Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomSeats and a table on the rooms rooftop terrace would have been a good extra touch. The wifi didnt reach back to my bedroom at the very back of the hotel but worked fine everywhere else
The whole hotel is gorgeous. The beach is perfect for swimming, very clean with gorgeous views and is so private (not packed with hundreds of other tourists). You can walk to the rocks on the corner for great snorkeling and to explore the huge other beach on the other side. In the evening (5pm) all the local fishermen turn up to take their boats out as the sun sets and its like a free show every day as the boats are beautiful and the locals are all very friendly. The rooms are all huge with private garden seating areas with overhead fans and your own coffee machine. The food and drinks were all very reasonably priced and often enjoyed having a beer brought to me on the beach as the sun set. The staff were all so lovely and friendly and attentive, even showing me monkeys that had come to visit the hotel one day. Loads of wildlife to see at the hotel to keep you entertained and the food was all delicious. Took a tuk tuk from the hotel one day down to Hikkaduwa Turtle Beach to go Scuba Diving (about 20-30 mins drive with great views along the way). The busy beach there made me grateful to return to the hotels quiet one. A private piece of paradise

GermanyThere was nothing to complain about, the only pity was that our vacation was coming to an end.
Beautiful small complex in the middle of a tropical garden. The 10 small villas are modern and tastefully furnished, a small garden with a cozy seating area completes the room, nice and useful also the outdoor shower when you come back from swimming. Very nice that the garden also provided a habitat for many animals, we enjoyed the bird concerts, We were delighted to see mongooses, geckos, monkeys, monitor lizards and a sea eagle, which often made its rounds over the site. The villa is cleaned every day and the bed is lovingly decorated with flowers and plants. A large pool, with fresh water without chemicals, is pleasant when the sea is too stormy and the lifeguard puts up the red flag. Yes, the small resort has a lifeguard who made us feel safe at all times with his friendly manner. Very nice restaurant, where we were spoiled with a delicious breakfast in the morning, small snacks and drinks were served during the day. Huge praise to the chef! Every meal was excellent and beautifully prepared. A big compliment also to the waiters, who were extraordinarily friendly and professional, and who fulfilled our every wish. The recommendations regarding the preparation of the freshly caught fish we ordered were great! The two dogs, Tommy and Max, were also very cute and we took them to our hearts. (However, they were also kept away from people who don't like dogs or are anxious) As we were here at the end of a round trip, we just wanted to relax and didn't make use of the spa, yoga and meditation facilities or the excursions.

SlovakiaEverything about the Calamansi Cove Villas was great. It was clean, stylish, located on a quiet beachfront, just a few steps from golden sands and calm blue waves. During our stay, we enjoyed the tranquility of the place, beautiful green sceneries in the gardens and local atmosphere at the beach. The staff at the resort was attentive, polite and friendly. Even though we arrived very early in the morning (due to some travel issues) the manager (Mr. Samitha) helped us with no delay with a room. The kitchen here is great and we had to try almost everything on the menu, including the local specialities. Our thanks go also to all the nice people at the reception, restaurant, lifeguard and housekeeping (Janith, Omesh, Hasitha, Sadiqi and Niro 🙏). If you are looking for a quiet and secluded place to calm down and relax, with excellent services - this is the place to go.

RussiaIt takes some time to reach other places.
The hotel is situated in a quiet area among private houses. This means that there are no shops and restaurants nearby. The village at the main road is not touristic, only local people. It is very nice place with pool and beach which begins on the hotel territory. The beach is quiet, only one more hotel is situated here. As I understand all villas are the same, but some of them are near the pool, others aren’t. Each villa has a room with bathroom and a terrace. Rooms are clean and have a modern interior. Restaurant is a-la cart (breakfast too).

MalaysiaNothing really, all good.
I really loved that it wasn’t a bland big resort, it was small, boutique with great Sri Lankan service with a smile. I really felt like I was away from it all, very relaxed with

Sri LankaWe could not have landed up at a better place, this is a true gem, hidden away with great food and the most amazing beach - we decided to stay there at the last minute because we had originally booked a big hotel, but we were just dying for some peace and quiet after traveling around the country. We could not have been more delighted when we arrived at sunset to a beautiful beachfront and pool direct from our villa. Definitely coming back. Great staff and a real hideaway - a very special place. Thank you.

AustraliaAccessing the hotel is a bit tricky. You wouldn't think there is a hotel in the road that leads to it.
Everything about this small hotel is fantastic. The staff was wonderful, the life guard and the receptionist were very friendly and supportive. Food was really good and it is such a calm and quiet place to wind down for a family or a couple.

United KingdomVery quiet which was perfect for us but might not suit others. Felt expensive compared to other places we have stayed on our trip but we had a great time so it was worth it:
Pool and beach amazing. It felt like we had the beach and pool basically to ourselves with our toddler. Brilliantly family friendly and kind staff. Good food and lovely breakfast. Arranged great boat safari for us picked up straight from beach in front of hotel. Calm sea which was great for swimming, even with our toddler! very comfy bed too and beautiful cot provided. Also v quick to sort out our change in dates due to flight delay and price confusion too which was really appreciated.

UkraineSometimes the air conditioner rattled and cracked during operation. Too much of noisy russians who quarrel all the time
Very nice staff working in this lovely hotel. We spent a great week at this branch of paradise. The breakfast is delicious as well as the dinner. Our villa is well equipped, the bed is large and comfortable. Thank you for the great choice of pillows in the room. The shower room has a great view of the jungle. It was also nice to find a luxury set of cosmetics for the shower and dental care. There is enough space near the pool, comfortable wide sunbeds, silence and relaxation. Many thanks to the lovely man on the beach who keeping us in safe during the swimming in the ocean. He was always very helpful and smiling.

RussiaOff course if you want something better, it exist in many other 5*lux destination - better furniture, better showers… But this hotel is unique in completely different way: it’s perfectly integrated in nature with offering all necessary comfort facilities. There is a lot of space in your private garden for yoga, coffee corner and even there is Buddha sculpture..
This was one of the best place where we spent vacation on the sea side. There are many places which arranged like royal palaces, but we personally prefer different: real wild natural ocean beach, but clean and nice for safe swimming (big-big plus for Sri-Lanka, where strong waves may block any swimming in the ocean), lovely palm garden which size and small number of hotel guests create luxury space for peaceful time spending: you are in the center of very attentive service for whatever you need: sunny or shadow, ocean view or pool view, table outdoor or in classic restaurant, wine or fruit fresh juices, sea food or European kitchen… Everything is organized professionally and absolutely individually. The waiters were warm, not just formal (Phil and his colleague were very doing there work in really very good way ), the safeguard on the beach - is not about only safety, but center of the sunny good mood and any help you may need: extra towel, moving the sun-bed… And I want personally and especially thanks Mrs. Nirodha Silva, the hotel manager - anything we wanted was arranged absolutely professionally , nothing was forgotten or missed, all on time… Many thanks!

United KingdomPoor maintenance, rude service: on 19 December-day one I was walking barefoot from the beach to the pool and found a pile of dog poo on the lawn, and the pool toilet grubby, infested with bugs and no hand towels; shockingly it was in the same state on the next day and was reported. Heavy metallic sunbeds were a struggle to move with the shade but no assistance was offered. We found mosquitoes in our room and patio and big red ants on the steps to the roof terrace - a spray was given to us. In the early evening of 19 December when I was on my way from the beach to the room in a dripping wet swimsuit a pushy restaurant worker stopped me with a menu and insisted to order dinner on the spot (I said we would have dinner in about 2-3 hours). When I was trying to excuse myself he informed he would call our room in 5 minutes to take the order. We don't eat early, and asked until what time dinner was served, which was supposedly 2100. On the next day the same worker confronted us to finish dinner by 2030! the day after he even came to our room to urge us to the restaurant. The entrance to the staff area is right by the pool: male workers were lingering and staring - I had to move to another sunbed. It was a task to get a second beach towel explaining the first one was wet. Our first breakfast was basic caf style fried food instead of the preordered. We left most of it but for the next 3 days we still had to send dishes back. We raised all issues with a manager in a sari who in turn challenged us to move to a big resort of JetWing chain as more suitable (!) At the check out we asked to take service charge off, they refused saying other guests pay even higher rates for the same dates, up to $370 a night. FYI average monthly wages in Sri Lanka around $ 130-150. The British owner was there at the time using a smallish pool for intense evening swimming in a snorkel mask (not to face guests?) hardly leaving space for anyone else, and that was the only presence.
modern villa design and the beach; we had 3 good dinners during our 4 nights stay, and 1 good lunch which the chef offered to make up for a mediocre breakfast we could not eat

RussiaUnfortunately this is not a 5 star hotel indeed. The villa and the location is very good, quite calm, but the hotel definitely needs reparations. The room is in general Ok, the WC facilities not good! Too old! The toilet is not properly fixed, it’a not appropriate for a 5 star hotel! Pool area is fine, but not clean and accurate enough. The pool WC is awful The beach is good for swimming, no big waves in the morning and during the day, but the beach is clean only 2 steps from the hotel. There’s a village nearby and there’ a a lot of dirts very close to the hotel and on the beach. Again this is not appropriate for a 5 star hotel. The service leaves much to be desired, not really welcoming staff, was expecting more. Breakfast are not bed, average, not big choice.
Location is good, quite calm Food is not bad. dinner with fresh fish was quite good Beds are comfortable
