Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoThe mixed dorm cabin was tiny... not much room to move around/put your belongings.
The location was amazing, on the river in the jungle and within walking distance from the ruins. The pool was lovely and the food was good in the restaurant.

GermanyIt was a bit odd that you could book a double bed with two people in a room with other double beds. Luckily we were the only ones in the room sharing the bed, otherwise it kind of would have had a bit of a swinger club feeling... and the room actually was connected to another room with three beds. So overall a lil strange set up. Yet, okay for one night.
Very nice place. Beautiful garden, good hammocks to chill in. Deck to do yoga on in the morning.

NetherlandsKin Balam has a very commendable policy of quietness after 10pm. Unfortunately, this is made utterly useless by the very loud live music (and fireworks) coming from the hotel complex across the street. At least, that's what we experienced during our weekend stay (Saturday and Sunday night). So, nothing bad to say about Kin Balam, but this was a bit of a bummer.
Absolutely loved the jungle setting and the fact that it's not too polished. We saw frogs, iguana and agoutis on the hotel grounds. And, of course, it's fantastically close to the entrance of the Palenque ruins.

AustraliaPlumbing is definitely a problem as I caught a few bad whiffs around the place, but not in my room at least. The shower under the room leaked water all over the floor and there was nowhere to hang anything, so I ended up with soaking wet clothes after my first shower attempt. It’s also pretty greedy to charge guests 100 pesos just to stay on the hotel premises after checkout.
Great location, staff were all very friendly (to me at least!) despite many google reviews saying otherwise. I think I was in one of the newer dorms featuring essentially 6 double beds split between two rooms. It was super comfortable, cool and spacious. The grounds were also stunning, pool area nice and the sounds of nature at night pretty awesome.

United KingdomThere is a charge after check out and the lockers provided have no lock so bring your own. The washing machine facilities were extremely expensive so make sure you have clean clothes prior.
Right in the jungle, pool, spa and restaurant. Not much more of a pull to the place except for the ruins and waterfalls. Two days at the property it’s self was enough.

Relaxing Nature Environment, Comfortable beds, the Swimming pool. The staff were super helpful and there is the opportunity to book tours from close by. The ticket office for the ruins is about 15mins on a nice walk away. It's also on the collective route to the ruins.

SpainRomeo is the guy you find before the reception and he is so kind, nice and ready to give you all the information about the tours or about the city and the transport, for everything you need! Very friendly and adorable! Cesare was the driver that drive us to Misol Ha and Agua Azul and him as well was really nice with us like a security guard, taking care of us and driving very well, always in perfect timing. With him you feel safe and don't lose time of your precious vacation. They help us a lot in our trip. The best people we meet. Thank you!!

Australiathe dorm room was so tiny. 2 bunks & barely any room for luggage. the ladder goes all the way from the floor to the top of the bunk so you have to weirdly swing into the top bunk. i asked to move to a bottom bunk when no one else was staying in my room & was told no, no one else stayed in there. the damn rocks for the paths.
the location was great, out of town. across the road is a great restaurant. the restaurant was great & the staff were amazing with my lack of Spanish. the pool was great. the howler monkeys in the afternoons & toucans

SwitzerlandThey could do more out of the place. For example some more covered humocks or confy seats in the restaurant/bar area would be nice, especially for rainy days. I guess people would hang out more there, if it had a cozy bar...

BelgiumThe additional cost for the extended service is a bit much.
The location is the best feature. Surrounded by the jungle you feel you're part of nature, which is a nice feeling. Added bonus is the fact that El Panchan is just across the street and the Temples are only a 20 minute walk away. The personnel is very friendly and accommodating. The singing bartender puts a smile on your face. Food in the restaurant was ok, nothing more. The private cabanas were rather small but comfortable. You have everything you need.. The bathroom area was not the freshest... The dipping pool is a nice feature to cool down from the humid jungle heat.
