Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWhile it was low season and covid has no doubt been hard on them, Lonely Beach could do with some more up-keeping, as there are parts that are a bit worn down or neglected and washed-up trash is scattered on areas of the beach. It’s part of the charm and the eco-conscious lifestyle Lonely Beach is going for, but it’s probably not for those who aren’t accustomed to sacrificing a few comforts. No running water, water is pretty still, everything is kind of damp, and I wouldn’t stay here if you aren’t comfortable fishing dead rodents out of your water supply…
Lonely Beach is a remote, untouched piece of paradise. Extremely peaceful and quiet with a beautiful beach that you basically get to yourselves. Huts are simple & basic but charming and rustic with main restaurant/communal area with delicious menu (huge portions) that are fresh and filling. Owned by Dani, a friendly, hospitable, slightly eccentric character and his pack of 7 dogs, he is committed to the eco conscious lifestyle and is incredibly thoughtful and helpful and knows the area, the land, and the people. 4 am plankton swims, sunrise on the beach, hammock lounges, great conversations with fellow travelers and playing games with a rambunctious 8-year old who was staying for the weekend all helped make our stay special.

ItalyFor a solo female traveller, the place gets a little scary at night. The stories of break ins were enough to keep me awake as the windows/doors don’t lock properly. I did manage to catch some sleep after sunrise though!
Lonely beach is beautiful. During the day, it is stunning. The beach was unbelievable and was lucky enough to witness the most incredible sunset. The staff are also lovely.

United KingdomWe loved our stay at Lonely Beach so much. We very quickly felt at home after being welcomed by Dany and his dogs. Dany is so helpful, interesting, kind and Lonely Beach is worth visiting to meet Dany alone! You can learn a lot about life living on Koh Rong with both Dany and his also brilliant friend, Kylie- Kylie teaches the scuba diving of which he is very patient and a good teacher. Then on top of that, you have his gorgeous doggos who have the most lovely temperament much like their owner. You will be welcomed by them every time you visit and they are very intelligent and learn new skills very quick. This place also attracts very interesting people also. The grounds are beautiful and in the day you can explore the local villages and beaches, then in the evening you can swim with the plankton and then go back to the room where you can sleep with the bats- there is no rabies on Koh Rong and there are mosquito nets too which are fascinating to sit in and watch the bats all flying around the room catching all the mosquitos (they don’t go near the mosquito nets). I was scared of the bats at first but very quickly became fond of them- they are completely harmless, we were there 5/6 nights (lose track of time here), Dany has been for 13 years and never any issues. It seems daunting but such a unique experience that I’d recommend to anyone. The water to wash with is very clean and refreshing, the room is clean and very large also. I am really sad to have left Lonely Beach and want to return to Koh Rong, purely just to visit again. Thank you Dany, Kylie and all the dogs for such an amazing experience. We miss you very much.

United KingdomWith electricity being a premium on this part of the island the rooms didn't have a fan or AC so they got really hot at night
The bar and hangout area set up is really good and they make some really nice food. The staff were really nice and helpful if I had any issues. The location is perfect!

CambodiaThe food was amazing, could be better than some expensive places on the island. Everything else is subjective. If you want off grid extreme privacy. That's it. The beach is not as beautiful as the main beaches.

United KingdomIf you want to experience the real beach wild life this is your place. Location is incredible as you sleep in your jungle bungalow in front of white beach with no signs of civilization around you. On top of that, other things which I really loved were swimming in the plankton at night and great food from the kitchen. Truly great experience.

I recommend totally this incredible paradise in the middle of the nature. Perfect to relax, read, swim and eat great food. There are also some activities if you are interested.

GermanyWe only stayed one night, but everything seemed alright and tidy! We arrived late, but were still able to charge our phones, which was nice (solar powered) and have some food. Everything is very basic but in the most beautiful and sustainable way.

A stay at Lonely Beach is perfectly simple beach life. The staff and clientele are lovely people and everybody works hard to keep a relaxed and easy going atmosphere. The beach itself is beautiful and the buildings are beautifully handmade. The food is also top notch.

IndiaGiven that the place is designed to be eco-friendly, the amenities are minimal, so at night it can get quite hot without a fan. But that's part of the experience and the overall ambience of the place makes it worth it to sacrifice those little luxuries.
Beautiful quiet beach, where you can get away from all the noise, take in nature, and see bioluminescent plankton at night. Dany, the staff, and the scuba diving instructor were all very friendly, and the food was delicious as well. Would highly recommend!

United KingdomNothing really, but it does get a bit hot without a fan at night... but that’s just what comes with the territory.
The most magical experience we’ve had. A little commune in the jungle filled with the loveliest people and the best energy of life. Dany and the rest of the staff were so incredibly warm and welcoming. Thank you! It’s very basic in the best way, everything runs on solar energy and water preservation which is amazing and refreshing to experience. At night you can even go and swim with the plankton under the stars. It’s truly an experience of a lifetime and would 100% recommend for those who seek this kind of experience.

FranceA fan in the rooms would be great, but recognizing it is complex to have reliable electricity in such a remote location. Reliable Internet connection would also be great to work remotely from Lonely Beach.

Best place to stay in koh Rong! Very quiet, secluded beach. Owners are lovely, restaraunt serves delicious food with so many veggie/vegan options. You can rent snorkels for 2$ a day. So many cute dogs and cats. I could not recommend more. Don't waste your time in any other place on the island and come here!
