The bedding needs to be renewed, mattress and pillow were really uncomfortable.

The place was really nice and clean and people super welcoming. You also have a free parking next door, which is pretty handy. Also the restaurant is pretty good and tasty.

Biggest negative was the 32 steep narrow stairs to our attic room. Rooms 7,8,9,10 are all top floor attic rooms. Our room only had one tiny window up high (and another in the bathroom); felt very closed in with no outlook at all. Wi-Fi dropped out. No refrigerator in room. Took almost 5 minutes to get hot water in the shower, and then at low pressure.

Excellent location right on the main square Good air conditioning. Quiet room at back of hotel - no noise at all. Good breakfast with hot and cold options, ordered from a menu the night before. Good bike storage in locked room about 100m down a side road from the hotel. Nice reception staff.

This is a beautiful old house so unfortunately the stairs are very steep and there is no elevator.

Very nice place with good food. Breakfast was ordered in the evening and served individually at the table. Great idea. Location right next to the market place made it so easy to see the town.

plenty of stairs to get to my room, but this is a historic building so I would expect nothing less and it didn’t detract from my overall impression of the hotel.

I was on a two week cycle tour of the Netherlands and wanted to stay in good value traditional Dutch accommodation. The Gulden Leeuw did not disappoint. Beautiful location in the centre of town surrounded by historic buildings and close to a harbour and canal network. Comfortable and quiet room, compact bathroom with a good shower and a radiator to dry my cycle clothes . Good Wi-Fi throughout. A lovely restaurant attached where I had a substantial evening meal ( paid separately) as well as my breakfast which came within the price. There was secure parking for my cycle ina nearby garage owned by the hotel.All the staff were friendly and hospitable. I thoroughly recommend an overnight stay at this hotel and the beautiful town of Workum. Very good value compared to some hotels I had stayed in on my cycle tour.

You could also reserve the room with half pension, which is a nice option to consider. The food was good and the breakfast was nice. So, I would stay here again if I travel through.

All was great! Some room to hang your wet wetsuits for example would have been nice, but we managed. Our room need a small flight of stairs to climb which was not ideal but again we managed fine.

We were staying there as sailors for the Dutch Youth Regatta. The fact that they go an extra mile and not only supply a breakfast but also help in preparing a lunch sandwich package for on the water is simply awesome. Very friendly staff and great restaurant.

You had to book everything you wanted for breakfast the night before. This didn't feel very "generous".

We were “lucky” to get a room above their kitchen, it should not have been offered as a hotel room at all! All the smells were immediately getting into the room. And in the evening it was fried fish or something like that. In the morning you wake up to the smell of baked bread. Still very strong. Even with closed windows and running airconditioning. The room has absorbed all the smells and no tricks would help.

The hotel is at the very centre of the city, has its own restaurant.

The stairs to the rooms are steep, but a great workout! The other rooms are not as steep only the top two. We were glad to get a room here and its very popular so we think it was the last one available.

The room was large, with a good sized bathroom which is exceptionally clean and modern. The staff from check in to check out were incredibly helpful and friendly and very patient with our lack of Dutch. The restaurant food was excellent, well cooked and well presented and very filling. Also the breakfasts generous. We would recommend to friends and family.
