Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo suggestions this time - everything was great
Second time in Mauritius and at Shandrani (came here in 2022) and did not disappoint. Again, had an excellent family holiday. A few things have changed for better - water filling stations everywhere available now and the gym has had new equipment (maybe other things have also changed but didn't notice). As before, food was excellent with good variety/selection (though if you're vegan - you might find it a bit limiting). Would strongly recommend trying some of their speciality restaurants. However, don't opt for typical European cuisine as we've found that they're not as good. Staff were very polite and accommodating. Maybe we will come back for a 3rd time...🤔

South AfricaThe breakfast was very average and needs to be upgraded. The buffet restaurant is poor, the breakfast and dinner we had there was bad. The food needs to be prepared on demand and not pre-made to be kept warm in dishes. The waiter staff at the buffet breakfast did not have effective training. One lady serving us kept standing next to the table looking over us giving us no privacy. She brought the almond milk in a tea cup, no milk jug. Coffee from the machine is dreadful, luke watm and bad taste. They need to do freshly made coffee pots, cappuccino and late’s. Tea should be served in a tea pot not a mug with a tea bag! Don’t serve chocolate sauce but rather the real Nutella with pancakes and waffles which should be prepared fresh and not hours before and stacked on a tray! Serve cups of fresh yogurt not open dishes with yogurt in where everyone scoops out for themselves which is very unhygienic. Peel the kiwi, oranges and grapefruit as other hotels do. It’s difficult and messy to eat pieces of grapefruit still attacked to the peel. Cut it in slices which are easy to dish up and consume. Honestly, the breakfast at the buffet restaurant was disappointing.

AustraliaConfusing arrangements regarding dinner reservations and what was included and what wasn't - staff member spent 20 minutes rapidly explaining how the evening meal process worked in the different restaurants, in the end an unfathomable and complex system. We never managed to get a reservation despite appearing at the appropriate desk way before the cut off time. The most unpleasant aspect, which is not the hotel's fault, was the ravenous and glutenous assaults by tour groups on the buffet, leaving it looking like a war zone.
The beach location is superb, had a quiet room overlooking the sea, enjoyed the relaxed and spacious layout of resort, beautifully maintained buildings and gardens, extremely comfortable room and bed. A really top location in Mauritius.

United KingdomAlthough some might be concerned about the resort being at the end of the runway the planes did not disturb us as the last one was was before 11.00 pm.
For us it was conveniently near the airport. The room was a very good size with a raised veranda. The bed was very comfortable. The food in the restaurants was very nice with a lot of choice. The water sports and activities were excellent. The glass bottom boat trip was very informative and we saw a good range of corals, fish and a turtle. We borrowed a Hobie cat which was in very good sailing condition and had a really nice sail. We also did the snorkeling trip and saw a lot of fish. As our flight was late at night we were able to use the day lounge after we checked out which extended our stay. Although we had to pay for our last evening meal as an extra it was discounted and hence very good value.

United StatesDifficult to find faults with such a well-run place. A few areas could use some improvement, making the excellent even better. The water activities were open 9-4, but in practice some could not take place until noon or later, depending on the tides. It might be good (for the guests, but more challenging for the staff) to shift the hours to allow access when the tides are high, rather than on a rigid schedule, further reduced by the tides. We have stayed at properties where all the staff are smiling and greeting guests, and where all the staff seem to enjoy their jobs. A good number of them are smiling and friendly here (particularly in customer-facing positions), but some were not. It is so nice when all the staff feel appreciated, whether they work in landscaping, janitorial jobs, or at the front desks.
Beautiful property on even more beautiful Blue Bay. All the units are waterfront, some with a better view than others. Ours was almost top floor, overlooking the Blue Bay and the sunrise. There was a small "private" beach at our backdoor (open to all, but easily accessible for us). Nice sized room, with a king-size bed and a sofa for our daughter. Outstanding food choices for the breakfast buffet and for the dinner buffet (with a theme that was changing nightly). We did not get to try the food at any of the à la carte restaurants, but admired the decor. Part of the challenge was in remembering to make reservations at the other restaurants and finding space at a convenient time -- while the buffet was readily available for us. In particular, on the day of arrival we were told we were not already in the system and could not make restaurant reservations at all. Later on, reservations were to be made only in person, which required a trip to the concierge desk. Online reservations would be so much more user-friendly. Great set of activities included, with even more available for additional charges. We enjoyed the snorkeling trips, the glass bottom boat, the sailing and windsurfing lessons. Our daughter was reluctant to try the Teen Club, but finally gave it a try the very last day and loved it.

United KingdomThe bar food could have had some healthier options for lunch other than fried chicken and fish fingers and chips. A fresh salad would have gone down a treat.
What wasn't to like? Great activities included like glass bottom boat and snorkelling tour yo Blue Bay Marine park included in 1/2 board price, as was water skiing. Breakfast and dinner had extensive choice and were delicious, catering for all my families dufferent needs Great value for money.

NetherlandsAlthough there’s plenty of restaurants that offer a good variety of food, we had expected slightly better quality food. Also, two out of four restaurants are booked so far in advance that you have a small chance of going there. We could not book during our entire stay. As for booking, the same goes for activities. You have to queue long before the counter opens to have a spot.
We’ve been around the island and Shandrani is, according to us, by far in the best location! Its variety of own (3!) pristine beaches as well as proximity to public nice beaches, its beautiful views all around both above and under water with snorkeling right from the beach, the crystal clear shallow lagoon, its proximity to the airport as well as many of the main sights of the island all make this the ideal location. All rooms come with great views, are just steps from the beach, are spacious and very clean and comfortable. Although it’s a big hotel it’s set up and stretched in such a way that it never feels big or crowded and you will find yourself wondering through the lush landscaping without coming across many people. The facilities are endless, all included (even is you don’t book all inclusive) and offer fun for young and old, everything from snorkeling trips to paddleboards, or waterskiing and entertainment in the hotel or sports varying from a gym, tabletennis, tennis, golf etc.

AustraliaAt check-in the emphasis on the fact that we were 'only' on half-board (and the implications) was somewhat over-the-top.
The view from our room was fantastic, but it's handy to be aware that there are no lifts/elevators, which meant we had a lot of steps to climb. The selection of beaches and activities was excellent.

AustraliaIn Ponte Vecchio and main buffet restaurant food was average at times. Very difficult to get into Teak Elephant and despite a 10 night stay I was told I could only book for that restaurant once and bookings have to be made a few days in advance which was disappointing. Nowhere to walk to outside the resort and taxis are very expensive.
Beautiful beaches and pool area. Housekeeping staff were amazing. Le Serius, and Teak Elephant restaurants were amazing and the food was delicious with staff being very attentive. Views from the rooms are amazing too and beds very comfortable.

RomaniaWe booked the honeymooners only offer which is available on booking, presumably added by the hotel themselves. However, upon arrival we were told that we will not be benefitting from the offer as this is for people booking via third party agency only. We showed the receptionist the automatic message we received from the hotel asking for the wedding certificate to be available upon arrival (which we did have) and eventually they did agree to give us our free experience for honeymooners. However this was a bad start for our trip and we did not get the sparkling wine bottle within the offer. All inclusive is until 11pm only which is unusual
We enjoyed all the beaches and facilities of the hotel. We particularly liked the golf initiation and the glass bottom boat tour.
