Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo minibar or fridge in the room. One, small bottle of water and only coffeemate in the room which is no good if you like real milk with your coffee. WIFI was a bit patchy to start. The sitting area in the room is not really usable because of the heat (the air con unit is in the bedroom only). There is an outdoor patio in the room as well but it didn't look very appealing so we didn't use it. No sheer curtains for privacy. The pool is only knee-deep so you can't really swim in it, also no pool towels. The staff didn't tell us the closing time for the room service/restaurant at check-in so we missed it otherwise we would have ordered but they did lend us cutlery to use for the UberEats we ordered instead, which was appreciated.
Large, comfy bed with soft sheets and great pillows. Slept like a baby. Blackout curtains. Great water pressure in the shower and hotel-branded amenities were cute and smelt yummy! The towels were super soft and fluffy too. Nespresso machine and kettle in the room. Large, new flat screen Samsung tv which worked well. Netflix, Apple TV, and cable channels are included. Large room with separate sitting area with couch. Nice modern decor. Also, room service is available and there is a bar/restaurant on site. Generous 12pm checkout time. Love the style and grounds of the hotel, especially the Merida "you and me" chair in the garden and the murals in the reception.

CanadaIn-room coffee maker was difficult to operate and the Hotel ran out of coffee capsules for the rooms :( Fortunately, there was always good coffee at the bar. A power bar for charging phones, laptops would be helpful so you don’t have to unplug lamps. Private pool is more of a trough with cold water. It was fun to cool off in on first day. It collected leaves though and we found it empty, part way through our week long stay. The central pool is much better. Beautifully illuminated at night.
Most attentive, helpful, kind staff. We felt like family. Uniformed staff very good about masks. We felt safe. Beautiful setting. Outdoor pool was warm and beautiful. Breakfast (fruit, sweet bread, coffee or juice) is good. You can order and pay for more substantial meals. Friendly bartender with great selection. He greeted us with a welcome drink when we arrived. Front desk staff was always available. They were quick to offer umbrella in the rain and rushed to unlock our room safe after it reset itself and wouldn’t open (!). Cleaning staff very kind and went to extra effort to help with laundry and finding coffee capsules. Efficient quiet AC in room and ceiling fan with easy to locate controls on wall. Simple elegant furnishings and decor. Very clean. No carpet :)

United StatesThe room was even larger than expected and included a sofa that was not shown on the website, which was a nice surprise! Very clean and comfortable king size bed. Modern amenities while maintaining some Yucatán charm. The breakfast included a plate of fresh fruit, pasties, coffee or juice that were all fresh and tasty. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. As a bonus we were able to bring our small dog along for a reasonable up charge. I would recommend Hotel Unknown to anyone!!

FranceThe « continental breakfast » included in the room price is very (too?) basic: Coffee or Juice, Fruits, Bred. We always added on top the DELICIOUS pancakes, waffles & granola. The pizzas are frozen.
The whole place is very beautiful (colors, material) & quiet. 15mn away from Merida city center, making it only a small walk away, while being far enough from the city fuzz & tourists shops. Our room was spacious & very confortable, especially the beds. Its decorated with taste, from furniture to bathroom (shower was great). The pool is really nice for a little break in a hot afternoon. Staff is very caring.

CanadaHotel staff were very loud starting at 8am. Cutting trees down outside my room.. Cleaning staff very loud every day. It's not a place to get a good sleep. I would not return. There are many nicer options close by. The room didn't have a fridge which is very strange. No cold drinks.
The pool was very nice and clean.

United StatesWalls are pretty thin, so you hear your neighbours clearly. Most of our neighbours came back every night at 4 am after clubbing and woke us up and kept us awake. They let people bring pets too which is great, but most guests go out and leave their pets in their rooms all day, and they howl continually. The wifi is really unreliable too. We had several days with no wifi at all. This is supposed to be a four star hotel.
Good hotel, good value for money, located in a quiet nieghborhood about 10 blocks (20 min walk) from the historical centre. Spacious room with very big comfy bed. Instant hot water and they clean the room everyday. Staff were all very helpful and kind, especially Mario!

NetherlandsDirty floor, flimsy door and lock to your room, distant staff that generally just didn’t care beyond checking you in and didn’t speak any English, pool was warm and shallow and did not get filtered or cleaned at all. No noise isolation in your room because of the doors, so we had to listen to a lot of screaming children from inside our room.
Spacious and modern room with nice styling. The surroundings looked really pretty. A quick 15 min walk to the city center. Neighborhood is pretty nice with some cute bars and restaurants nearby. Really quiet at night.

NetherlandsWe had two rooms, but one ended-up having no electricity, so no light, no air-conditioning and not even a fan. They knew since 17:00 but did nothing to solve the problem and we had to use it for the night. The morning after we asked them to book us a taxi but it never arrived and when we complained about it, the staff was just plain rude back to us. One of them even insulted us. Very unprofessional.
Nice pool and the rooms look good.

Australiathe night staff sleep in a cement base in front of the bar: inhumane conditions! the staff is very helpful and deserve better working conditions.
the average night is $100 USD, sure the hotel would be able to have more than 1 ingredient in the scrambled eggs, they won't...never heard of such restriction!

United KingdomThey haven't figured the details. At breakfast, coffee is included but tea had a cost (why?). Wifi was set per room so couldn't connect by the pool, unless your room was next to it (which many were). This is easily fixable. Bar had no soft drinks and no basics such as limes (they had run out - for all 3 days we were there - again, why?). Despite being open, the bar rarely had the lights on, making it look unappealing. A shame as the core of the hotel is magnificent.
At the core, this hotel is amazing - dreamy pool, beautiful rooms, and good location on the edge of the centre of Merida (15 mins walk - but the cantinas are closer as not in the tourist bits - so great for finding jazz / salsa)

GermanyWe booked this place with breakfast, unfortunately the staff doesn't seem to communicate this under each other who has breakfast included and who doesn't. So both times we went for breakfast this guy wanted to charge and us brought the bill. The rooms are not good isolated, you hear everything from outside and other rooms.
The room is really spacious and I liked the modern interior design. The bed was really comfortable and the patio area + the pool were clean. Breakfast itself was ok

United StatesThere was a general lack of attention to some details. For example, our room did not have a safe as advertised. They were very good and responded quickly and took a safe out of another room and placed in my room and I appreciated that. When we first checked into our room the toilet will not flush. The maintenance guy came straight away and worked on it for about 45 minutes I got it working again. Next, when I tried to take a shower there was absolutely no hot water. Turns out the on-demand water heater in our room was broken. Had to take a cold shower that morning but by the time I returned they had replaced it with a new unit. These were inconveniences to be sure, and it would’ve been nicer if we had not had to keep coming back asking for them to fix things. Also Trying to sit out and enjoy the pool one day. The pool is beautiful but there are three wooden chairs and two loungers. Both of the loungers are significantly broken and not usable. They should be thrown away and replaced.
Very comfortable bed, nice sheets and good pillows and the air conditioner worked great. The room was attractive as were the grounds of the hotel. Plus I felt really safe there.

IndiaBreakfast was included but was very basic with no options. A basket of pastries and a plate of fruit. Not much to eat if you're vegan (i.e. just the fruit). The place was a bit out of the centre which could have been awkward, but Uber helped a lot. It was kind of a noisy place at night, but that might have just been our room as it sounded like we were under a water tank.
Great welcome drinks. The hotel was gorgeous, very clean and huge rooms. It's one of the nicest rooms I've been in and they provided great bathroom toiletries. The pool area was lovely although we didn't use it!

United StatesThe walking area was a hazard. The bed was new but very hard. The hotel manager tried to charge me twice for the stay even though I paid through booking. On having to prove that I had already paid, I was charged a “deposit” of $94 USD and I don’t know why. I was told I would get it back, but I have not. Staff thought someone besides me had entered my room and stayed while I was out all day. very disturbing. Be sure to lock your doors. The hotel is in a residential area, so there are children playing and screaming all day, dogs barking all night. Now... the hotel cannot refund the extra deposit they charged me. So be ready to pay more than expected.
It was clean. Since it is far from anywhere interesting by walking, you need to call a taxi which usually arrive within 5 minutes. Some of the rooms look like they have a safe, that would be great since security is a concern, however my room did not have a safe as shown in the photos.
