Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

AustraliaThe portable AC is noisy while the wall mounted AC is weak. Also main door lock is damaged. A buffet breakfast would enhance the experience.
The location on the beach.

GermanyThe prices for food and drinks where extremely high. I am ready to spend money on good food and drinks but in this place it felt just bad to spend so much money on ordinary stuff. Thats the only criticism I have. The rest was perfect.
Perfect location in the natural reserve directly by the beach. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Live music every night. The common bathrooms and showers were always very clean and desinfected. The staff was always very friendly.

AustraliaWith the deluxe tent, even a chair in the tent or small seating available just outside would be great! Difficult to figure out best way to get to the hotel as instructions weren't always clear. Would be great if hotel offered a shuttle (even for a fee) or something similar. Like other reviews, food in this area is very expensive. We found the food at the glamping restaurant ok. The best thing about the restaurant is its setting compared to others we went to. Other places along the beach served better quality food for around the same price in our opinion. We did enjoy matcha mama though for a healthy breakfast. A couple we liked were: - Casona (slightly cheaper, good portion size) - short 5 min walk within Playa esperanza - Mezzanine (Thai food and also a beach club menu) at the southern end of the beach - about 20 min walk. Great deck and tasty Thai food.
Beautiful spot by the beach and lovely landscaped facilities. Tent was comfortable and very glad to have had air con during the hot days. Shared showers and bathrooms were kept clean. Matcha Mama was a great option for smoothies and smoothie bowls in the morning. Enjoyed the live music that they had at the restaurant most nights. Nice addition to provide a free yoga class if you wanted it. A couple things that might be good to know for future travellers: - we caught a taxi to the entrance of the national park at the main hotel zone (zona hotelera) and it cost us $300 pesos. We then walked into the park, having to pay the national park fee. It was about a 2km walk. The hotel is not the easiest to find. You go through a stone archway on the right called Playa Maya, turn immediately left into a car park and walk all the way to the end. Reception is a small building on your right. -there are lots of options to rent a bike and that could be an alternative option to get into the park depending on luggage. - You do need to pay the national park entry fee every time you re-enter the park. We didn't leave the park as you can access the ruins from the national park and enjoyed a couple of days along the beach so we only paid the entry fee once. - there are lots of food options (see a couple of our preferences below) along the beach, most are on Google maps so within a short walk you can find other options if you were interested. - As others have noted, there is a minimum spend for the big day beds on site (which we were told was USD$50), but there are lots of other seating options that don't require any spend that guests can use for free (bean bags, lounge chairs, seating near the restaurant)

Czech RepublicI wouldn't recommend it to people who don't want to go camping or have a shared toilet/shower.
The GlampIkal concept is wonderful. You sleep in contact with nature, hearing only the wind, ocean and birds. The tents are cozy and ours was 1 minute away from the sea front. The bar has live music or djs every evening and serves yummy food. The yoga lessons in front of the sea are a must as well! All cured in the small details. The common showers are clean and well kept.

United KingdomThe restaurant needs an overhaul in terms of inspiration for the service and the menu. I don't think it will change but hey there are lots of options around the hotel to dine. Therefore, deducted two points out of 10. The communal toilets and showers didn't work for a few days but they were quickly resolved in the morning. This is okay because the hotel is located in the restricted area limiting development of a typical resort infrastructure.
I stayed there for 8 days with an intention to be a beach bum 😁 and I was not disappointed at all with the choice. The location allowed me to swim, read and be on the beach. For me the location was great as my tent was the first one facing the beach therefore access to it was amazing. The receptionist, Camila who checked me in was very helpful. The staff responsible for the rooms cleaned it daily and also the security at night guarding access from the beach.

United States of AmericaWe were in the son most of the daytime, so some cover (extended tent cloth or so) would have been nice. Also a little refrigerator would have been nice to keep our drinks and some yoghurt/veggies we normally eat as a snack, fresh.
We liked our tent a lot and the waterbassin to clean sandy feet before walking up to the tent was very nice. Bed was very good. We liked that it was quiet at 9:15-9:30 and no music heard anymore.

United States of AmericaThe only thing I would say would be that the food was quite expensive; I am a vegetarian, and even ordering simple items (quesadillas, for example) off the menu was still shocking. Each meal (with a couple of drinks) was over $100 USD for the two of us. There are not many options in the beach area for affordable eating, but you can't beat the location. The wifi was spotty but served its purpose when needed.
My partner and I had a wonderful and relaxing time at Ikal. The location can't be beat, and the community vibe was welcoming, comfortable, and very intentional. Anna was so helpful and fun to talk to - She offered us several suggestions on things to do, directions, and transportation and was genuinely so kind. Ikal was the perfect getaway with the best views and vibes. The space is beautiful and designed with care. We loved the live music and the gorgeous art pop up (Thank you Alejandro and @wild.child.tulum for the incredible overalls!) Tulum was far more expensive than we realized, but the location and people of Ikal makes it all worth it. We are so grateful for our time there and definitely will be back.

NetherlandsExtremely expensive restaurant: The glamping has only one option for food and this is its restaurant, luckily we had free breakfast everyday. The downside of being so segregated from the city is that this is your only option to eat unless you rent a bike, scooter, or taxi to go somewhere else. 3 shrimp tacos were more than 20 Euros, for example, and renting the before mentioned items is not less than 10 USD. Restaurant staff: Tips were pretty much obligated, even if they said it was optional. Some would mention it was optional and others would just give you the option to add it. We had at least breakfast and dinner there 6 days of the 8 we stayed, and even if breakfast was said to be free they would try to charge you at least 7 USD on tips. After being pushed to pay a considerable tip in our first breakfast we started refusing and just giving tip in our dinners. This then turned into some waiters ignoring us in the mornings. Even worse, to our surprise they charged the tips to our room and at the check out we had a bill for all the tips we said no to...
1. The property is beautiful, well located and it is not breaking the nice scenery with a big concrete all inclusive building like Cancun. 2. The food in the restaurant: Was very good. Thanks to Booking we had free breakfast every day and we couldn't believe how good and substantious it was. 3. They have many activities per day, like Yoga or ice baths, even cacao culture. They also have tours to diverse touristic locations like Cenotes, Ruins or National Parks. 4. The girls that gave us service as staff: Lucia, Ana, Natyeri, and Camila were super nice and sweet with us, always up for giving a great service and recommendations.

United States of AmericaI liked everything.
The property is right on the beach. You wake up and the sea is only a couple steps away. At the night you fall asleep to the roar of the sea. The restaurant played live soft music every day. They also have a yoga classes each day. I did Sadhana at 6:30 am and watched the sun go up. They also have activities for the kids and is a family friendly hotel.

GermanyNothing really. One thing that you may be prepared for is the cost. The place isn't cheap. But in my opinion, most was worth the money you spend if you stay there for ceremonies or nice concerts or plays in the evenings. For me, this was one part of the price I paid for drinks and food.
We traveled in Mexico for 7 weeks and this was our favorite place. We would call it the pearl of Tulum, at least for us. It was a great place to get inner peace. It combined all different aspects of connecting to nature, doing yoga, enjoying the view of the blue sea and listening to the sound of the waves. I don't like to be to theatrics, but that was the one place where I really felt entirely relaxed. However, it may strongly depend on the way how you like to spend your vacations. If you are more of a resort / all-inclusive type of person, this place might not be what you are looking for. For us, this was a great experience, and I could spend more time telling you all the details of how great it was. But the only way for you will be to find out by yourself.
