Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Truly exceptional- a wonderful historic hotel in the heart of the city. All the decor was ‘just right’- it had a wonderful atmosphere and felt like a home rather than a museum. All the facilities were to a high standard. All the staff very lovely especially the owner who kindly explained all the different foods served at breakfast.

Lovely stay at 5 Heeren Museum Residence, a fabulous & lovely Peranakan boutique hotel with great collection of antiques & artifacts, compliments with lovely plants & flowers. The staff are very helpful & polite. The owner takes a lot of pride in the hotel & her collection, taking time to explain on the history. The hotel is so kind & generous to offer breakfast for us (although it is not in the package), allowing us to have a taste their home cooked nasi lemak, laksa, prawn noodles, chicken rice balls, fried bee hoon, prata, butter&kaya toast, the assortment of Nyonya kuehs.

FranceI loved our stay at this lovely hotel. Located by the Melaka river in the heart of the town, it is in a fantastic spot to begin your exploration. The breakfasts served at the hotel are wonderful and tasty spreads of the paranakan cuisine that helped us understand the culture, tradition and history of the unique melting pot that Melaka is. The staff are very kind and welcoming and they made sure our stay went marvelously well.

Malaysia1. I think the room is a bit congested, I suggest relooking into this 2. Only display those are needed and maybe an empty small table is needed for guests to put their small belonging like wallets, watch, spectacle and etc
Breakfast is fantastic and the host is great at getting personnel in touch The staff is good and excellent Overall, the Environment is great and clean especially when we need to take off our shoes and go upstairs, this is something new and good, maybe add a shoe rack on the ground floor so we can put shoes more organized

United StatesOur room (207) was facing a really busy street. The noise level made sleeping impossible until 1am and then after 5:30 am. The room is windowless for all practical purposes, because of its location. It didn't feel luxurious at all.
Wonderful staff. It almost hurts to say negative things about the place but truth needs to be told Beautiful common area

Singapore1. Staff quality and training, though helpful, needs a bit more polishing, though, granted that its more of a "homestay" type of hotel, its already not too bad 2. Honestly, at this price range, one would have easily compared it against the MNC brands like Four Seasons, Marriot etc, so I think if you are looking beyond the exquisite architecture and getting yourself inundated in peranakan treasures, then you'd be in for a little disappointment when it comes to service quality and the like that makes it "worth paying for", since its the most expensive hotel around in Malacca, it's fair to subject 5 Heeren to the greatest scrutiny!
1. It was a beautiful hotel with all the trinkets and curiosities of the past, so if you are a history lover or someone who loves peranakan architecture and treasures in general, it would have made yours a great stay! 2. Great personal touches with the breakfast served at 5 Heeren, a lovely spread of quality peranakan food served, all homemade with love and painstakingly prepared by the staff at the hotel. 3. Full privacy once behind the glass doors, since outsiders are not allowed in, definitely a great plus point if you want to stay away from all the nosy crowds and the tourists along Jonker Street.

SingaporeOur room was facing the street so it can get very noisy at night , with the "pikachu" songs playing.
Very unique, cozy and lovely hotel. Friendly owner, gave us very warm welcome and explained a lot of things. The hotel is full of interesting design and things to see and explore. The room size is adequate, comfortable, with a traditional bed. It also locates in the center of the city, within walking distance to all the attractions and things to do.

AustraliaThis is a unique place to stay. The building is old and decorated with antiquity and old knick-knacks, but the bedrooms and bathrooms are totally modernised. The owner was a fantastic hostess, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was amazing with local delicacies. Next time I am in Malacca, this will be where I will want to stay.
