Like everywhere in Sri Lanka, there were mosquitos which come in through the open bathroom window / roof area. The mosquito net over the bed worked well though. Slightly more expensive than other places we stayed during our Sri Lanka trip but seemed like good value in Arugam Bay with AC and location. There was some music from the nearby karaoke bar but this stopped at a reasonable hour.

Location walking distance to beach, shops and restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Helped us to organize a surfing lesson/guide which was great. Air-conditioning worked well and was definitely needed as it was hot and humid while we were there.

My only issue was that the bathroom window was always open, this is normal in such a hot place. I would suggest simply adding a fine mesh/net to stop insects coming through but still let air flow through.

Great service from the warm staff, thank you Kevin and team! Relaxed, hands-off stay with plenty of advice available when asked. Wonderful location, very central but still quaint with well maintained gardens. Room was large, comfy and well equipped.

Nothing very tragic, but the bathroom had an open window, which we couldn't close. We just kept our showers quick, because of the midges.

We had a very nice spacious room. The staff was very helpful and we could park our car next to the house. We were welcomed with a very good pot of tea, which we had on a couch in front of our room.. Breakfast was included in our stay and very tasty. This location also has a very nice garden.

This property was located close to town and all the restaurants as well as the most wonderful little swim beach! Kevin was an incredible host and the rooms were large and clean! As we traveled out of season breakfast wasn’t provided, but we were able to use the kitchen to make ourselves meals. Highly recommend this property!

We stayed at the Forcus Cabanas for two nights and had an amazing time. The cabanas are really large, clean and the AC worked perfectly. The location is also perfect, it’s in the center of the town, almost directly at the beach and close to all restaurants and surf schools. But the best thing were Kevin and his team. They made sure we had the best time in Arugam Bay. They kept making sure we had everything we needed. We were welcomed with a juice, they gave us towels we could take to the beach, prepared a delicious breakfast and brought us tea at night. One day my partner didn’t feel well from eating something that upset his stomach the night before. When I told the team they were so caring, gave us some local medicine that made him feel better and kept asking if there was anything else they could do. We can 100% recommend you staying here if you want to have a great time in Arugam Bay!

The walls don’t reach all the way to the ceiling, it is a cabana after all, and this let in a good amount of bugs such as mosquitos and roaches. The bathroom window didn’t latch shut and the vent in the bathroom didn’t have a screen, so we had many mosquitos come in regularly. Location is in a bustling area and you will hear loud music/parties in the distance (and sometimes from one of the cafes nearby). The only major negative was laundry — we do not recommend doing it here. We were first told they have a laundry machine, and then told it is done by hand. We were billed for 12kg of laundry at a high rate, and later weighed all of our laundry at a total of 7kg. A good amount of it came back smelling worse than it did when we gave it in. There are many other places in the area to machine wash for half the price.

Excellent location right by the beach. One of the best bathrooms we had in Sri Lanka. Great air conditioning. Room and garden area were relaxing and comforting. Staff is pleasant and accommodating.

This was my second time visiting Forcus, and it didn’t disappoint. Focus is very well located, close to the surfing beach. The room was very clean and comfortable. The garden of the property are beautiful and very well maintained. Breakfast was fantastic every day - we were offered fruit plates, omelettes and various Sri Lankan breakfast dishes, including the best coconut pancakes we had all trip! The staff were always very helpful, and even helped us source replacement glasses when mine broke.

A real slice of paradise right in the middle of Arugam Bay, extremely friendly staff that make you feel like you're staying at a home-stay, the rooms are beautiful, and you have the beach only a few meters down the road and all the shops and restaurants right next door - yet you feel totally separate to it all the moment you enter the garden walls. This is the perfect place to stay in Arugam Bay.
