The only thing we didn’t like was there quite a few mosquitoes on arrival, however staff helped us to get rid of them.

The property was quiet, clean, and very good location! The staff were also 10/10, very helpful and accommodating.

WiFi is spotty, not good enough if you need to work, need to buy data as well. Shower, bathroom and toilet is combined so floor is always wet (very common in Laos for cheaper guesthouses). To increase comfort really need a shower that is contained.

Great breakfast, lovely couple who own it. Had balcony room with view of river, so this and breakfast main reason we stayed an extra 5 nights.

A fantastic breakfast in the morning! The room was clean, well appointed with a hot water from the shower. It's in easy walking distance to town centre but also in a quite part of town so I slept well.

The shower in the bathroom was in the beginning a little bit awkward. But showered the toilet at the same time.

The view from our room was fantastic. We saw the river Nam Khan and the mountains in the distance. It was a dream. The breakfast was very good and served by the table. The staff was very helpful and the owners was very friendly.

The pillow was a little too firm/large for my preference.

An excellent stay at Cold River! I was a little nervous about my room as it is listed as having no window (I was worried that it would feel claustrophobic). But my room was great! There is an internal window that, so you do get a little natural light (but you'll still need the lights on when in the room). But I certainly didn't feel too trapped by it! The decor is lovely and everything is clean. There is a kettle in the room and tea and coffee provided. And a water dispenser in the hall (always appreciate this to avoid plastic bottles!). The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it (your choice of eggs, a plate of fruit, a small bowl of yogurt and muesli, crepe/pancake, baguette). The location is nice too and only a short walk to the main tourist drag. The laundry service they offer is great (line dry rather than tumble dry, so your clothes are treated with better care). And I made friends with the sweetest cat. I can definitely recommend staying here.

Property needs some maintenance and updating. Better showers in particular.

Very bad insonorisation, so you can hear everything from other rooms and outside. Luckily no dogs or temples nearby. So the ability to sleep without earplugs only depends on the other travelers in the hotel. To be fair though all Lao hotels are like that.

Really enjoyed our stay here. We had an upstairs room and it was worth the extra money (we were initially shown to a cheaper room which was intended for someone with a similar name and we’re pleased we had paid the extra for the view). The breakfast was the best we had in Laos. The place nearly next door provided an hour Thai massage for about $6. It’s a bit of a walk into town but tuk tuk drivers were always available. They were friendly and no real bartering was required to get a price of around 40k Kip into town.

The bathroom is very very small and the ventilation in it is not great.

Staff and owners are very helpful and friendly. They gave me without a problem a different room after I let them know the one I booked was too stuffy and damp, very generous and kind of them. Very quiet place with a beautiful area to sit in front. Exceptional breakfast!

Hot water for the shower was not very hot, and not a lot of pressure. Room smelled a bit damp (not a lot) when we took it. We mentioned it and with a bit of windows opening and incense the hotel provided dampness went out.

Not super central but only a 15 min walk or 5 min tuk tuk to the night market or peninsula.

Beautiful hotel, nicely decorated with a gorgeous balcony view over the river catching sunrise. Breakfast was amazing. The room had a fridge, safe, AC and fan.

Room quite small and not a lot of space to unpack. Bathroom in need of re-tiling and wonky shelf needs fixing. Room bolt lock broken. Air conditioning controls hard to understand and quite noisy at night.

Room had lovely balcony with great river view. Interior decor was delightful. Very clean. Breakfast was excellent - freshly made up for each person with proper French bread. Prompt and effective laundry service.

We stayed here back in July and it was great hotel for value! Breakfast was good room was comfortable with good AC! Staff was very helpful when my bank card got stuck in a ATM the kind man at reception rung the bank and helped me get it back! Would definitely recommend if visiting Luang Prabang!
