Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyFirst of all, we were upgraded free of charge to Namib Naukluft Lodge on arrival. Great view from the location in the midst of the namib dessert. Delicious dinners/barbecues with freshly cooked meat and vegetables served in an extraordinary location. Kai was a great hosts who provided a lot of information during our stay. He highly recommend the sundowner driver.

South AfricaOnly 1 chair, but 3 beds? No cutlery except for the coffee cups. Small table in shower would be very helpfull for clothes & vanity case.
I always wanted to stay in a place were I was alone, could see into the future, quietness is exceptional, just what we want, would like to stay here for at least 2-3 nights. This was a stop over on way to Windhoek. When we arrived we went for a loooong walk, saw Oryx, Mountain Zebra. Sunset was one for a calender. Room was great and comfortable. Beautiful spacious shower. Solar geyser & electricity. One for my Bucket list. Kettle and coffee and camp fridge, safe. 3 single beds. Really wonderful.

BrazilOnly the air con and the electricity plugs, in the bedroom, could be improved. But that was a really, really minor point.
- We were upgraded to their lodge, which was really nice; - The staff is lovely and very helpful; - The food is delicious and the dinner om open air, under the stars, is an amazing experience; - They have a cool swimming pool area, with the desert view

HungaryThe GPS did not find the place at first (neither the camp nor the lodge). There is nothing to complain.
This is an amazing place with a great staff. The dinner and the breakfast in the close Neukluft lodge were amazing, fine dining, choreoghrafed with love and competence. The waterhole, the swimming pool, the sunset point in the lodge were also worth to visit. The ground squarrels were lovely. The half-Angolan receptionist was also kind and lovely. We enjoyed every moments there.

AustraliaOffice staff responsible for communications were non-responsive when we needed assistance with our booking. We found ourselves with a very sick 9 year old, which meant we had to reassess our plans while we stayed put in Swakopmund for him to recover. We were due to arrive on the Sunday to stay 2 nights, so I messaged at lunchtime on Saturday to ask what our options were given I understood our booking was non-refundable and it was expensive so would be a big loss. We had no response until Monday, after we had left Swakopmund and no longer had access to wifi. In the meantime, I had sent more messages, and also tried calling both the soft camp and lodge phone numbers with no response. We even had a family connection living in Windhoek trying to contact them! So, when we turned up there a day late, on the Monday, I finally received a response simply to say thank you, noted we are arriving a day late, and there would be no refund for the night we missed. It’s not good enough to be uncontactable over the weekend when you are an accommodation provider. It was very stressful trying to work out what we should do and not even knowing that if we did turn up a day late that our booking would still be there because we couldn’t communicate that we were running late! We had to take the 5 hours drive into the desert, just hoping all would be well when we got there.
Wonderful property, with the waterhole to walk to in front. Stunning sunset, the view is amazing, and we had a fantastic and delicious dinner under the stars in the boma. The room was very comfortable, spacious, and well appointed with a camping fridge/freezer (noting we were also lucky to be accommodated at the lodge even though we booked the soft camp). The staff at the property were excellent and we were looked after very well! The below less positive comment is solely to do with the office staff that apparently attend to the bookings and communication via this platform.
