United KingdomThe service was awful (compared to other island resorts in Malaysia). On all lines, front desk, restaurants, etc. Just as an example: one day we had to go to am activity and we order food and drinks, food arrived one by one, drinks later, they didn't clear the table once someone had finished, some orders came three times (e.g. a pizza), some dishes run out and we were not informed until we were chasing them for our food (despite that we informed them that we were on a rush). This not only happened once but on mutiple ocassions. Once we even ordered a Marguerita pizza and it came without cheese. At the front desk you even experience difficulties trying to communicate despite the fact that they work with an international crowd. Ain at the reception of the restaurant was very good and helpful, always trying to assist. From the scuba center, "Din" was exceptional and very good with kids, he was the one who took us on two ocassions to swim with the sea turtles.
The hotel was just ok (decent room size but a bit dated/shabby). However, the beach steals the show: crystal waters, white powdery sand, coral reefs on the sides and lots of fish to see. Also, there were lots of activities to do, swim with sea turtles, release baby turtles, scub adiving, snorkeling, etc.

Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Faiez, who went above and beyond with all my requests. The resort was quiet and private, just what I needed to relax. The View from my balcony suite was amazing. The crystal clear water and clean sandy beach are a true piece of paradise. I even went for a chill snorkelling session with the turtles and corals, and it was superb.

We have experienced much more 5 star rated hotels that are more fairly priced. The food price for local food nasi goreng kampung and nasi lemak costing more than RM50 was totally unacceptable. A better pricing strategy would attract more visitors and be more practical.
It was the best customer service ever experienced. The staff was extremely accommodative, lovely folks, and that actually really defined the wonderful experience, right from the time we arrived to the time we left. Special thanks to Melissa, Anita, Adiba, Yana and others who made out trip a lovely experience. 😍

South KoreaThe food and drink was a bit pricey, and we wished there was a little more vegetarian options. The breakfast buffet was the same each day and we wished they could have switched it up a bit, but all in all, we were satisfied.
The beach was amazing, the water and the view were also very impressive. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They even helped us with a small birthday cake for our son's third birthday.

Although they did offer to make any dish requested. Should improve in their cake and pastry quality. Also, if you are late to the buffet, some food and drinks were not replenished. The resort is also facing issues with sand flies. They are notices placed about it for us to understand. Unfortunately my family and I came back with bites all over our legs. Even after a week, we are still dealing with the terrible itch from the bites. Not a pleasant experience.

United StatesThere was nothing with which we were unsatisfied during our stay. Even if we did encounter any issues, we easily could have spoken with our new friend Melissa or any member of the front desk staff who were timely in all of their responses.
It's easy to see why The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort is the best rated on Redang Island. Even before arrival, their staff responded quickly when coordinating a boat transfer from Merang Waterfront Jetty to the island. This was especially important because we were traveling towards the end of monsoon season and the public ferries were not scheduled to run until several days after our departure from Malaysia. They carefully loaded and wrapped our suitcases for the ferry over to the island and transported them--and us--by private buggy to the property. Upon arriving, we were warmly welcomed by several members of staff who quickly managed check-in and informed us that my brother and I would each be receiving a 300 MYR credit for food. The credit we received at check-in was enough to cover our lunches and dinners for the duration of our stay, which was a welcome surprise at check-out when we received our itemized bill and did not need to pay any additional fees for meals. Breakfasts were included and we were also able to book scuba diving at the recreation desk. A member of staff took us to our beautiful room, which felt more like a spacious apartment we had to ourselves than a resort, and enjoyed relaxing on the beautiful white sand beaches. The view of the resort's private beach from the gym was spectacular. Make sure you book massages early at the spa because they fill up quickly. Each member of the staff we interacted with went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Glory and her team at the spa displayed a great attention to detail with the room setup and a relaxing start to the day. As a local of the island, our Divemaster Aiman was careful and professional when introducing the dive, the wildlife, and a bit of history about the island. Melissa went above and beyond in taking personal responsibility for our stay and exuded kindness in every interaction. Taaras is lucky to have her as a member of the team!

Our stay at the Taaras resort has been 11 out of 10. Firstly, I would like to mention how beautiful the actual island is and the bay where the resort is located. Crystal clear turquoise coloured waters of the South China Sea, and the soft white sand can’t leave you indifferent. The beach is very well taken care of by the Taaras resort. Mind you, it’s a closed bay - for Taaras guests only; meaning no strangers, no crowds. The staff of the Taaras Beach & Spa resort have been beyond exceptional. Every single one of them. I was stunned by their friendliness, professionalism, attentiveness and their willingness to do their best to accommodate us. I did have some special needs due to health issues, and I received the best attitude. Anita, Florina, Samantha, especially Anita, have been assisting me virtually every step of the way, which was extremely comforting, I am very grateful for their kindness and care. Buffet breakfasts were included in the room rate, lunch and dinners were paid separately, the food has always been freshly cooked and delicious, making it way too easy for us to overeat. Speaking of our room, upon arrival the resort kindly provided me with an upgrade, and the room we got was just spectacular, very spacious, with a breathtaking view of the cliff and the beach. It was beyond amazing and it seriously contributed to our level of joy, many many thanks. The resort offers enough activities. I chose to do one-stop snorkeling, which was just ideal for me, not too short and not too exhausting to the point of irritation; I enjoyed it immensely. Our instructors who escorted us by boat, were super professional and alert, carefully looking after every participant of the trip. Overall, this was the exact experience and mental de-stressing I was looking for, and the Taaras Beach & Spa resort has generously provided it. Thank you so very much and wish you all the best.
