The hotel is located in the historic center of Merida, and couldn’t be in a better location to explore. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and was cleaned well every morning (even when we accidentally brought lots of sand!). The breakfast is freshly cooked to order every morning and the owner, Tom, couldn’t be happier to share incredible recommendations for restaurants, cenotes, ruins, and anything you could want to do on the peninsula. The pool is warm and very clean and they have a small pool bar which we didnt get to experience (because we came during the lowest tourist season). We couldn’t recommend this place more highly!

It's so freaking hot in Merida I couldn't keep my beer cold.

Everything! Tom sets the tone with the generosity of his time visiting and talking about all things Yucatan. The hotel staff are equally welcoming and willing to answer questions or give information. Hotel Luz creates a "warm", embracing and joy filled experience.

Our stay at Hotel Luz en Yucatán in Merida was absolutely delightful. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city, providing easy access to the vibrant streets, charming plazas, and rich cultural heritage that Merida has to offer. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality. The hotel's décor is a perfect blend of traditional Mexican charm and modern comfort, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. The backyard patio with its refreshing pool, was a serene oasis where we could relax and unwind after a day of exploring. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable, offering excellent advice on sights and activities. The breakfast was truly delicious, and the fantastic staff ensured we had everything we needed. Merida itself is a city full of life and color, with a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene. We loved wandering through its streets, visiting local markets, and enjoying the delicious cuisine at the many nearby restaurants.Despite having a bit too much rain thanks to Cyclone Alberto, we still had a wonderful time. Hotel Luz en Yucatán provided the perfect base for our adventures in Merida, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an extraordinary and unforgettable stay in this enchanting city.

Nothing not to like about our stay at Luz.

Great location near or not far from everything. We had a room with terrace next to the pool which was nice. We appreciated the inclusive private parking area around the corner, as parking in the area can be challenging due to ongoing public works[rest assured, all is quiet at night]. Staff and owners are very responsive and pleasant deal with.

*needs hand rail at pool steps, steps going up to room and in showers. *we were not aware that we would be assigned a room on the third floor. The stairs in the extreme heat made us not want to come and go as much as we would have liked. More consideration for elderly guests’ needs. *young man working in pool bar plays annoyingly loud video games while guests are lounging in pool area. Some background music in pool area would be more guest friendly.

The room ( Flor de Maya) was wonderful: located on the ground floor having two big beds, separate patio near the pool, fridge. The host and staff were very helpful, and the hotel location was perfect. Breakfast was the best during our three week journey in Mexico. Very nice place for visiting Merida.

The hotel is in the hart of every thing.That is good.There is a lot of construction going on neer by witch made it hard to get to the hotel.This is not the hotels falt but I would recommend a taxi.

The hotel is very special.The rooms are very large.The property is maintained very well.The hotel it self is different in that the furniture is old and in fantastic shape.There was a fountain in the center and the interior is very colorful and in fantastic shape.

Location was excellent and staff were very helpful and approachable and did what they could to make my short stay a memorable one. The shower is phenomenal !!! And drinks by the pool a lovely touch. They have great ideas for a day trip outside of the city.

Noise. Sound carries in those beautiful high ceilings. First two days were quiet. Unfortunately, a large party of 15 or so in 3-4 rooms checked in. They had no regard for how loud they were right outside our window and at the pool. I would suggest owners include in the information packet a reminder that sound really carries in the hallways and pool area.

The architecture is amazing 12-16 ft ceilings. Gardens are lovely. Pool and bar made for great late afternoon cooling off. Staff were really helpful. Breakfast was great. Great information packet

First impression hotel and area around it looked a little tired. But quickly realized that added to the charm as real authentic. Room and terrace were very comfortable.

Great location for exploring restaurants on Calle 47 and sights around Plaza Grande. Serves large breakfast. Used pool area in mid-afternoon to swim and read when it was very hot outside. Friendly staff.
