Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe interior of the building is a bit worn down, but it’s not a big deal.
We loved the apartment, nicely decorated, clean and well equipped. Good options around the corner for breakfast. Also, within walking distance from the city center, and the walk was highly enjoyable every time.

LatviaAlthough not a big inconvenience, the check-out felt a little bit rushed, as the host contacted us already at 8AM asking at what time exactly will we check out.
The apartment has a great location - it takes only few minutes to reach the public transport stop or you can have a longer walk and reach the main locations in the center of Riga by foot. In the apartment everything was really clean and comfortable for 4 people. Although we did not use the sauna, it was a nice addition.

IrelandI would recommend to change pillows and duvets for more comfortable ones and additionally, would be nice to have a double duvet for double bed instead of two single duvets.
Nice area, everything necessary for your stay is there ie. Iron desk, iron, washing machine, dryer etc.

AustraliaFabulous apartment. It’s a large and newly renovated apartment. Very, very clean. Also very quiet. Great wifi. It is up 3 flights of stairs but they are easy to climb. The rooms are all very large and spacious and arr decorated to feel like home. Like paintings on the walls, cushions etc The kitchen is very well equipped and has a large kitchen table, great fridge and freezer too. The lounge is lovely and comfortable and lots of natural light. All the rooms are very light as lots of windows. The bedroom is large with a large bed. There is heating throughout but we only used an electric heater in the bedroom at night. Very comfortable bed. There is a washing machine, iron and ironing board as well as washing rack. The bathroom is large with a bath. Shower and sauna as well as heated towel rail and dryer. Lots of hot water too and great shower. There are buses and trams that run very close by into the city centre and you can use a 24 or longer pass. Lots of wonderful restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. There is nothing we didn’t like about staying here or in hhe area.

United KingdomApartment is on the 3rd floor, the stairs leading to the apartment are a bit damp & grotty but when you open the door to the apartment wow!!! Big rooms, high ceilings, chandeliers & big windows, lovely decorated. Every day I looked forward to returning after a day exploring the city. The sauna was the cherry on the cake...perfect!!! Can't wait to come back.

United KingdomThe apartment was comfortable but a couple of decent pillows would be a nice addition. The apartment block entrance and stair well could do with a little decorating, probably not of the owners control and would not put us off from staying again.
Very clean spacious apartment with everything provided. Nice traditional decor with a slight modern touch where required. Excellent communication with restaurant recommendations. Great location, was good for what we needed and to use for a base to explore.

United KingdomThe apartment was beautiful, an excellent place to start our day and go back to on an evening. It was just perfect. The sauna was a real bonus. The host spoke very good English and was prompt and helpful answering any queries we had. We loved Riga the Art Nouveau area & the Old Town. Lots of interesting places to see and visit. We made good use of the buses and trams, a three day pass can be purchased for just 8 Euros. The passes (for varying lengths of time) can be purchased at Narvesen Newsagents/Convenience shops around the city, at the airport and railway station. A bus map can be obtained at Tourist Information Offices (don't remember seeing any at the Narvesen shop). The pass can be used to travel out to the Zoo, Open Air Museum and Airport which are further out of the city. You could walk into the city centre from our apartment which we did initially, but hopping on a bus proved too tempting. The Zoo and Open air museum are set in forests making them beautiful places to walk round as well as seeing the exhibits, entrance prices are very, very reasonable, in fact because we are 70 the entrance to the zoo was free! On our last day our flight being scheduled late in the evening we took our cases to the railway station and used a locker there to store our cases (I think it was 5 euros for 24 hours). The bus stop for the No. 22 bus that takes you to the airport is just a short walk away. We had a 7 night stay in Riga and found that to be the perfect length of time.

United KingdomThe entrance to the apartment block is very tired - but instantly transformed once you go through the front door of the apartment to an absolutely luxurious interior.
The apartment was immaculate and all the facilities you could need - including a private sauna within the apartment if you wanted at the end of the day.
