The pictures are pretty old as the wooden outside parts are not new anymore. But it is quite normal when there is onsen water 24/7 day in day out. It is not a big deal. Maybe these areas should be renewed by the hotel management in the next years anyways.

Beautiful remote hotel which can be easily reached via bus. Hiking options also available by taking the ropeway up to the road. Totally private (onsen balcony + top roof onsen + private dining boxes)

There was nothing that didn't meet our expectations.

We loved how intimate and wonderful our stay at Yukimurasaki. The staff was 10/10, the facilities were 10/10, and the breakfast and dinner were 10/10. I would highly recommend to friends and family who are traveling in couples. It was our honeymoon and it was the most memorable stay in Japan.

The experience would have been overall excellent if the hotel would be a cleaner overall (especially for the price). It seemed as if a lot of corners were cut while cleaning the property. E.g the inside „bathtub onsen“ had seen better decades and it was visible that it either needed to be replaced or properly deep-cleaned.

The receptionist/manager was super friendly and welcoming and spoke great English as well. Japanese friendliness how it’s talked about. The hotel had the „typical“ Japanese flair with it being completely covered in tatami matts, beautiful views from the room and 2 private onsen baths for our room or 2 onsen for the public that you could reserve to be private (free of charge). The food was amazing and a multi-course Japanese experience.

We took the suite because we wanted a private onsen but apparently the public onsens are available to book for private sessions so no need get the private one. It was very expensive for the room although it was huge. It was very old and the private onsens aren’t clean. The food js very Japanese and for people who like western food, it might be a bit challenging.

Very special place. Onsens are beautiful and the overall experience is very unique. Huge room, Beautiful view, very friendly staff.

The rooms could really use some touch-up. They show wear and tear from probably years of use. There are scuffs on the wood, marks on the walls etc. Nothing really that's detrimental to your experience when staying there, but with just a little paint and varnish they could give the rooms a little premium feel. The staff try their best to help with the little English that they know, but a little more could be done to help the international guests. For example, it was possible to order drinks to the room, but the drink menu in the room was available only in Japanese. Only during dinner we got an English menu. We had to take a picture of it in order to have one in the room. Next issue is how to order. Calling the front desk would probably not have been fruitful, so we decided to look for someone from the staff, but at times they were difficult to track down. They should consider putting up a vending machine or something so guests can get some refreshments, especially since there is literally nothing around where you could buy something.

Highlight is of course the private onsen. We had the "Mine" room with both indoor and outdoor bath. Baths are really hot and we were able to use the outdoor bath comfortably even though we had rain and snow during our stay. The meals, both dinner and breakfast were superb and we were pleasantly surprised that we got different dishes for dinner on each of the two nights that we stayed. With one small exception the rooms were immaculately clean. The room was also very spacious. Even though it was cold outside and also cold on the corridors our room was already pleasantly warmed up on our arrival. The room was very spacious. It was also very plain, featuring only a table, TV and a pair of low chairs - but that's the standard for these Japanese style rooms. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and shown to our room. The staff speak very little English but do their best to help and make your stay pleasant. During our stay we didn't notice much of the other guests. During check-out was actually the first time we noticed that there was a lot of other guests. So this place is ideal to get some privacy and have a relaxing time.

Could do with a bit of TLC. Nothing really hindered our experience, but it is a bit worn. Visible wiring, we're unsure what to expect in the natural aging of wooden tubs, and the minerals from the spring water having an effect on the plastic indoor tubs, but there is some algae/discolouration/mineral build up. Again, lovely place, lots of charm, highlight of our holiday - just a little tlc would elevate it.

Location is beautiful! It's remote but that's part of the appeal. Bus services frequent and reliable, easy to navigate despite our limited Japanese. Room had a lot of charm as a traditional ryokan, private bath with view of the mountains delightful. Yukata provided and very comfy. Beds were comfy, room warm, everything clean. Dinner traditional keiseki style, so many courses and dishes. If you don't like fish you might not enjoy it, but a fun experience! Same with breakfast (less fish though). Staff were lovely to us too. We are a lesbian couple, we don't know if they knew but we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Extras worth knowing: We were in mountain shirogane (しろがね) Pillows seem traditional and akin to a beanbag. Not necessarily uncomfortable but quite firm. If you opt for a room with a private bathroom, don't expect a shower cubicle. It's a sit-down onsen-style shower with a bathtub (full of hot spring water though!). Room nicely warmed but can be a little chilly in the hallways. Temp control in rooms too. Great view, but is on a road. Minimal traffic, however, and the balcony has a screen (for most of the railing). Hot water for tea and cold water for drinking provided as well as a tea set and some drinks in the fridge. We had two futon-style beds set up for us. To book the upstairs private rooftop onsen, they ask you a time to pick and which tub you'd prefer (there's wood or rock). We opted rock as we had a wooden tub on our balcony. Lovely! Great night's sleep!
