Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMaybe a few more cups in the kitchen would be good but otherwise everything is great
Really chilled and friendly vibe, with nice artistic touches around. Good common area to eat and hang out and lovely garden and roof top terrace for incredible views of the city. It is just by the Iglesia de Guadelupe which had best sunset views in the city. Also no more than 15 mins to walk to all central things /attractions. Also Luis (the owner) and his staff create such a friendly creative and inclusive place to be also sharing great knowledge of stuff going on in the city. We had great fun with everyone and will definitely be back

EcuadorNone of the tents closed all the way, and the area where the tents are gets wet easily from the rain. It felt like we were out of water (not drinking water) more often than not, but this is not the fault of the hostel.
The staff and volunteers are all super nice. The kitchen is well equipped and there's a lot of space in the hostel to relax. The price is very cheap all things considered. The breakfast was more than I was expecting honestly.

United KingdomThe indoor shower for private rooms was always cold but we learned later that you had to ask for the heater to be turned on, would have been good to know at check-in. The internal room was also pretty hot, there was a fan but it was very noisy however you can't really complain for what you pay.
Volunteers were very friendly and helpful and the private room is very good value for money. Lovely view from the rooftop.

BelgiumBreakfast was good: every day something radically different, sometimes very good tasting and original. I slept one night in a tent and slept like a baby there (with earplugs). Helpful and chill employees, who spoke good English. They were chill by letting me hang around some more because I had to wait for my night bus the day of my checkout. Great atmosphere: easy to talk to people, lots of people coming over playing musical instruments. Nice view over the town, so the name of the hostel is no lie.

GermanyI arrived in the evening and was told that they had an issue with the system and were overbooked, so there would only be a tent available for me the first night. The tent was broken, it didn't close, which didn't make it a great arrival. In the end it wasn't that bad, since there were no mosquitos and they provided lots of blankets. I just wished they had informed me earlier, so you actually have a choice to go find another place, since not everyone fancies a tent in cold San Cristobal after arriving from a 11h bus ride in the dark. I guess they know you have no other choice, since most places are fully booked. Also, I heard from other guests staying that they had the same issue, so maybe it's not even a problem with the booking system but rather a thing they do when guests in the dorm extend their stay, not sure. I still ended up having a nice stay thanks to the overall atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. Just get that problem fixed or communicate it earlier and everything is perfect.
Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, tasty breakfast and great view from the rooftop. Overall recommend!

Camillo did an excellent job and helped us with anything we needed! Hostel Mirador is truly a hidden gem in San Cristóbal. The beds were very comfortable, there was free (delicious) breakfast, hot water for showers, and a great vibe! Everyone was very friendly. This was definitely the best hostel that I have stayed at in Mexico - I wish we could've stayed longer!

PolandThere are some pretty amazing hostels in san cristobal. For the price, it didn't deliver the same value as some others we stayed at.
Very quiet location with no noise from the street. The bed was comfortable and warm. Breakfast was good but pretty small, would be nice if there was some milk and cereal or something else you can serve yourself.

CanadaWe happened to get a room that shared a wall/window with the main common space and kitchen area. So it was a bit noisy. Light sleepers may mind this. But overall it was a great stay!
Good vibes here! Nice view from the roof top space. The breakfast changed everyday and was very tasty. The volunteers are very sweet. We liked the location, at the very top of real Guadalupe...the walking street. And our bed was very comfy!

BelgiumThe water was out for 1,5 day so we couldn't use showers and toilets or do the dishes, so everything was dirty, it was really gross and uncomfortable. Our room was next to the common room and like in all the hostels, there's no isolation at all, so kind of noisy..
We stayed a few nights in this hostel, the volunteers working here were very friendly, fun and helpful! Beautiful view over San Cristobal from the roof!
