It was all good. You’ll feel welcomed as soon as you step in. Aestethic, cozy. And very near to tourist attraction, only in a few minutes walk. The owner is guess, is so warm. Definitely will recommend this place.

The room was small and the only window opened to the street so it could not be opened. The usually quiet street was sometimes disturbed by a passing trishaw blasting loud music late at night.

Sam runs a laid-back hostel with a friendly atmosphere. It is ideally located in the heart of old Melaka, close to the main attractions and the night market on Jonker Walk. It is clean and the beds are comfortable. The wifi and aircon work well.

Static electricity shocks when touching steels of the bed. Not big issue but can be fixed.

Hostel was very clean and very close to the tourist spots.

Except the size of the room which is quite understandable considering the grand location and nice host.

    Nothing really

Great location, walking distance to everything. Dorm room was clean and quiet and the bed comfortable with an assortment of flat and plump pillows depending on your preference. Also was free drinking water. Sam was super friendly, welcoming and helpful. I would definitely return when in Melaka. Thank you for a lovely staying.

The design of this hostel is quite stunning. As far as the location goes, you can't get more central. For your morning coffee, I recommend the Vietnamese cafe across the hostel. Lovely lady and a tame house hen for your petting pleasure.

Other occupants seem to be smoking at the common area and this is not very comfortable for us. Even the smell of the smoke lingers for quite some time after she smokes. Hope the host will strictly warn them not to smoke here

I stayed 3 days and during the last 1 and half day, I kept getting electric shocks while touching my charger, the curtain's bar, the ceiling (mind that I was on the top bed), my towel and even my blanket had static electricity for the the last two days. I can't say what it was due to but I'm wondering if it wasn't related to my bed's electric plug/socket system. You're meant to use your private badge to turn it own, but after a day, it would still work (i.e. charge my phone) despite me not inserting the badge. I didn't have the opportunity to update the owner on it but if it happens to you, feel free to talk to me, he's a very lovely and helpful person.

This place is very lovely. You have small lockers, a power socket, a bed light, a bed curtain for privacy, soap and shampoo, hangers, sandals/flip flops and a personal towel changed very day. The rooms also has a fan and AC. I got offered two bottles of water when I arrive and you have your own entrance (not the same as the cafe place one). There are plenty of bathrooms and a common space to chill with some plants here and there, a mini fridge (solely for drinks) and available filtered water.

This was probably one of the cleanest hostels I‘ve stayed in! There was a little space next to the mattress to put some stuff at, which I really appreciate. Sam, the owner, is a really nice and caring human. It’s very quiet during the night. The location is excellent. I would really recommend staying here!

If you need rest and you’re a light sleeper, you might want to bring ear plugs in case the other guests are mingling and chatting in the common area.

The first thing that struck me upon arrival was Sam’s gentle demeanor. He’s such a soft-spoken person, and yet he warmly greets you by name each time he sees you, even at 1am when you bump into him quietly watering the plants. 😆 I think one thing that concerns most people in a hostel setting is the shared use of the toilets and showers. Like, would it be inconvenient to have to wait for your turn? Would it be messy to use? Well, if you’re a typical worrier like me, please allay your fears! The toilets and showers were always immediately available when I needed to use them, and they were always clean! So don’t let communal toilets and showers hold you back from making your booking. Ola Hostel feels simple and straightforward, but not to the extent of being spartan or utilitarian. The set up in my room was basic, but it felt cozy because of the lighting and the plush fleecy blanket provided.

Not masses of space for bags in the rooms (under beds and small locker for valuables which could be frustrating. Not the most social, but it depends on who is staying as I met some lovely people to spend the days with!

The hostel is in amongst the main tourist area, and from the minute I arrived the host was very friendly, knew me by name and was very accommodating during my stay. The AC is nice and cold in the rooms, and the bathrooms and common area kept nice and clean. Clean towels daily, drinking water, shampoo and shower gel provided, has a small fridge for drinks in the common area and small cafe attached!
