The room light is too dark, and the tatami bed mattress is thin so it is quite uncomfortable for sleep.

Great value for money, good location and friendly staff.

No restaurant, bar facilities. Breakfast is available but you must say which breakfast you want the day before. Understand this reduces waste, which I respect. It’s a bit noisy. We could hear a family with a noisy child till 11pm - which was not the hotels fault.

The location was good. In a quieter area with an easy 5-10 mins walk to shops. Loved the room. Great bathroom. They had experiences set up on certain days but we weren’t staying on those days.

Breakfast was a bit overpriced for what you got.

Beautiful interior fitting Kyoto. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and well maintaned. The staff was polite and were able to speak English fluently. The recommendations for local sento/onsen were great. They regularly host different events like tea ceremony etc.

No negative comments, it was a great stay. Would stay again 10/10

This place was great, very relaxing stay after a busy time in some of the larger cities. I also enjoyed the tranquility of the room and the facilities, it was like an escape and very peaceful. You sleep on a traditional buton but they were very comfortable. We slept great especially to the rain sounds

The only issue is that the hotel is on a "busy-ish" road and if your room is facing it it can get noisy.

The room was a very good size comfy bed and great facility. The staff was super helpful and willing to go over the top to help. Position amazing, super center and very well connected!

The breakfast sets are limited in choices. The only set that makes sense is the Japanese set. It comes with a piece of grilled salmon and some seasonal side dishes, that kind of repeat themselves after a while. But it is still worth it and very filling for a long day of endless walk outside in Kyoto.

This hotel is a newer building with ryokan-style rooms. The rooms are very new and clean. It comes with the smell of dry bamboo. We got a room without soundproofing but we could hardly hear any noise, except some foot steps from above and occasional traffic outside the window. But they are not in any way annoying, even though I am very sensitive to noise while sleeping. There is also a small laundry right next to the hotel.

Lovely stay in Kyoto where you can relax and decompress.

The laundry service they offered was difficult as it was presented to us as a "first come first served" basis service. We could not know how long it might take to get our clothes clean, as they only had one machine that they operated themselves. So we ended up doing our laundry in the laundromat next by.

Lovely stay in Kyoto where you can relax and decompress. We loved this modern ryoka-inspired stay. The common areas were very well curated, with beautiful traditional Japanese art and wooden work. We booked the hot bath a couple of times and it was a very nice experience, as we also got to open the little door on the side of the room to get some fresh air in. We appreciated the attentiveness of the staff, who always made sure we had everything we needed. They also helped us with shipping our luggage to the next destination. The location was in a calm area close to restaurants, bars, kombinis, and well connected.

Not much space in the Japanese style room to put your luggage - 3 of us had 20kg suitcases to the room was abit squished

We stayed in the Japanese style room and it was so lovely, very authentically Japanese. We stayed on futons on the floor which weren’t the most comfortable but still were a nice experience. Very clean and the staff were so lovely and helpful. The breakfast was also lovely - many options available and we enjoyed them all!

This is how Ryokan Hotel should look like! We were recommended with another hotel, but decided to visit "Kyomachiya Ryokan Sakura Urushitei" for one night and this was the real, comfortable experience we were looking for. If you like to get the most of the accomodation, check in early and use all the options it gives. Also, the breakfast included was the best of all we had during our Japanese trip. I'd definitely visit it again for longer than 2 - 3 days.

The (paid) private bath was not worth the experience, can be skipped, it is just a tiny bathtub.

The room was spacious and very clean, was fun and comfortable sleeping on the tatamis. The staff was wonderful, friendly, accommodating and especially all speak fluent English! We loved the options for breakfast although not included in the price. And having the rental kimonos sweet ladies coming to the hotel to dress us up and style our hair :geisha style" was a special treat (paid additional and it was worth it!).

    Nothing!

What an astonishingly brilliant experience! From check-in to check-out we were so impressed with everything about this wonderful ryokan. Location (walk to cool pontocho), the traditional Japanese room, Japanese breakfast, lovely staff who spoke excellent English, the beautiful lounge, decorations, rooftop, outdoor/shared areas. Our room was an absolute delight, we were so impressed with the design, tatami mats, mini balcony, and found the futons to be very comfy. We just loved the private onsen - booked it fr every night of our stay. We also booked the sake tasting night, which was great fun. I highly recommend this ryokan. It exceeded our expectations. A great ending to our holiday.
