Amazing view and area, but not comfortable.

Just one person working on everything in the evening, so not enough time to serve people in time. Gaps in our room (which is not good for hotel by itself cuz cold air is leaving the room and ac spending more electricity). Toilet didn’t work properly, giant spider spent night with us looking to us through the window, rust on our dom room. Beddings were with some stains and not very comfortable to skin. Shower curtain just fell off after we touched it. No lights were turned on at territory at night, so was little bit dangerous to walk around. (The lights existed but didn’t work)

Amazing view, like Maldives. Free kayaks, good breakfast and lunch, air conditioner worked well, lot of animals cats, dogs and piggy. Nice area with hammocks and chairs near the water.

Breakfast was absolutely terrible both mornings. 2 slices of burnt bread should be called breakfast. The dome looks like its been through a lot, full of patches, full of rust, cheap pillows, you could see through the sheets (change them already). The only good thing was the AC as it looked quite new and maintained the dome cold enough(even if it wasnt inverter so it started from time to time and you could hear the compressor). Everything looks old and like it needs some TLC.

The only good thing about this place is the lagoon. Beautiful part of the lagoon with shallow water and beautiful colors. Its big enough so you can find a private spot on the lagoon.

No hot watter, a lot of mosquitos, very basic rooms.

The location is just perfect!! 15 min drive from the city on the banks of the lake, a beautiful courtyard, quiet, calm and magic. The place is a camping place so the rooms are very basic.

Although the food is good, the problem rather is that the kitchen does not always have everything due to either lack of personnel or ingredients. I think for a place 20 min out of town and 300 pesos per taxi ride (one way) it would improve the stay immensely if the kitchen had a bigger selection and would work more smoothly. A small kiosk for snacks would maybe also be nice. And for folks that don’t come with their own car, offer a shuttle to town or make a deal with the taxi company for cheaper prices for guests. Right now, it dampens the chilled experience out there a bit when you either have to eat quesadillas 3 days in a row two times a day or spend 600 pesos each day extra to get sth else in town. This said, the place has promise I think and the nice vibe there made up for the quesadilla overload for us - and the other two days of our stay we did get the full menue options! Wi-fi is on-off and not available in every corner of the premises - so not good in case you want to work

It is a wonderful, tranquil place outside of Bacalar with a laid back vibe to it. The staff is really friendly and helpful. You can feel that there is love put in small details, like painted signs for everything. The food is good. There’s a yard with hammocks and wooden seating areas to chill. You can get canoes for free. Our room was basic - what we wanted - and clean and was being cleaned the second day. They installed a water dispenser for free water. During the day there is tea and coffee (instant).

Lack of mantenience, there was some gaps in the buildings that can be seal and prevent insects to enter the rooms.

Some details, the food could use less grease. I hope you take this email remarks of a way to improve the property. Feedback in order to improve. I will definitely be going here every summer camping with the kids!

Location was perfect, right on the lagoon. I think the beds could be more comfortable and a little more beautifying details in the guest bathrooms and things through-out the property. Especially the one that's a palapa with all the single beds. It could be cleaner around the lagoon. Garbage was left there for 2 days and not any staff cleaned it up or did a morning check around the place to make sure their guests are enjoying themselves and there is no garbage. The kids enjoyed immensely.. they laughed and ran and ate and played and kayaked and we all enjoyed and loved so much this place for the camping benefit of everything..

Just to be picky, internet connection was a bit off, but that's expected in a more remote area

Just that the owners invited to some kind of ancient/new age ceremony.

Situated by the beautiful Bacalar lake in the middle of nature. We didn’t move an inch from the area during our four days. You had everything you needed and great food.

    A summer camp-like experience :-)

Too many flies in the dining room, and you had to constantly swat them off of the food or away from your face to eat. The other drawback was that the beds were very short and the mosquito netting not large enough. We had to sleep in the separate beds and could only fit if we slept diagonally and having to push the mosquito net away from our heads and feet with pillows, blankets, and towels. It think this could be fixed easily by raising the height of the netting and pulling the sides out a little. But, the short beds, not sure what to suggest there. The mattresses were comfortable, though. It would have been nice to know in advance that the kitchen was closed for dinner, but that we could have used the facility to cook for ourselves. We could have prepared in advance to bring something with us because the road in is long and full of pot holes, so we didn't really want to go back out to Bacalar to eat.

Breakfast was simple, but very good. The hut was perfect, quiet, right on the water, very relaxing and again, very simple accommodation, but with everything you needed. The staff were friendly, relaxed, and the whole atmosphere felt like summer camp. I like that they had free kayaks and canoes to use and a little pier to swim off of. The room was also a very relaxing place to rest and read and set up with a hammock and chairs and tables outside to relax in.

    - the kitchen needs a big deep clean and new fly screens without big holes - just be aware there are long drop toilets right next to dorm but if you want a toilet with lights & flushing, it’s quite a walk at night down and up a hill - dorm is beautiful and breezy but it means you can’t keep the dust out, so the beds were a bit dirty (also note that many of the mosquito nets have holes, although they were great and provided a new one when requested) - the wifi barely works in most places, although they mentioned strong connection in a building up a hill, but we didn’t try it out

    - the lagoon frontage and communal waterfront spaces were absolutely gorgeous (like seriously beautiful - we spent most of our time in and out of the water and under one of the shelters, which also had a power point) - the free canoes and kayaks that you can take at any time was just amazing - free breakfast was delicious, and they let you use the kitchen to cook your own food after the restaurant closes at 4pm (there is a fridge to store your food/drink) - it was also wonderful waking up to the sound of wild birds instead of traffic or roosters - the place is run very environmentally sustainably - we stayed in a dorm, but there are lots of different types of privates such as cabanas or tents

Restaurant closes at 5 pm, no dinner! (You can buy ingredients from them to cook and use the kitchen or do groceries before coming) It is more a place for couples, a bit lonely if you are on your own. Only one toilet? And its a bit far away from where was my dormcabaña.

Awesome location!! You can use the kayaks free of charge!! Gorgeous sunrise!! Amazing breakfast!!

Mosquitoes, mosquitoes everywhere. When we arrived, as soon as we got out of our car, we were attacked! Beware, they really come in masses ! (if you wear clothes and good repellent its ok) We had to run to our room each time xD. Because of that, we couldn't enjoy outside view a lot, only if we go into water directly. Also, the road to come to the cayuco hotel is very bumpy, you take 10 min to do 2km because of this. But you get used to that at a certain point! Lastly, beware of the little insects, don't let your luggages open at night.

We took the bubble style room with view outside. It was a very interesting experience, we could hear all noises from the jungle at night. air conditioning is a must as it becomes so hot in daytime (and also at night). Also, the hamac on the lagoon is a cool add-on! And kayak if free, just ask and they will give you one.
