That I couldn’t stay for more days

Amazing location on top of a river. Beautiful houses secluded and one with the nature. Extremely friendly and helpful family that will welcome you and make you feel at ease as they will take care of everything you need. Very good homemade fresh breakfast and the cutest family you will meet in Sri Lanka.

It goes without saying as you are in the rainforest, but expect to share your room with some interesting bugs - I fell asleep to the twinkling fireflies! The waterfall sound is also quite loud so earplugs are useful if that may bother you.

We had such a wonderful experience at The Rainforest Hideaway! We spent two nights there and enjoyed a night tour and day tour, seeing many incredible creatures including lizards, snakes, birds, monkeys, butterflies and my favourite - lorises! Our guides were fun and knowledgeable and everything was provided - head torch, leech socks, snacks, lunch, water, and waterproofs if needed. Our whole stay was very well organised from the pick ups/drop offs in the thrilling jeep, to the delicious food, quick communication (WhatsApp), onward taxi arrangement, and card machine to settle our bill. The location is also truly stunning - three wooden cabins set right next to an epic waterfall which we dipped in after our day tour.

Spend two nights in this property, and can’t stop saying how fantastic it was. The location is stunning literally you will be in the nature. The staff have been incredible (helpful, polite, going the extra mile). The food made was delicious (we had breakfast and dinner), bursting in flavour and colours. The excursions organised were also perfect. This place is definitely a 10/10

Bathrooms need improvement. The water pressure is too low and can't shower. and the heater needs fixing.

The location is amazing. The owner and his wife who manage the property are very professional, kind and courteous. They arranged a trekking trip for us into Sinharaja with an experienced guide who was a nice gentleman. The Owner's wife is a great chef and the food was delicious. They kept my family very safe throughout our stay which was amazing. I travelled with my wife and 3 kids 9, 7, and 3. We were a bit worried about the location in the beginning due to being a remote location. However, the Owner's family staying beside our tent throughout made it very safe and gave us much peace. I 100% recommend this place.

The owners are a lovely family, they took care of two tours in the Sinharja forest one is the night tour, that is unforgettable! And the long day tour a day after, super recommend, one of the highlights of Sri Lanka! Also the food was great, and the service was tip top!

    Nothing

Absolutely stunning location. The owners picked us up in their 4x4 to take us the the remote property. We bathed in the river and had the best sri lankan meal we had in a whole week of being here, such a fantastic cook. The room was so clean and considering in the middle of the rainforest, free of bugs. The noise from the river was a soothing white noise at bedtime and the restaurant also served beer to help the slumber! Talik the owner also took us to our next destination in his 4x4 through the rainforest, showing us waterfalls along the way. It was all truly stunning and memorable and we felt very well looked after.

Located right next to the river. Absolutely beautiful. It is run by a friendly local family, and they did provide fantastic service that did exceed our expectations. The food was excellent, and we got traditional Sri Lankan tastes that we were looking for. We would have stayed a few more days if our schedule allowed.

I wish there was some hot water. But keep that aside. I still recommend the space to everyone!

We loved the location and the fact that we could see the river gushing right outside our rooms. The fact that we were located right in the centre of this beautiful rainforest. The family that runs the space is extremely warm, kind, friendly and made us feel like family. Great organization. Very prompt.

If anything, I would say reduce the restaurant options and focus on specific cuisines. They did a fabulous Sri Lankan breakfast and I feel all their restaurant options should play to their strengths in local foods.

Deniyaya is an interesting city to choose to stay in, but staying at a place like the Rainforest Hideaway makes it 10x better. The town itself isn't anything much, it's got the appeal of most beautiful mountain locations in Sri Lanka, with its quaint little shops and friendly people. I was very scared when I booked the hotel that it wouldn't live up to the pictures, but I was nothing but impressed. For the price, you get an amazing experience - from the car ride up, to the sound of the waterfall through the day. I love the hosts, they were friendly, honest and made our stay easy.

    Nothing to note!

Staff were so friendly and accommodating Location was perfect, next to a waterfall. Yes it’s going to be noisy but when travelling around Sri Lanka, ear plugs should be essential. The host organised jungle treks which were amazing. The room itself was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great. It was lovely to have menus for lunch/dinner and drinks to order from. I will definitely be re-visiting and staying here!

The following were not an issue for us but one should consider this before booking: - the location is in the wilderness meaning you must be ready for what comes with it - may be some mosquitos, loud birds and high humidity of a rainforest. - the river is loud, especially after heavy rain - it's a rainforest so the thunderstorm is always an option - this means the rain rumbling is loud at night - power outages happen We loved every second of our stay though!

Family run pension - the hosts are very friendly and helpful. Amazing location! This is a proper hideaway - the bungalows are located away from any road (the hosts would pick you up with their 4x4 from the village but you'll have to follow the narrow pathway also to reach a beautiful river cascade at the doorstep of your tiny house. Perfect place to watch nature (eagles, kingfishers, peacocks, magpies, barking deer). The family provides really good, home cooked meals, fresh juices and desserts. Treks and activities are also available. Highly recommended for anyone craving an adventure and to connect with nature. Thank you for everything!

They have a menu with a variety of food options (which is great), the quality of the food could improve a little. And it would be nice if they would ask if we prefer Sri Lankan or Western style breakfast (not all foreigners want Western style ;-))

Really beautiful location, right next to the river. The villa was comfortable and clean. We arranged a tour to Sinharaja with them (14usd/person) and the tour guide was amazing and spoke English well. The host was very friendly.

This was one of our highlights on our trip in Sri Lanka! The hideaway is beautiful and totally new! The big room is comfortable and very clean, located right next to a nice river. one can hear the sound of the river and birds/ animals in the night (great jungle feeling!) the host was soooo incredibly nice and welcoming and helped us out with our problems. Breakfast is delicious and in the morning you have a great view into the nature. This really was one of our best stays during our roundtrip and I would definitely stay here again! They also offer tours with a great tour guide into the Jungle (highly recommend!!)

Amenities aren't as they're described on the booking page. It said something about a shared kitchen, a fitness center, Spa and wellness center, access for people with disabilities and WiFi. It feels like they just selected every option possible to sound appealing and when we asked the manager about it on the phone he wasn't very understanding. The place is very, very lovely. But there's no need to pretend to be something it is not and set travellers up with expectations about what they can do there (cook, work out, e.g.)

Wonderful location with scenic views over the rainforest and the waterfall and very friendly and helpful staff on site.
