Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room had no mirrors or storage or hooks to hang towels and clothes. The bathroom was odd as it was on a lower level and have to descend about 4 steps down and although there was a handrail, may pose a fall risk in the dark or anyone with mobility concern. Breakfast was ok but since it was set meals, not much variety if you stay for several days. Beach has a lot of trash and they make good effort to clean it daily but there was still a lot of trash left. The private beach was nice but no service to buy or order food and drinks or towel service. I had to walk all the way back to my room or to the restaurant to get drinks and snacks, which was a distance away. There was a staff at the beach but he was just sitting under the shade, did not come around to offer food or beverage service.
Spacious room with a balcony overlooking the sea. Room smells Heavenly when we first arrived and ac already working and it felt great after the hot boat ride. The private beach was nice as the island could get crowded during the day. All the staff was nice and friendly. Food tasted authentic.

LuxembourgNo working WiFi even in reception, crowds of tourists all day long and trash. One day they were changing fuel that is used to make electricity there and spilled a lot of gasoline into the water. We were snorkeling at the time, got cover in this oil…not to mention the poor reef and animals… we brought this to attention of Marine staff but they seems to care more about selling the tickets than actually preserving the nature there. The hotel is to close and connected with the rest of tourist facilities - it feels like you’re part of a daily trip rather than resort guests
Rooms were clean and spacious. The food in the restaurant was also quite good. We got help with the luggage.

IrelandThere is a strange setup to the hotel/area. Some parts are private and some are public. The pool was in the public section and was not clean. There were cigarette buts everywhere. The restaurant had tasty food but choice of drinks was limited.
Room was fantastic, the beds were very comfortable. The staff were nice and provided us with a packed breakfast as we needed to leave early for our flight. The hotel responded via email promptly too.

United KingdomOnly one restaurant which does a good variety of food. We stayed 3 nights and didn’t leave Manukan and it was good for that but much longer and we would have gotten bored. Mix up with the snorkelling gear due to staff. However the manager did his best to fix this before we left.
Hill top lodges were amazing. Clean, spacious, leads right onto the private beach. Also far enough from the day tourists to feel separate. Cheaper than other resorts in these islands.

United KingdomWarning ..if you are not fit do not go to the hillside Villas as the steps are VERY steep. Only one restaurant with fixed menu so limited in choice for evening meal as we stayed 4 nights.
lovely comfortable room with extra seating area. good air con. Room very near to the reception area and not too near to the main walk way where the day trippers filed in. Breakfast catered for every nationality choices. The private beach had sunbeds and shades and we never had a problem getting one! The beach was clean and the sea warm and a safe snorkelling area was protected by coloured buoys. Many boats came to the island each day so safe area was appreciated and this also kept the coral from boat damage in the "safe" area. Many beautiful fish and healthy coral.

TurkeyLunch and Dinner times Restaurant was too limited. Beverages was too hot as the restaurant fridge was not working. We couldn’t drink cold soft drinks including beer. Wine option available if you buy a bottle only. Room was not cleaned, there was some hairs and dirty places. No drinking water at the room.
Amazing view from hillside villas, and nice private beach. Breakfast is pretty good with different nice alternatives.

Brunei DarussalamSome sand flies, but only bitten when we forget to put repellent oil on.
The villa was lovely, looking out across to the beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Walking in to the sea at 7am and being able to snorkel with no one else around was amazing, seeing loads of fish and coral. Private beach was just that and the staff would bring us drinks and snacks. The Island was busy from 9am until 4pm, but after that we had the place almost to ourselves. We will return.

Hong KongThe « check in team » is very badly organised. Why have the hotel check-in counter at the same place as the hordes of tourists arriving for the day ??? The island It’s truly crowded with groups of tourists during daytime. Luckily there is a small separate private beach for the residents of the hotel.
The island is beautiful and the resort is basic but nice. The food at the restaurant is delicious.

MalaysiaThere were 2 unexpected blacked out that lasted around 10 mins each around 6-7pm. Understandable since the island operates on genset. However kind of ruin the luxury island experience a bit if I were honest.
Nice villas with a private beach and whole island is clean all around.

JapanThere was no WiFi in the villa itself, but good connection in the reception area, and intermittent connection in the restaurant. And (no fault of the hotel of course) we got bitten by sandflies while on the beach.
Our hillside villa was superb - a huge sitting room, large bedroom, and a vast bathroom, plus an outdoor area with a spectacular view out over the beach and sea. It was a lot more upmarket than I had expected! We had a good dinner in the hotel's pleasant open-air restaurant (serenaded by some excellent musicians!), and the breakfast buffet the following morning was also good. The fresh-water swimming pool was large and refreshing. And we saw a lot of fish while snorkelling over the coral off the beach (but only deep enough to do that at high tide). The staff were outstandingly helpful and friendly.

MalaysiaPool was a bit tired looking but good. Having day visitors gave the lodge a different feel and it was a bit uncomfortable at times in terms of respecting local sensitivities but not really a big problem. A bit peeved that we had to pay a lot extra for an earlier boat and found that the lodged used it to transport linen anyway!
Our villa was fantastic and very comfortable. Food was great but a little expensive. Lovely atmosphere in the late afternoon and evening. Snorkeling off the private lodge beach had some lovely coral and fish. Really enjoyed our stay.

SingaporeWish there were blackout curtains (same issue across all of Sabah and in South East Asia in general), so we woke up super early every day. Also our bungalow was spacious but not well insulated and so we had a ton of ants as soon as we brought in a little piece of food. And the AC wasn't cooling much - generally a bit more maintenance wouldn't hurt. But would definitely go back!
The location is exceptional, super quiet island especially once the "mainland" tourists leave at 4pm, the staff super kind, the restaurant really good.

SingaporeGetting to the island can be tricky. After 4pm, you would need to pay MYR300 to get a boat to bring you to the island and that could be arranged in advance. Food options were limited too as there were only one restaurant so wouldn’t recommend to stay more than 2 nights (or bring your own food and snacks!)
Love the hillside villa! Huge 2 storey housing that is comfortable with friendly staff all along the way. Excellent service from the staff at Sutera. Private access to the beach is also available too with a beach volleyball court, lounge chairs etc. Bath towels, beach towels and all toiletries were all provided for.

SwitzerlandThere are just two opportunities to eat on the island, there is no possibility to cook on your own. The food was okay, the service didn't understand english language very well.
We booked one of the hillside lodges and had the private beach just in front of us. The lodge was spacy, comfortable, clean and luxurios with big windows faced to the sea. After the masses of daily tourists left the island at 4:30 pm it was quiet and calm. The staff was very friendly and polite. We would definetly recommend to go there and enjoy the cristal clear sea and sunsets.

SingaporeThe air con need maintenance. It started leaking since day 2. Some black powder drop from ceiling onto the surrounding of toilet bowl, looks like some insects egg . Swimming pool too dirty, look milky, I don think anyone dare to jump in. Food in the restaurant too expensive, mostly rm30 and above for a tiny portion.
Nice water, friendly staff, location is good, nearest to mainland.
