Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWould have liked a shower as well as a bath in the bathroom. Would have liked muesli for breakfast rather than bread and cakes but they very kindly gave us fruit when we asked for this. Nothing too much trouble - just ask for something if it is not there! Abdoul so willing to do anything. A really enjoyable stay!
they kindly allowed us to park right outside which was not an advertised facility. Also served us breakfast earlier than the normal time to allow us to leave in time to catch a flight.

United StatesHonestly, nothing. We would highly recommend the riad to anyone visiting Fes.
This riad is absolutely beautiful (true for both common areas and the room we were given). In addition to being architecturally-stunning, the staff (Abdul in particular!) really went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable. In particular, we sincerely appreciate the help arranging a fairly-priced and timely taxi to the bus station upon departure.

United StatesWe loved everything!
Everything about the property was amazing! We stayed for three nights but could’ve easily stayed so much longer though, because no one wanted to leave— that’s how beautiful it was. It was our favorite stay in our 2+ week trip through Morocco. The propery itself is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful details in every corner. The traditional Moroccan style with unbelievable tile work, carvings and open air courtyard, is second-to-none. It’s the perfect mix of upscale elegance and home away from home comfort. The rooms were incredibly spacious, impeccably clean, and super comfortable. The water pressure was amazing and the shower was hot! We also had excellent Wi-Fi, which was important to us as we did need to do some remote work while we were there. Also, the breakfasts were always plentiful and delicious. And the service was the best we had in Morocco! Abdoul was awesome! Pre-arrival, his correspondence was excellent and we were very grateful for all of his directions. He greeted us outside the riad when we arrived, and took excellent care of us the entire time! He was always incredibly helpful and kind and gave us the best recommendations! — Restaurant Ishq is a must! Thank you so much to Abdoul and the rest of the staff for the most wonderful stay! We loved our stay!! Highly recommend! We would not stay anywhere else in Fes.

BelgiumWe absolutely loved our stay at the beautiful and authentic Riad Semlalia! Our room was really nice and it was so quiet, we slept like roses. The staff (we love you Abdoul) was very friendly, the swimming pool was clean and refreshing and the breakfast and lunches were excellent. Riad Semlalia is a very peaceful place to take a break after a visit to the busy medina. Thank you for everything!

I stayed here with my sister and we absolutely loved it! The friendliness of the staff was exceptional, we were so well looked after! The food was incredible, the best in Fes and we loved the music and dining area. The pool was lovely to relax and get away from The busy medina. The Riad also Organised all our trips to chefcheaouen and the medina tour! Will definitely return here!

TurkeyIf I had to force myself to find something…I would say the A/C was not very powerful. I am sure something about it would have been done, had I reported it. But it was not a big deal for us and I did not bother.
First and foremost, Abdou, the receptionist (but more than just that!) was absolutely fantastic. No request was too much (airport transfers, guides, late breakfast, etc.). From the very first interaction over whatsapp till the very early morning departure 3 days later, he was very accommodating and accurate with his information. He delivered everything he promised, in full and on time. He made the stay extra enjoyable. The riad is beautiful. Like in most places in Fez, very nicely restored (tiles, woodwork, plaster, marble - all show great artisanship). Our room (Warda) was decent size and so was its bathroom. Overlooking the garden of the school next door. We did not use the rooftop pool but one afternoon enjoyed the terrace. The breakfast was good (and on our way out when we had a very early flight, Abdou was nice enough to prepare a take-away bag). The location was also convenient. Close to the medina but not in the hustle bustle of it all.

AustraliaNothing- we would highly recommend this place and cannot wait to come back to stay again.
Our entire stay was amazing from start to finish. Firstly, Abdoul was the perfect host- he was warm, welcoming and always answered our questions with a big smile. Nothing was too difficult for him. We were given mint tea, biscuits and cold water on arrival, and then were taken for a tour of the riad as well as offered a room upgrade free of charge which we didn't take, although it was very appreciated. Our room was spacious, had good aircon and bar fridge to keep our drinks cold. We cannot reiterate enough how much we loved the rooftop pool!! It was awesome and helped us cool down during the hottest part of the day. On two occasions we were brought fresh mint lemonade (free of charge). We also ordered wine to enjoy by the rooftop pool and were also given a platter of olives, crackers and cucumbers. We did have dinner one night which was delicious and the serving sizes were huge. We got a nougat glace for dessert which was 'dessert of the day' and that was a standout. The checkout process was smooth, although please note that they prefer to take cash rather than card.

NetherlandsAbsolutely nothing. Everything was perfect 🤩
Everything is a 10 out of 10. The location close to the medina, yet quiet and relaxed, the beauty of the riad, everything is so special, the room and bathroom, spacious, clean and beautifull decorated with the mosaic, the rooftop pool, breakfast and diner (highly recommend) and last but not least: the staff. Thank you Abdoul for making us feel at home. We enjoyed every second! You can park your car down the road in the garage for 50DH per night. It is safe! Also Fez is great! We walked through the medina by ourselves. When you have a good map or planned route, it should be doable. Otherwise you can get a guide!

FranceThe Riad is a little outside the main medina area, in a nice quiet area. Having the swimming pool on the roof is a lovely break from the busy medina. It's nicely decorated with lots of painted wood. The food we had was delicious, but on the expensive side compared to what you can find in most restaurants. However breakfast was included, and was excellent - a lovely choice of different Moroccan breads and spreads with fruit salad. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

AustriaWe spent very nice days in Fes and in the Riad Semlalia. The rooms are well furnished - the whole house is very nice. The roof terrace with pool is particularly nice. The location is ideal for visiting the city. The riad is almost a bit too big for my taste, I would perhaps look for something smaller next time. But we really had nothing to complain about. The team on site was also very nice.
