Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt's a shame that the hotel doesn't do breakfast. It has the standing and space and size to be able to offer this. If you want to leave relatively early for the train then you have to buy stuff in from the supermarket but there is no fridge to keep things in and no coffee maker in the room. I am getting a tad annoyed about the tip envelopes in Mexico hotel rooms especially when you are only staying one night - what special service warranting a tip do you get? Also clearly had not checked that everything worked in the room - ceiling fan, hairdryer - not an issue for us but certainly not too worthy!
Excellent building, really interesting. Room was big and very nicely decorated. Two minutes walk from the main square. The room was well equipped.

CanadaI could feel some springs on the bed but it was not a big problem.
This is a beautiful hotel. The colours, the decor, the style, it was really nice to come back to. It is a little older but had everything I needed and was great for the price.

United KingdomBy modern standards, the facilities are lacking - e.g. no kettle, coffee maker and wifi does not got to the rooms. (However, for some unfathomable reason, our room did have TV.) But the lack of these sorts of modern conveniences is in keeping with the overall style and shouldn't be taken too strongly. And a general comment about El Fuerte - charming and well worth a visit, but come armed with effective insect repellent - otherwise ubiquitous swarms of voracious midges will leave you with bites which are extremely itchy and take weeks to heal, even if not scratched.
The huge plus for this hotel is the charm, quiet, old fashioned ambience of this amazing building. With it's eclectic hacienda style, a visit is like stepping back in time. The form of the building, open courtyards with indigenous paintings, sculptures and other artefacts make it a highly rewarding place to stay.

United KingdomOur shower was on the chilly side but it was hot enough that we didn't mind.
Hotel El Fuerte is in the most amazing building, very comfy beds, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful (giving us advice on river tours, and organising our taxi to get to the El Chepe train station).

300-year-old beautiful colonial-style building with a central courtyard full of beautiful flowers and antique decorations. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about area and the exquisite building.

MexicoIf there's a noise somewhere near in the corridor, it's heard very loudly. The installations are not very new and not perfectly clean. The internet doesn't work in room's because the walls are so thick that the signal just doesn't get through.

FranceCaters to many groups which means it can get noisy. The shower was luke warm. The restaurant was closed so no food was available, no biggie though, as you could walk 10 minutes to the plethora of options in town. It would have been nice to explain that ordering a taxi to the train station would cost 200$ and not 60$ like on the way in. Because we shared it was cheaper, understand the logic and it wouldn't have changed the price, but it would have been nice to confirm with me first, instead of waiting for the taxi driver to bring it up.
Lovely hacienda hotel, 1 block away from the main square. The hotel staff was very professional and helpful. The room was huge and comfortable. The photos of the place are reliable.

AustraliaEverything was great.
This hotel is fabulous from the time you set foot in it. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are amazing, so quaint, colorful and comfortable. My favorite hotel in Mexico. It was nice to have as much filtered water as you like in the passage. The pool is pretty and clean. You cannot ask for a better location. Near the square, restaurants, church and museum.

CanadaThere was construction at the hotel so it was quite dusty. The outdoor Jacuzzi was dirty and water cold. We made the mistake of thinking Jacuzzi equaled hot tub. The rooms are a little dated. Old box TV’s with very poor quality. Our friends TV didn’t work at all. Restaurant was not open . They would do breakfast if pre ordered for 160 pesos. Lots of other options outside the hotel.
The hotel was very quaint with lots of original tile and Mexican decor. Very beautiful and interesting. Good location.
