The descriptions on booking need revising as the differences in properties are not clear. Also the conversion rate worked out for my first stay was slightly higher than it should have been, but only by a couple of dollars. The beach hut is not entirely waterproof in a storm/rain (but this was somewhat expected). One of the staff liked to sit next to my bungalow, where my bed was, and play loud videos at night but he did stop when I asked.

An actual property on the beach - a beautiful part of Tangalle although you need to go a bit further down to swim. Lots say they are on the beach but are not, however this is. Lots of beds and chairs to laze about on or sunbath in. Really good food (run separately to - but part of - the hotel). Friendly staff. There is a small gym on site (although the air con does not work).

It isn’t walking distance from Tangalle centre, but for us this didn’t matter, we used the time to relax and visit local, family run restaurants for dinner!

Ibisbird Beach Bungalow is a little paradise! The bungalows sit on the beach and you have everything you could possibly need on your doorstep! They have an on-site cafe/restaurant which is slightly pricey but just a couple of minutes down the beach there are plenty of affordable restaurants and bars!

Our Bungalow was by the beach with an uninterrupted view of the waves pounding the shore. The area was clean and free from rubbish unlike other parts of the beach. Staff were great and the food was healthy and wholesome. i would come back here for a week!

Great beachfront bungalow, always nice sea breeze and lots of mature trees for shade. very clean and spacious bathroom with hot water, comfortable large bed, table, chairs and hanging space for clothes! It is the perfect place for rejuvenating, long beach walks, just chilling, reading a book or exploring the city by a short bicycle ride! I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, nutritious, healthy food at the restaurant “Atmosphere “

The restaurant only seemed to serve western food, which is fine if that’s what you’re after but when in Sri Lanka I think it’s great to eat the local food seeing as it’s so delicious! The place is further from the centre and some of the best beaches, but this is known before booking so is not so much a complaint, just something to note. All in all I don’t really have a complaint, but I think as the price is more than I paid for most of Sri Lanka, but I feel I received less of that lovely hospitality everywhere else provided, as well as lacking in the delicious food other places provided, I think in future I’d stick to a cheaper and more traditional homestay/guesthouse as this place was more expensive but did not feel any nicer than those places. I do understand, however, that at the coastal towns prices increase. I think that in Sri Lanka basic is often better or the same as mid-range. Only when you pay luxury does the quality increase.

The property is on the beach which is nice. I stayed in one of the huts which is great as you step outside onto the beach. The beach itself is pretty nice, not busy, and I enjoyed waking up for sunrise which you can see once you walk out onto the beach. The rooms itself was nice enough, it was spacious. But it felt like it could do with a tiny upgrade due to some small things, but nothing major at all! There are restaurants close by which is convenient as well. All in all, a nice place to stay for a decent price considering it’s right on the beach.

Best location! It is located on the beach with big sunbeds and beautiful palms. Bed was comfortable and there was a mosquito net. Room with the sea view is absolutely the best with big terrace. There is also an Atmosphere restaurant with delicious breakfasts and tasty pizza, highly recommend!

Thing really except we could have done with some air con! The ceiling fan wasn’t enough to keep us cool at night but there are rooms with ac, definitely didn’t put us off! The staff were lovely and we redid a lovely welcoming fruit juice on arrival?

The location was stunning, almost on the beach with fantastic views and sounds of the ocean! My cousin and I loved the Buddha bowl we had for breakfast, the immunity booster drink and the delicious smoothies!

The kitchen is run by a pop up chef and this means that you can only get drinking water when they are around, when the kitchen closes early this is not ideal as the nearest shop is 20 minute walk. We would suggest water to be available from reception staff/communal fridge. There was poor communication from staff and it was difficult to understand where you should go for things. Reception would be closed early some evenings so you could not get advice. Also just a note to say, although this is not the hotels fault, there is a bar a few minutes walk away that had a party until 5am on the Friday night which kept a lot of people at the hotel awake!

Wonderful location at the quieter end of Tangalle beach, plenty of free sunbeds. Spent 6 nights here and found it very relaxing after travelling around Sri Lanka. Great Bungalow on the sea front - can hear the waves crashing from your room.

We were met with cold juice as a welcoming and very nice staff. Because of some troubles with our first room, Angelika (the owner) didn't hesitate and gave us a new room which was an upgrade with no fine. The hotel was vert nice and just out to the water and the beach, the only thing was that you needed to walk 5-8 minutes because of rocks in the water. A very lovely stay!

- It’s not possible to swim in front of the hotel. But with a 10-15 min walk on the beach you can. There is an outdoor shower for those who want to cool down at the hotel. -wifi and internet didn’t work in my room. But outside the room (in the restaurant area) it worked fine

Its a little bit further from the centre (15-20min walk) but because of that it is I nice quite area. The whole set up is beautiful, with a small restaurants and different kind of sun beds. If you like, you can have breakfast, lunch and diner. There are also some nice restaurants around the hotel. The room was spacious and clean! If you want to relax, this is your stay

I had a fantastic stay at Ibisbird. The bungalow was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The beach is basically right in front of your doorstep and you can enjoy yourself all day long. It is a very quiet place and the beach is almost empty. Perfect. I ate nearly every day at the restaurant attached to the hotel. The food is vegetarian and very delicious. All the of the staff was super helpful and friendly. Would love to come back.

This place is almost on the beach so be aware of the humidity everywhere. I dont know if there is anything to do about it but there are too many flies :(

Got for free upgrade to the bungalow, which I highly reccomend to chose. Definitely you should try tasty vegan food here!
