Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. IndiaWe knew this beforehand, but note that you're not on the main beach strip in Tulum, but rather in a jungle area 15-20 mins away - this was a plus for us, but you should be aware before booking
The location was great: beautiful jungle property that is tastefully designed, the staff is attentive and friendly, the free activities included with the stay are amazing including daily cenote tours and yoga

United KingdomNothing, was perfect!
Wakax was hands down the best place we stayed whilst in Mexico, the added (free) excursions that you get really make the experience. You can wander/ cycle around the whole estate, I really wish we had more than 3 days here! The underground cenote is a must! Arturo was an amazing guide and we really felt looked after by him and the rest of the staff.

After 3 days , you are still amazed by discovering the hacienda . The staff is probably the best staff I ever met. Not a person in particular, every single person from room cleaners, restaurant to reception people . Thats a fabulous management DNA .

United Kingdom- The food offering (not quality which was good!) - One restaurant with limited menu (though appreciate they are building another one and can see the infrastructure there for more). - Same menu each day for lunch and dinner. quite a lot of beef (7 main options) - which we don’t eat and then another 7 to cover vegetarian, seafood, pork etc. Quite a few of the options I wouldn’t consider filling mains - Breakfast: We booked on Booking.Com with breakfast included. Hadnt appreciated this would be a “set menu”, there are plenty of main options but restricted vs the broader menu - Tips: Given they have a captive audience (most people don’t leave Wakax while they are there) Id recommend they consider (1) Revising their menu or having daily specials to offer variety (2) A bar snacks menu (tacos, crisps, nuts) (3) Having sides on the menu. I ordered the shrimp - I got 5 shrimps. no sides on the menu available (vegetables, sweet corn, potato etc)
- Incredible estate with only approx 50 rooms. Thoughtfully curated… very calm and serene - Beautifully designed rooms (we had a junior casita suite with terrace) and broader estate (relaxing lounges, church etc) - Great actually included (bikes for use, underground river tour, daily yoga and bike rides, paddle boarding etc) - Private cenotes and pools etc! - Fantastic value for money, they are continuing to expand a little (another restaurant, bar etc) and so lucky we were one of the early ones to stay here but also intrigued to see how it develops further - Attentive service

United KingdomCourses in the restaurant were served too quickly - you were still eating the starter when the main course arrived. If breakfast is included, there should simply be a credit applied and deducted from anything ordered. It would make life easier for everyone. I ordered eggs in a different style and was asked to sign for a full free breakfast as well as the eggs that were not included. Just a bit odd
Chilled, relaxed and away from all the noise of Tulum. Accomodation very private and spread around a vast area at the edge of the jungle. Fabulous underground river tour with Gonzalo and lovelely Cenote and large lake on site. Very personal service in restaurant, thanks Luis! Chill all the way. Apart from that a lot of effort and money has been spent to build this beautiful Hacienda. There are 3 pools and beautiful grand communal buildings and spaces to explore

United Kingdom- Location: luckily we stayed in Tulum town for two nights prior to Wakax. Would recommend to do this , as we were able to cycle to the ruins and main beach, which would not be possible from Wakax (it’s off a large highway). - Transport: reception tried to push taxis on us for our destinations (Akumal and Tulum) which were extremely overpriced (around 800 pesos to Akumal and back). We then heard about the collectivo on a review of Akumal. The collectivo is amazing and will pick you up outside the hotel (just need to flag it down) and drop you at Akumal/Tulum (for a fraction of the price). The hotel should inform guests about this as it’s a great service instead of pushing overpriced taxis. would also recommend the hotel sets up a shuttle to Tulum town. - Hotel tours: we took a tour with Gonzalo round the hotel grounds. Could have been slightly adjusted (spent around an hour in a farm in 30 degree heat). We then took a dip in the ‘secret’ lake. Nice lake but as it’s not shared widely with the guests is really lacking safety wise. My aunt unfortunately slipped whilst getting out of the lake and gashed her leg, requiring 3 hours and $1000+ at the nearest hospital. A set of stairs (like in the main lake) would have prevented this. Gonzalo was caring and drove and stayed with us at the hospital but was a completely preventable accident.
This hotel is a perfect escape and great place to relax. We loved paddle boarding on the lake and the yoga classes in the morning. The food is great and the restaurant staff are amazing. Hotel full of little touches like lighting candles in the turn down service. Would definitely recommend to stay here as part of your trip to Tulum, it’s a really unique hotel and a must see.

AustriaThe only downside for us, was the restaurant. On one side, the food we had was really good so no complaints there. The only issue we had is that we felt it was rather on the expensive side. But we solved this by going into the city to eat at night (hence would recommend having a car for flexibility).
This place was an absolute dream for our final stay in Mexico. We arrived very late in the night so we were a bit unsure about our choice since it was completely dark BUT once there was light out the property is really amazing - you have your own cenote, lagoon, beautiful place for yoga, free biked to explore the hacienda, etc. Personally Tulum, both city and beach did not impress us so we were extremely happy that we chose Wakax to stay there. Also, since the property is so big, we felt sometimes like we had the entire place to ourselves which was lovely.

GermanyOur room was very comfortable with a huge closet area and a beautiful tree in the middle. We had bikes to discover the property and loved strolling around. Starting the day with a yoga class was perfect, even for someone who never did yoga before (my husband). The different tours offered by Gonzo made our stay even more special and amazing. The blue lake, nohoch cenote, the lagoon and pools make this resort more amazing than any other place we‘ve visited. The service, especially Luis, made our stay very enjoyable and we felt well taken care off. Being vegetarian is not always easy, but this hotel offers great vegan alternatives and keeps everyone very happy. The breakfast is a bit expensive. But on the other hand, every activity is free and you pay only for drinks and food. We noticed that the management reads all reviews and recommendations and actually implemented a lot of the previous recommendations, so here are our ideas to make the experience even more perfect :😁 - One big mirror would be useful - An alternative shower-head would be helpful, the rain shower is perfect and I loved it, but sometimes it’s not practical. - Water-cook and Tee as alternative to coffee would be great. One of the Huts had great tee selection, but there were no filters. - The restaurant had green tea, but sometimes it was brewed for too long and it was bitter (green tee should not be brewed for longer than 3min).

United StatesNot an actual negative but it can get a little pricey. But worth it.
This resort is by FAR one of the best places to stay. - Daily cleaning of room. Towels. And clothing left on the floor flawlessly folded. - Food from the restaurant was all fresh incredibly tasty (Little expensive but what do you expect at the resort) - The location itself is absolutely stunning. The units guests stay in are huts located thought the jungle connected with gravel walk ways with endless torches lining them and stone walls on both side. Almost like survivor the TV show vibes. - Cenotes beyond belief beauty. - Daily free yoga sessions in incredibly locations with great instructors. - underground cenote cavern experience included in stay - you are given very high quality bicycles to ride through the place. - The palace is literally Pablo Escobar level quality and beauty with gorgeous arches. Flawlessly manicured lawn courtyards. The colors and beauty of this place is arguably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Please stay here and quit looking for anywhere else. Between Cancun and Tulum. Only 15min from the city. The front desk has a 24/7 service through whatsapp. You don't need to call the front but you can. They respond incredibly quick. Order cabs or reserve activities like the jungle bicycle trek with Gonzalo. Who is an amazing guide. He's so intelligent. I'm talking genius level. His English is meticulous. Probably has better grammar than most ppl with English being a 2nd language. Super enthusiastic. The tezmacal shaman experience is 120$ per person for a private experience. Or 80$ ea for mors that 3+. But I recommend the private without a doubt. Absolutely incredible. The location deep deep in the jungle. They have golf carts they take you around the complex with. This place is easily an 11/10 star location. You will not experience anything like this in the surrounding area. STAY HERE THANK ME LATER. NOTHING COMPARES.

NetherlandsNot really about the hotel but more about the area - recommended to rent a car to go here, although the city, beach and archaeological site are not far(10-20 min by car), taxi’s are very expensive.
The hacienda is enormous- multiple pools, places to swim in the private cenotes, yoga, tours, and simply walking around the facilities keeps you busy for a couple days. Staff is super kind and always ready to help.

RomaniaThese are just some recommendations : - please highlight somehow the entrance from the street of the hotel as it can get pretty challenging during the night - some of the activities were not properly advertised or mentioned, for example Yana's sessions / treatments. I would've liked to benefit more from them had I known from the beginning - I enjoy fresh local fruit in the morning so perhaps you could consider something like a fruit bar for breakfast?
The Hacienda is spread on 160 hectares of amazing nature and you get to enjoy the beauty of the jungle while benefiting from 5 star luxury. A great work was done to preserve the structure and architecture of the original Hacienda and a lot of work is still ongoing to turn it into an even more amazing resort. Great service, good food and nice people - you feel welcomed and pampered from day 1. But the best thing about this resort are the activities included: the tours with Gonzales were really great, so much information and stories shared, he is like a walking encyclopedia :). All the yoga classes I attended were really good, and Yana's sound healing sessions were extremely pleasant - she is such a nice and warm person. In addition you have a bike at your disposal, free use of kayaks, SUPs, pools, rivers, lakes, you name it! :) I had a wonderful time at the Hacienda Wakax and would love to return!

United KingdomWhat a wonderful place this is! We absolutely loved everything about it. There is so much we learnt about Mayan culture in there and loved being so close to nature but also enjoyed the luxurious amenities. The room looked like an art gallery. The best part of the stay was the activities like the underground river tour, yoga, cycling and the paddle boarding and kayaking in the cenote. The food in the restaurant was so tasty. Just the most awesome place we've been to in Mexico! Do not miss it! The level of service is just beyond. Everyone were super nice to us, from the guy in the gate, to the reception crew and the tour guy Gonzalo. This place takes care of you! They have tours of the property and an underwater caves tour, for free. The hospitality cleaned our room every time we were out and made sure nothing is missing. They have few pools that are very nice and the food in the restaurant was really good. Yoga clesses are also included as well as kayaks, sap and boats in the Cenotes. United StatesThere was nothing we didn't like, but just a few suggestions for the owners: The bikes are great to have but are not cut out for the environment, so they are already rusting/ not working very well. Recommend single speed belt driven bikes instead. There's a bit of a language barrier at the restaurant. That's totally my fault, it's your country I should learn Spanish! But it might be helpful to number the food menu, that way when I choose an item on the English menu the server knows what it corresponds to on the Spanish menu. The rooms need do not disturb signs. Housekeeping is very eager but we were sick a few times, would have been helpful to avoid having to explain that to them when they kept coming by. The rooms should be better sealed. There's big gaps all around the exterior doors that allows a ton of heat in. The air conditioner, which was far from the bed, had to work way too hard 24/7 and still wasn't very successful at cooling. Some air sealing would improve comfort and save you money! A unique, hard to describe place, we'll be back!
Amazing location. Tucked away in the jungle and clearly the least possible damage was done to build the resort. Trees etc left intact wherever possible. Clearly built by someone who would rather build than waste time sketching! Great mix of traditional architecture and modern amenities. Loved the cenote and the lake. The pools are also very nice... Once you actually find them. We loved the bike tour, fun way to meet other guests (few) as well. My wife loved the underground river (not for me!) but so cool to have all that on the property. The staff were all wonderful. The food was delicious if perhaps over ambitious, some simpler options, especially for breakfast would be nice. There was some construction happening (off season) but it wasn't very disturbing and they preemptively gave us a discount at the restaurant, which was appreciated. I do recommend a rental car if you're planning to head into town and it makes getting in and out of the long driveway easy.

United KingdomThere could be more options in the 1 restaurant on the whole property since you need to drive if you want to eat anywhere else. It was a bit expensive for the food. Lots of mosquitoes but you are in the jungle and the hotel provides nice bug spray.
Staying in the jungle was a fun experience with all the amenities of biking, swimming in the cenotes/pools, paddle boarding in the lake and tours around the property. The room is very nice, everything was clean.
