Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PhilippinesNone. Everything was excellent!
The location is awesome if you want to be near the beach and all the popular locations in Tulum. The staff were very nice and accommodating with all my queries and were able to answer all the questions I had. And Honey, the dog, was a wonderful addition to the staff when going to the front desk.

United KingdomIt would have been nice if the bikes were free of charge. A lot of hôtels do that.
It was perfect for what I needed. Peaceful, quiet, just a little bit of music on the beach. beautiful space. loved the outdoor shower. massages on site. restaurant on site for daytime. In the evening I went to the Italian restaurant right in front of the hotel. My cat was happy. The staff was careful with my cat. The restaurant is a bit pricey compared to the hotel but it’s Tulum price I guess.

United States of AmericaThe rooms were very minimal for the price. No television, coffee maker etc. There was air conditioning but the air was still very stagnant and nothing was able to dry. The noise from the other rooms was terrible! You could hear everything from next door and above. The food at the restaurant was over priced and not that good.
The beach was wonderful. The staff kept it clean of seaweed and the swimming was great!

United States of AmericaThis is such a great place. Perfect location right on the beach. The staff goes above and beyond to help. It’s my second stay here the manager has made so many renovations. Dog friendly. The room was so cute. Great ceviche and fruit and food. I can’t say enough good things. This is great value I really couldn’t have asked for more

United States of AmericaThe Alquimia Hotel Boutique is right on the ocean. They probably have the best beach beds of anywhere I saw. Full 4-post beds with drapes and pillows on the beach. The staff was very kind and helpful. I only spent 2 nights but it was relaxing and nice. The beach was a bit windy during the day but that has nothing to do with the hotel.

New ZealandPut me in a room without windows where the booking.com pictures clearly had windows. Shower was rubbish - only warm water and those shell showerheads really don't work. Forgot to bill half the cost up front. Restaurant not open at breakfast or dinner. I don't expect a lot as it is cheap but felt this was poor value for money.
Close to the beach.

Great place. Eco Container rooms are super affordable for what you get, beds are super comfortable and house keeping does a great job every day. the hotel is on the beach and has great beds to relax on and a bar/restaurant to get drinks at. The infinity pool was also great. if you go don’t forget the get a massage too, for $20 you can’t beat them. Overall experience was great. Thanks to our host, the hotel dog Honey, and the best waiter in Tulum, Erben.

United States of AmericaMost everything was a horrible and horrifying experience at this hotel. I have been to Tulum multiple times and I have stayed at a handful of beachfront hotels. This was shockingly horrible. The manager or woman who checked us in- not welcoming. At one point just screamed at the top of her lungs during our check in, I think a piece of paper was slipping off her desk. I get to my room, it was an upgrade because it had a bathroom in the room. There were no windows in the room, no night stands, no safe, and walls were made out of bamboo slats or something so the AC unit was deemed useless since it was almost like an indoor/outdoor situation. There were also 2 LED light bulbs illuminating the room, one of which was flickering. I took a shower and after 2 minutes it shut off and did not come back on. This happened 2 more times. The staff leaves at 6 PM every day. When the staff asked how everything was- I answered and let them know how horrible and uncomfortable my friends and I were and she shrugged and said "we just work here". I was like ok well than who is in charge? And she said people who live "far, far away". As soon as I got to the room my wifi AND cell service no longer worked. the staffer told me she was sending someone. The next day I asked and she said they were not staffer to send someone. The toilet leaked so there was always a big puddle around the toilet. Though the location is good, the lounges by the beach were old and covered in uncomfortable cracked plastic. The restaurant/ bar closed at 6 as well. As my friend and I ordered our 1 drink for the evening the bartender said he had to leave but asked if he could come back after hours to hang out and swim with us. We firmly told him no. He asked if he could "have s*xo" with both of us and continued to beg. There was someone at all times during the day using some type of machinery. We felt unsafe the entire time, and had to pre pay so felt stuck .
The only positive I can think of for this hotel is the location. It is ocean front and near all of the bars/restaurants/actual good hotels.

DenmarkWhere to start. First of all, the place was expensive, but the room.. we were eating by mosquitoes every night, the aircondition was to small to cool the room - probably because the roof wasn't sealed and there were cracks and holes in the floor, which gave free entrance to both cockroaches and even a black scorpion one of the nights. The hotel was a ghost town. We were the only one staying there for 6 nights even though neighbour hotels were fully booked, and we "talked" to the hotel via the booking.com chat. No one came to greet us or make us feel welcome. The hotel is located quite south and all taxies have fixed prices. That means going anywhere is extremely expensive (compared to mexican standards) and eating out? Oh my good. We basically starved ourselves, because we simply could't match our budget to eat out in Tulum 3 times a day. That is not on the hotel, but Tulum. It is a horrible place.
The hotel is right on the beach, and the beach beds are just perfect! The pool is - when turned on - very nice! The cleaning personal and the guards are friendly, as are the beach bar staff.

United States of AmericaPoor check-in experience.. we arrived at 7pm and had to search to find the door as there were no indicators. The room was ok but stank of mildew. And then there's the bathroom. We had to leave the room from the front door (visible to the whole hotel) to walk through a horribly-lit corridor to the back of the room in order to use the bathroom. The bathroom also had no ceiling or cover of any type so good luck when the weather is not great. Oh and the barrier between the toilet and the corridor is a dingy old shower curtain. I've stayed in rooms with outdoor bathrooms but ones that I could access from the back of the room and had privacy and uhm a door with a lock. This was a bit of a joke.
Located right on the beach.
