Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe photos in the listing and the price tag set an expectation of a premium experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case for us. 1. We could not believe we arrived at the right place, seeing the resort from the outside. An old dirty multi-story building, that completely did not match the vibe of the place presented in the photos. 2. Service - We had good service from the staff, with no issues. That said, it was not a warm, friendly, welcoming, personal service and sometimes we felt rushed. 3. Room - The room was furnished in the traditional Japanese style (as we booked). However, the pillows felt like pillowcases filled with stones, which made it very difficult to get a good night's sleep. We had 2 onsen baths in the room, one on the balcony and the other in the bathroom. Both were covered with what we believe must have been mold. There were some cobwebs in the room as well. Altogether, this was not a premium experience as we expected it to be. We felt we received poor value for the money we paid. It seems to us the place needs an urgent and significant facelift and upgrade. Even more urgently this place needs a deep and thorough cleaning. We initially booked another onsen but a change in our travel dates forced us to change our booking to Yukimarasaki. This was a last-minute change and unfortunately, we did not read the reviews in advance. I do not believe that this establishment will be able to keep charging its premium prices for the current value it delivers. I would expect much more from places I pay half of what we have paid at Yukimarasaki.
The traditional dinner and breakfast were very good. The roof-top private onsen was nice and the view was amazing.

RomaniaThere are no shops nearby, so make sure you bring some snacks with you. The building might need some renovation- it wasn’t very disturbing for our experience but I think this hasn’t happened for some time now. The same goes for the in-room onsens. The staff was nice but we would have appreciated more English communication when interacting with them. Considering the price we pay, this would be very appreciated. In addition to the cost you pay, you need to cover also the onsen tax (150yen/person/day)
The food really introduced us to the Japanese cuisine - important thing is that if you like Western food more, this might be challenging, as there is only Japanese dishes served - I do think they cover all tastes - For us we really liked the experience. The beef was amazing. Also the rocks private onsen was really nice in the night, with clear skies and the stars. The location is peaceful and quiet.

AustraliaThe cleanliness of the baths could have been better. The wood on both the bookable and on-room baths had green growths on them, which were slimy to the touch. Similarly, there were a few small maintenance issues in the room. The shoji had a few spots of discolouration and a couple of small tears.
I stayed in a room option with a private bath available in my room, as well as the bookable outdoor private baths. The baths were generally nice and great to use The room as nice, with a well-equipped bathroom and toilet. Staff were accommodating, communicated in good English and communicated well on how to book the bath, dinner and breakfast times. Dinner and breakfast were both expansive and lovely.

GermanyThe pictures are pretty old as the wooden outside parts are not new anymore. But it is quite normal when there is onsen water 24/7 day in day out. It is not a big deal. Maybe these areas should be renewed by the hotel management in the next years anyways.
Beautiful remote hotel which can be easily reached via bus. Hiking options also available by taking the ropeway up to the road. Totally private (onsen balcony + top roof onsen + private dining boxes)

United StatesThere was nothing that didn't meet our expectations.
We loved how intimate and wonderful our stay at Yukimurasaki. The staff was 10/10, the facilities were 10/10, and the breakfast and dinner were 10/10. I would highly recommend to friends and family who are traveling in couples. It was our honeymoon and it was the most memorable stay in Japan.

GermanyThe experience would have been overall excellent if the hotel would be a cleaner overall (especially for the price). It seemed as if a lot of corners were cut while cleaning the property. E.g the inside „bathtub onsen“ had seen better decades and it was visible that it either needed to be replaced or properly deep-cleaned.
The receptionist/manager was super friendly and welcoming and spoke great English as well. Japanese friendliness how it’s talked about. The hotel had the „typical“ Japanese flair with it being completely covered in tatami matts, beautiful views from the room and 2 private onsen baths for our room or 2 onsen for the public that you could reserve to be private (free of charge). The food was amazing and a multi-course Japanese experience.

IsraelWe took the suite because we wanted a private onsen but apparently the public onsens are available to book for private sessions so no need get the private one. It was very expensive for the room although it was huge. It was very old and the private onsens aren’t clean. The food js very Japanese and for people who like western food, it might be a bit challenging.
Very special place. Onsens are beautiful and the overall experience is very unique. Huge room, Beautiful view, very friendly staff.
