Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThere are tiny ants all over kitchen. Need to be careful as they can go all over the house. It is more of a hippie island so understandable.
Great Airbnb, very nice size, lovely balcony. Quiet, nice pool area for relaxing and rarely busy. Good spot to relax and gorgeous building. It's a well equipped kitchen if you want to cook. It's next to Punta Coco and the best beaches on the island. The downside is it's a 30min walk to the center, and there are only a few restaurants closer walking distance. A cab will cost $15/$20 one way.

United KingdomThe noise of the building work above my apartment was too much and some agreement should have been made. A time that the building work stopped should have been agreed - say 17.00. The work continued until 19.00 in the evening. For 3 evenings I used noise cancelling headphones!
The distance from the centre and the long walks along the beach - 7 miles a day with no shoes !

United StatesThe pictures were deceptive, the appartment looks at the road, not the swimming pool, also the windows are to the east- south, so the curtains need to be drawn most of the day. Not enough space to hang and dry things after the beach. The chairs are not suitable hight to the tables. The kitchen table jammed the blinds - a clear design defect. The bicicle provided is not useable. However it is easy to rent bikes in town for 200mxn a day. Bicicle are the best mode of transportation all around the island.
It is a modern building and appartment, nice furnishings, design, well stocked kitchen. Clean and comfortable bed and bedding. We liked the location of the building but one needs a bicicle to move around. The bioluminescence bay and a nice little bar is nearby, the closest restaurant is the best for food.

United KingdomThe lack of infrastructure of the island makes the location a nightmare to get to and from- making it really isolating. When we visited, the island was flooded and the area around the apartment was not clean which led to some pretty disgusting knee deep puddles (well more like lakes) which you couldn’t avoid. The beach nearby was full of sargassum (amongst other things such as barbed wire) so unless the tide was out this made the beach walk back not fun. The island are basically pumping the flood water into the sea…. Around to Punta Cocos and the other end of the island- the beach is cleaner/nicer (likely due to the 5* star hotels fronting onto the beach) but you still have to embrace these puddles to get any sort of access to the beach and anywhere to be honest. We had ankle high water shoes with us and still found it a unpleasant and stressful walk every time. Around the hotel the only place you can go without dealing with these is the 5* hotel restaurant but that’s not really why we visited Holbox. There is the option of a taxi but you will have to pay 300/400 pesos each way to the center (hiked due to the floods but using the recommended taxis which give a preferential rate to the apartments!?!) and they might not even turn up. Like what happened when we were trying to catch the 7:30am ferry back to the mainland which summed up the experience for us to be honest- we booked days in advance and confirmed the night before as well…. Appreciate all this is largely out of control of the apartments (but I feel they could have been more open about the situation- we were only told to restrict our water usage due to issues on the island but nothing about the flooding and access). It really impacted our stay and left a sour taste of the island. We wouldn’t have stayed here if we had known this before our stay.
The apartment is comfortable and modern with a nice balcony BUT…..

United KingdomThe location. Right at the very end of the island in Punta Cocos where there are a lot of mosquitoes and you get swarmed by them. As a result of this, you also cannot use the pool outside. Also, as the island is not very developed, travelling to and from the property can be difficult and extortionate as the golf taxis can charge whatever they like. When we asked the staff to change our towels as we were staying for 6 nights, they asked us for extra money which is ridiculous as we paid over £1000 ($23,000mxn) for our stay.
New property, so it has most modern amenities you require from a stay.

United KingdomNothing - the place is quite far out of the centre but that made it peaceful. You can walk in in 20 minutes or so with some effort to dodge the big puddles on the road. Or get a taxi. So didn’t bother me. But not ideal if you want to be centre of the action.
Everything about the property was great. Really nice space. Every little detail covered (iron, hairdryer, beach, olive oil for cooking and shower towels). Communal space around the pool is a bit sparse but really nice.
