Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelNo windows in the room nor clear ventilation, shower steam fills the room which then solidify on the windows and floor. Specifically when someone is in the toilets you cant escape the smell. Lock didn't work , also had no hot water for some time but staff took care of it asap. Cool staff , very lovely and willing to help you out.
Nice rooms. Beautiful panoramic view.

Slovakialocation - it was near beach club which is very loud during the night not good for comfort. although bathroom was great, bed is very small and u just don’t have comfort of norma hotel, so i would say that this room (bamboo) is really just for one night, max two. breakfast are not included, no beach for the property ( so you have to go through nearby hotel to public area) very overpriced. very important - only in Bamboo - ladder to bed ! i mean it is also quite fun during the day, but in night i was worried to go to toilet :D so not for people who are afraid of heights. view - nothing extra, down was march-land.
we had bamboo house. it is very unique experience. it had everything, good bathroom, also beautiful bath which gives luxurious feeling. stylish. very friendly and nice staff explaining everything. there was a nest of little bear (something like racoon), so cute :)

MexicoA phone or What's App group would help for overnight needs – re: the car alarm that went off all night long. It would be great to have beach access with no consumption rate wrapped into the cost of the room, just to make that beach access an even smoother experience. (Though Mamasan reception did tell me there would be a consumption fee if I used a lounger, I somehow didn't have to pay it. I think that was due to lack of service/attention at the beach)
Mamasan is located in the heart of the Hotel Zone, which is fine – if you want access to clubs and big restaurants. I did want the restaurants and the beach – I'm not into the club scene on my solo trips. What I wanted was the peace and quiet of a treehouse, and that's what I got – mostly. The exception was a car alarm that went off almost the entire night. It was mostly drowned out by the sound of thumping music from the resto/club across the street but still – when you pay over $300 for a room in a treehouse you expect solitude. Had there been a phone in the room, or a What's App group I could have messaged, I am sure that security would have done something about it. Unfortunately, neither exist (and I didn't think to ask when I checked in) On the other side of the road from the beach, the staff at Mamasan walked me across to access the beach from another hotel. They have an arrangement that would permit access but with the standard consumption rates to pay for the use of a beach chair. Lucky for me, I somehow avoided the fee and had a wonderful time on the beach! The bathtub with a view of the treetops was absolutely magical!! And you are, essentially, sleeping under the stars. So remember that when you book! There are no blinds on geo-domes ;) The staff at Mamasan were some of the nicest people I've met. All with great conversation skills, happy dispositions, a real love of their work, and lots of incredible recommendations. Truly enjoyed my time!

United KingdomAs it is so well located in the heart of the beach road of Tulum, it can be a little noises at night. Our room was right at the back so it didn’t bother us so much.
beautiful room (we were in D7!) with spectacular sunset views over the jungle! the property was well kept and had a sweet cafe and rooftop bar attached which served lovely coffees, snacks and margaritas!

United KingdomNothing at all, however a small suggestion would be to put a little guide in the room to explain how to get rid of condensation on the glass. Unfortunately our windows were steamy on the outside at night time so we wouldn’t see the moon or stars. Still really enjoyed the stay and the steam was gone when the sun came up x
We loved everything about the property including the location. The staff were SO friendly and made us feel really welcome. We will be recommending the tree house to our friends and family.

United KingdomA few things worth noting is you don't have any outside space in the superior suites. I think this is by design but it was unfortunate to not have a balcony to have a drink at. The privacy is a bit of an issue, we could literally see the people in the room to our right and there was no way for either room to put curtains. The other big issue, but this seems to be a Tulum issue is the hotel creates it's own exchange rate if you want to pay your restaurant bill in cash. For example we had dinner at the hotel and the bill came to the Pesos equivalent of $93 dollars. To pay dollars the hotel wanted to charge $107 for the bill. For hotel guests especially this seemed like an outrageous extra charge for paying dollars. I ended up paying by card. Also be careful if you book and expect to get breakfast for $10. The booking process you follow says pay $10 for breakfast at the hotel. They informed us when we got there that apparently we hadn't selected that option (even though there is only 1 option when you book). For some strange reason they then refused to allow us to pay $10 for the breakfast so we ended up going elsewhere. Strange business decision if you ask me but a lot of odd things like this take place in Tulum. My advice would be to bring lots of pesos cash and card and refuse to be bullied into their "hotel exchange rates"
We stayed in one of the superior suites. The room was very beautiful and a unique experience to be up in the trees. The bath and decor was a lovely place to spend the night. The location is very good, there are plenty of beach clubs nearby. To be honest we could hear the club's but the noise didn't really bother us as we fell straight to sleep.

United KingdomThe positives of being close to the beach clubs has the negatives of lound music pleasing and clearly audible in your room until 2am. The room at the front at the worst for this but the ones further back were ok so try and get one of those rooms if you're an early/light sleeper.
It's located on the beach strip so easily walkable to all the beach clubs and restaurants. Avoid taxis at all cost, they will all rip you off for relatively short journeys along the strip.

The location of the treehouses were fantastic. They had a wonderful feeling to them with everything you needed inside each geopod. The staff at the reception desk were outstanding, so friendly, helpful and there when you needed them! The restaurant and rooftop bar are fab too, the cocktails were some of the best we had whilst in Tulum!
