Unfortunately the public beach at the front of the hotel is not as well looked after as the hotel. Also unfortunately the surf was a little too rough at times. However the hotel pool was always welcoming and available.

The staff were helpful and courteous at all times. The manager was particularly patient and understanding. We felt safe, comfortable and relaxed all the time we were there.

There is nothing to dislike

Beautiful bungalow set in lovely garden with the best pool , perfect location with a great beach safe for swimming. The staff are so welcoming and looked after us so well , delicious breakfast and dinner in the restaurant is very good . Also nice to have great music in the bar area!

Access to the beach was a little rugged but I understand this is somewhat out of the hotel's control and it didn't stop me getting down there each day for a walk and a swim. There was nothing I didn't like and I will definitely be returning.

Staff were really professional, attentive, personable and attentive. Restaurant had a good menu and the own brand coffee produced next door was excellent. Right on a swimmable beach and walking distance to Silent Beach. Room was spacious and had everything I needed.

The restaurant's prices are too high we ended up having lunch and dinner outside. The room decor feels a bit outdated for my personal taste.

The highlight of Aga Surf View is undoubtedly its prime location right next to the beach. The cabanas are spacious, and the beds are super comfortable. The pool area is fantastic, providing a great spot for relaxation. The staff members are very friendly and helpful, contributing to the overall positive experience. The vibe is peaceful and laid-back, creating a perfect atmosphere for a relaxing getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Aga Surf View to anyone visiting Tangalle

This property is a little gem if you like surfing and relaxing, the spot right in front of the house is very pleasant, not too big waves on reef and not crowded like in some other places. They have a good choice of boards to choose from. The restaurant is very tasty and the whole team is truly amazing! The villas are super comfortable and very quiet, you feel like at home.

We absolutely loved our stay at Aga! It was the perfect place to relax for a couple of days and we loved that the rooms were all private bungalows. Having the private pool was so ideal when you needed shade during the day as there wasn’t a lot on the beach. The food and coffee in particular is amazing, it was the best breakfast we had on our whole trip. Everyone who works there was so kind and helpful and we’ll definitely be back!

My only suggestion for the hotel is to make the restaurant area non-smoking. This was only an issue for us on one of the days when there were smokers, but it felt old fashioned.

Great little place. Nicely tucked away from the more heavily touristed beaches, while still having several good dining options around. The room was a great size, probably the biggest of any on our Sri Lankan holiday. Staff were very friendly, especially with our two year old daughter. Shout out to Indeka (spelling maybe not correct?), who our daughter loved, and who went out of his way to help. The little beach is nice and good for swimming. There is a little bit of rubbish, but mainly because it is also a fishing beach. We liked that the fisherman were there with their boats (mainly in the mornings), as it felt more lived in. Silent Beach is close by and an easy walk. It is very nice there for hanging out, but not really a good swimming beach.

Aga Surf is a dream hotel which felt like an oasis of calm after a hectic trip around Sri Lanka. The rooms are stunning and huge, the pool is fabulous and it's lovely to go between the beach and pool depending on the tides. The whole team are so attentive and sweet, it's honestly one of the nicest places I've ever stayed.

If we really have to be picky; it would be nice not having to choose between a fruit platter or a fruit juice for breakfast. Other than that nothing but positive things!

Aga Surf View is a little paradise on earth! The 5 spacious and super clean cottages are located around a beautiful lush garden with a lovely pool. The restaurant serves amazing food, as well as the best coffee. We bought 2 bags of coffee beans from them as we liked it very much. The staff is so friendly and helpful, really taking the next step and being proactive. The beautiful Silent Beach (picturesque, but with huge/strong waves) is a 5 minutes walk. The beach in front of the hotel is more quiet and suitable for swimming. The next time we’d for sure stay more than 2 nights! Thank you!

Our stay at Aga Surf View was perfect and we recommend it to everybody that wants a relaxed hotel with high quality. Everything was well kept and tidy. The garden was beautiful, breakfast with very good coffe and special bread wonderful. The restaurant serves different dishes, all very good. The staff and manager were all very friendly and helpful. Simply the best place in Sri Lanka! An incredibly beautiful hotel, gorgeous and sizeable rooms, a wonderfully chilled vibe and atmosphere, and the most attentive and lovely staff. It was such a joy. Oh, and some of the best food (and coffee!) we had on the island. We couldn't't recommend this place enough!

The breakfast could provide more healthy options such as smoothie bowls, porridge, yoghurt or curd and muesli, smashed avocado toast. (The bread is actually lovely.) At the moment it’s all Western egg based with bacon and sausages. Sri Lankan breakfast has to be pre-ordered the day before, this should be standard on the menu and cooked in-house rather than brought in. However, the coffee is grand!

Beautiful place tastefully arranged with antique pieces of art or furniture everywhere. It’s old fashioned elegance mixed with beach lifestyle hip-ness. Everything works properly such as the aircon, fridge, shower, food is served quickly, requests are dealt with promptly, everything is very well done. The space itself invites for longer stays, it’s very relaxing by the pool, each house has its own terrace with couches and a (working!) fan. I stayed for 5 nights and could have easily stay longer! Thank you to the team and especially Indika who seems to keep it all together. Highly recommended!

Absolutely nothing

Everything was perfect. The facilities, room, pool and the amazing restaurant with delicious food and breakfast . But the most special thing about this place was the best hotel manager we ever met! Our little boy was scratched by a dog on a nearby beach- without this amazing man who went with us to the hospital, vet etc. we wouldn’t be able to handle this situation so we’ll. Thank you so much for the help and the amazing hospitality. I highly recommend this hidden gem❤️

Absolutely nothing and we’d happily stay there again

The location couldn’t be better for us, right on the sea by a safe cove to swim. We had a choice of local bars and restaurants although the food at Aga was excellent. The rooms were beautiful and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were lovely and helpful and thank you Indiku for sorting out the scooter and tut tut.

This exceeded our expectations. It was the top pick in Lonely Planet which we used as a guide. The rooms are superb and it is right on the beach, the only one in the area where you can swim safely. The food was brilliant and the best coffee in Sri Lanka.
