This isn’t a tourist hotel, as westerners we found the rooms a little odd and just the general vibe was ‘different’. There was no bath mat or shower screen so we had to use a towel to mop up the spray.

You cannot fault the location of Sun Star, it really couldn’t be better, there is a fabulous coffee shop ‘Wooded’ next door the hand made pies and coffee were the best I had in Korea and it was interesting people watching on a Saturday afternoon , a visitor centre and of course the fortress wall just steps away. Many restaurants nearby (as long as you eat around 6pm). It’s basic and one of our rooms smelt really strongly of cigarette smoke but for a night we slept comfortably. During our road trip of South Korea this was the only place we had 2 pillows and could control the air conditioning. Toiletries all provided, some parking available which the man operating took care of, so we had to warn him via Google translate we would be leaving early so he could get the cars out to free ours (it’s in the old part obviously so he has to park in a tetras arrangement 🤣)

Great location, close to fortress walls and easy bus ride from both Suwon bus terminal and the train/metro station. They let me leave my bag after checkout. Microwave and water dispenser in reception area. Fridge and kettle in room.

The hotel is perfectly located just a minute from nice coffee shops, good restaurants, cute gift shops and the city walls. It is easily reached by bus. The hotel itself is clean. It is basic but generally made for a pleasurable stay in Suwon. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The room did not have any cooking stuff except for a tea pot. There is a microwave in the entrance aswell as noodles and drinks to stock up on. So even if you don't want to go outside the hotel to restaurants/cafes, for whatever reason, you'll survive.

I'd say suwon sunstar Hotel out did itself for the price, really clean, nice room layout with TV nicely infront of the bed, all possible nessesities, and a heated bed. The area the hotel is located in is great if you want cool cafes, stores, and art exebitions, it's worth to explore each street. Not to mention the traditional buildings and old giant wall.

There was mold, and alot of it. This was the main reason I switched rooms. Other things that I noted was alot of dust behind furniture and the faucet was broken. One of the night robes where tattered and the computer keyboard did not work (note I did ask for a replacement keyboard, which was granted). And the room only had the main lights working..

I found a few things displeasing about the room and asked if it was possible to switch room.. They accommodated my request and the new room was alot better. Still not amazing mind you but better.

The description of our room was not correct on the site. Plus, there was no mention of getting a smoking room. Which we had our son with us. When addressed, they said they were booked. But when they weren't, the very next day, there was no offer to move us.

We arrived in a smoking room, including ashtray. We double checked our booking, which is a smoke free room. The staff disagreed about this, and with frustration they went through the room with a cleaning spray. Not helpful and we did not feel understood here. No other clean room was available. A helpful local helped in communication, and he indicated he experienced the same problem. Around 23.00 we got out of bed, the staff knocked on the door to provide us another room. Late, but happy we moved. However, the sheets and pillows have several fresh and nasty stains. These were not cleaned for sure. We gave up complaining or moving around this time. Nb. There is parking, but limited to 4 cars max.

The location and accommodation are nice, it’s generally clean and for good value, but the negative part below ruins our stay and review here.

The location was fantastic! Right next to Hwaseong Fortress. Great price for the value and the location is unbeatable. The staff was also super friendly. Would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat.
