Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDepending on what you’re looking for in a hotel, I wouldn’t say it was very cosy. That’s not a negative and it was a very cool experience to stay in such a historic building, but it did mean we were slightly wary of breaking or knocking things over in our room, and tip-toeing around a bit!
Incredible historic setting - beautiful decor and amazing preservation. Staff were so lovely and friendly - we really enjoyed our chats with them going in and out of reception each day. Cute breakfast room in the library and the team were really flexible when we wanted to tweak our menu slightly. Beautifully quiet room and street, yet we were just a few steps away from the main streets of the town. Amazing view from our balcony. Great air con which we were very grateful for! Felt like a little oasis in the middle of the hustle. We didn’t get time to use the pool or enjoy the free afternoon tea and really wish we had!

AustraliaA different soundtrack playing at breakfast would be a good idea. Heard the same half a dozen songs every morning. Unfortunately served an empty tea pot and dirty cups on one occasion at afternoon tea.
A smaller boutique hotel will always win for me over a large hotel. Seven Terraces is just the right size in a perfect location of Georgetown where everything is just a walk away. The staff were very helpful, in particular the lobby staff and a lovely young man who served us in the restaurant and a few breakfasts. Pool was great. Especially sitting alongside eating delicious sweet treats for afternoon tea. Worth visiting the restaurant onsite for dinner. Truly enjoyable.

AustraliaThe bed, although stunning to look at, was not comfortable to sleep on, and my back is still recovering from it.
This is a unique property where the decor and aesthetics of the regions history surround you in every corner of the hotel and room. It is full of character and style. The staff are warm, friendly and willing to assist with any directions and needs. The area is full of great coffee houses and interesting shops. The accommodation restaurant Sebaya is a must.

SingaporeWe absolutely enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again if in Penang. Only thing that wasn't clear when we checked in was if they have lunch options at the hotel. Did not really matter much as we were out everyday.
Absolutely lovely experience. The hotel is a beautiful heritage property that has been superbly renovated. Rooms are super spacious and the facilities are lovely for this type of boutique hotel. They have a lovely fine dining restaurant that opens for dinners and their breakfast is also very good. Lovely small pool with an outdoor cafe seating next to it and great location in Gerogetown. We pretty much walked from the hotel to most cafe's, sights and restaurants around the area.

United KingdomWe used to live in Penang 8 years ago and stayed at Seven Terraces for a staycation, finding it really impressive. We also visited the restaurant and bar on numerous occasions, both of which were excellent. When we were planning a trip back to south east Asia, a part of the reason we included Penang in the itinerary was so we could stay at Seven Terraces again. We were delighted that it was even better than we had remembered! The building itself is absolutely astonishing, especially when you consider the derelict state it used to be in. They have done the most fantastic job, creating a calm, beautiful space right in the heart of Georgetown, decorated with stunning antique local furniture. The rooms are huge, beautifully furnished and have everything you could need. The Chinese four poster bed was comfortable and enormous. The bathroom was lavish, probably one of the nicest I’ve ever been in and almost ridiculously large. We had a separate living room on a mezzanine which was a lovely place to relax after a busy day eating the excellent food in Georgetown. The pool area is a real bonus. Even though the hotel is in the heart of Georgetown, it was very quiet and the plants and fountain made it feel quite serene. A free afternoon tea is served here, which is a lovely touch, where you can try local sweets. Delicious. The staff are excellent. Everything is immaculate, fast and professional but friendly. For example, we asked for some ice to be brought to our room and it arrived in what felt like 30 seconds! As mentioned, the hotel is very well located. Georgetown isn’t exactly massive, but from Seven Terraces, you are walking distance to all the beautiful sites it has to offer. Penang has some of the best food in the world and from the hotel you are no more than 10 mins from everything from a Michelin starred restaurant to a stall selling the most delicious street food you can imagine for pennies. Seven Terraces is literally the best hotel I have ever stayed at!

United KingdomNothing!
This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and was one of the highlights of my trip around Malaysia. The hotel and rooms are much more beautiful than the pictures suggest, and they're pretty good! The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was fantastic and the roof terrace was perfect for a coffee in the morning; these are traditional rooms, so are not light-filled, but you can just open the shutters for more light. Staff were lovely and the hotel served the best breakfast that I had during the whole month of travelling (you have to try the roti paratha); dinner in the restaurant was also delicious and it was really special to have traditional music played during the meal. Don't bother with the Blue Hotel, this place is much better!

Ah what a wonderful place. A fantastic restoration. Well placed in the centre of Georgetown wher you can walk everywhere.A real treat. Not only was the hotel stunningly beautiful but the front desk and all the staff were so nice and ready to help. The rooms were enormous the furniture beautiful, the bathroom gigantic with such a pretty tiled floor. The pool area was a little jewel the breakfast perfect and pancakes light and fluffy, all this before I get on to the restaurant which was authentic with tasty offerings of high quality cuisine. Would I go back? Yes, yes, yes!
