curtains to then step out onto the upper level balcony for a morning coffee. The room itself, including the bathroom, was a work of art. From there, as we decended the curved staircase lined by portaits, you could already smell the fresh bread being baked. Babette was kind, warm, and welcoming, offering us mango hummus from the local market and rhubarb jam. She was willing to answer any questions and had many inisghtful tips for the area. The dining room was decorated in a superb way. Later in the afternoon, after taking a stroll in the old town and having a coffee ice cream, we say on the back garden lawn chairs and read while sitting in the sun. I cannot begin to express how much attention to detail there was. From the individually picked anitque pieces, to the little touches such as wonderful scented room difusers, it was all done with great execution. Definitely would go back again for a peaceful weekend away!

We had an amazing stay at Fortuna Spinoza! The host is really nice and made a delicious breakfast in the morning. The rooms are very stylish and clean. Monnickendam is very pretty and the hotel is close to a bus stop with frequent busses to Amsterdam.

To be honest, there wasn't anything to dislike.

Fortuna Spinoza is a charming boutique hotel located in the heart of Monnickendam. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts at Fortuna Spinoza are super delicious. We absolutely loved everything.
