That a typhoon didn’t allow us to appreciate the gardens. There was nothing we didn’t like.

The entire staff helped to make this an amazing experience. The grounds were beautiful, the accommodation with our on onset we fabulous and the dinner was truly amazing and we cannot recommend this highly enough.

Honestly, the breakfast could be improved. My husband and I are used to eating adventurous food, but the breakfast was a little too adventurous for that early.

We took the advice of another review and went to Hakone-Yumoto Station and then taxi the rest of the way, which was really helpful. The staff, especially our assistant, Dana, were very nice and accommodating! The room itself was quiet and perfect with the private onsen and made us feel like we were the only ones on the property. Perfect, relaxing stop between traveling between Kyoto and Tokyo for us. If you’re not booking a private onsen, there seemed to be enough public onsens for the other guests to share. They had nice amenities like public foot massagers too. Dinner was a delicious 15 course that seemed to be changing by the month.

Best experience to traditional Japanese ryokan. The room and the place are beautiful , the dinner and breakfast food as well as the traditional service style were amazing. A truly Japanese immersion, we loved it!

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Yoshimatsu during our visit to Hakone, and it truly felt like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their warmth and attentiveness made our stay incredibly comfortable. The room was immaculate and thoughtfully arranged, providing all the comforts we needed after long days of exploring the city. The attention to detail in the decor added a touch of elegance, making it a cozy retreat. We were also impressed by the hotel's peaceful ambiance. The traditional Japanese touches throughout the hotel added to the overall experience, making it feel authentically Kyoto. One of the highlights of our stay was the incredible dinner we enjoyed at the hotel. The meals were nothing short of exquisite, with each dish thoughtfully prepared using the finest ingredients. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were a perfect balance of traditional Japanese cuisine with a perfect tea ceremony. It was clear that the chefs take great pride in their craft, and it made for an unforgettable dining experience.

The staff were super pleasant and helpful, even giving me directions to the fireworks festival nearby. The food was delicious and the hot springs are definitely worth it. The surrounding area of Lake Ashi is also beautiful and great for walks through the nearby forests or along the shore.

This is bucket list stuff at an other level. The attention to detail is above anything I have experienced and provides a truly authentic traditional Japanese experience. Our room overlooked the lake and Fuji which we were lucky enough to see.

I wish I had more time to spend there. Arrive early so you can have enough time to enjoy the onsen several times, walk in the garden, and see the koi pond.

The staff with umbrellas met us outside in the pouring rain. We were immediately given a towel, green tea, and a snack. Our bags were taken to our room. Our room—really three rooms—bedroom, dining, and sitting rooms were wonderfully spacious. Our private onsen was just outside, with a beautiful view of their Japanese garden. The staff assigned to our room showed us how to wear our yukatas. Our dinner and breakfast were magnificent, meticulously presented, varied and delicious. Our experience at Yoshimatsu was far, far beyond our expectations and truly unforgettable.

Our teenagers found the very authentic cuisine to be a bit challenging, but we all appreciated the magnificent service and presentation.

We loved Yoshimatsu. The property and gardens are gorgeous; the room was extremely spacious and comfortable, and we loved our private onsen, as well as the public onsen. We also enjoyed the beautiful dinner service in our room, and the lovely and comfortable yukata.

The service was attentive and exceptional. It was an expensive night, but still managed to feel like a bargain. Delicious food, wonderful staff, and a serene atmosphere. Options are readily available for foreigners with tattoos to enjoy the Onsen as well.

It’s silly and unfortunate they charge $2 usd for use of the private onsen. At such a high price tag they might as well just include that. Left a weird taste in our mouth, as they didn’t inform us of that when we checked in.
