Beware the thousands of lizards, frogs and snakes, don't let the room doors and windows open. But hey, that's part of the experience. We had dinner and we got reaally small portions of meat and fish. That was a shame. But otherwise it was good.

Beautiful, very romantic place if you come with a partner. The rooms are great. Very nice staff that helped with the booking of the safari and prepared us a to go breakfast.

Site is a little remote, but property is self-contained and so this is not a major problem.

Cottage accommodation is very spacious, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The garden and lakeside setting are picturesque. Extensive low level path lighting enhances the general atmosphere. Unfortunately, we arrived quite late after a long safari at Yala NP and could not take full advantage of the facilities offered. The manager and kitchen staff prepared dinner for us even though the kitchen was clearly closing up. Both dinner and breakfast were tasty. A minor water problem in the bathroom was immediately attended to and fixed. We regret we could not have stayed longer.

Beautiful setting. Room was spotless and comfortable. Food was fresh cooked and great. Hotel manager was exceptionally helpful and met dietary requirements and all transport requests. Wished we could have stayed longer to explore the lake by evening kayaking. Would happily return. All staff very helpful.

The staff were extremely hospitable, warm and always welcoming. They arranged a very special candle light dinner for us within a short span of time as it was our anniversary. The view of the lake is amazing from the property. Definitely recommended for travellers planning to stay at Yala.

All the reviews about Mr.Danushka are true - he is kind, welcoming and will look after your every need. A really lovely man. The food was delicious and we enjoyed trying to fish on the lake. Our room was clean and comfortable - couldn't fault it. Mr.Danushka organised an all-day safari trip for us which we really enjoyed. Would love to visit again!

Little away from the town which is not an issue if you have a vehicle but other facilities more than outweigh this disadvantage

Property is absolutely clean and bathroom is spotless. Breakfast was great. The lake behind the property was so beautiful in the morning with numerous birds either having a bath or catching fish. If you are a birdlover, do not look for another. I made an error by booking for a day instead of the following day via booking.com. I panicked when realised the mistake but Manager Danushka (hope I got his name correct) was kind enough to provide me with a room and remove my actual booking. So, not out of pocket. If not for him, I would have been strandard almost around midnight that day. Overall, it is great property. Didn't expect such a quality in that part of the country

Beautiful place right by the lake. Rooms were spacious, beds very comfy. The manager and staff were very attentive and nice. They even got a naturalist to talk to us about local wildlife, prepared packed breakfast for our safari and made sure every request was fulfilled immediately. It felt like a perfect place to recharge and get some rest.

Would have liked a kettle and fridge in the room. The path to the lake had not been cared for so after rain it was too wet too walk through the grass.

Friendly attentive staff. Room and outdoor seating very relaxing. Meals were delicious and good choice of menu. Bed very comfortable and nice hot shower. Wifi excellent.

7km from city center means you need to take a tuktuk back and forth to go to city center but they are cheap and staff arranges that for you when needed. Quietness pays off. Wifi coverage is low, I recommend getting a prepaid SIM card to move around Tissa in general (4€)

Great place in Lake Yala, far from city center. It feels like you are staying in the middle of the savanna. There are few huts in the complex so it's really quiet, low light pollution so stargazing at night is an option. There is a gate you can use to access Yala lake to see buffalos and walks at sunset, really cool. There were some friendly guardian dogs around and the staff was very nice, always available 24x7.

We stayed at Saffron Lake Yala for one night and had such a great experience. Everyone was super friendly and helpful! We only wish we had stayed longer, as there are more activities organized by the team there, that we didn’t know about before. The room is clean and the terrace is great, overall 10/10; recommend!
